eph12:Our away form versus Arsenal is terrible. We’ve lost 4 out of the last 5. The remaining match was a draw. Our prospects are not good at all. But I want to be surprised. 1-0 oriyomi win is enough for me. |

Leyqute: They are very good technically and they are very intelligent or is it that they are well coached. Also, they are the best off the ball in terms of pressing and defending that i have seen in the club in a long time. Even though Munro is only 16 he is a very strong CB (though limited on the ball) and for the first time in a long while we have solid defensive full backs on both sides. |

afrodoc2:How would they compare with Greenwood and Elanga’s set? I feel like those ones are better offensively and arent as good defensively . If not, one of their defenders should’ve found a way into the senior squad, given that weve been parading Magwaya and co in defense. Mengi just left the club and he didn’t even make the bench most times. |

eph12:If they lose again, someone would claim you wanted Brighton manager to replace Ten Hag. |

chic2pimp:Alright. Let’s see how things are in a couple of weeks. |

Leyqute:I think Brighton’s model is quite different and will be sustainable and here is why. They have evolved from the way they play unlike the likes of Southampton. They went from Potter to De Zerbi who has them playing some attractive football while retaining the philosophy and structure of the club in terms of recruitment. |

AdisaOwala:Manager should have the final decision on players bought and sold but he should not be the one identifying targets in the first place. City, Liverpool and most top clubs have competent DoF who identify targets and then seek the opinion of the manager. That's how it should be. |
| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by afrodoc2: 8:25pm On Sep 02, 2023 |
Leyqute:This set is deeper. Greenwood' set had very crap midfielders. Awon Charlie McCann and co. Greenwood, Elanga, Mengi, Laird, were the standouts in that set but the rest were quite weak, but this set has no standouts like Greenwood, Mengi, and Laird but has more decent players overall. |
| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by Leyqute(m): 8:32pm On Sep 02, 2023 |
Roland17:Maybe you’re right. But look at how things will pan out over time. If you keep losing your best players soon enough you won’t get capable replacements. You cannot work your way to the top operating like an academy for others. It’s not sustainable. Ask Arsenal. Ask Tottenham. Ask Soton. |
| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by AdisaOwala: 8:36pm On Sep 02, 2023 |
MRTA7:Yes, I agree... It's also another thing for targets to be identified, shown to the manager but he refuses and prefers to go with his own choices of (former) players... |

afrodoc2:It’s disappointing that none of the players you mentioned made it at United. But there are signs that the next set could. We already have Mainoo and Garnacho as part of the first team, although I think Garnacho will leave when he peaks if Madrid comes calling. Maybe we’ll have someone else to fill his shoes then. But he has to make it here first for that to happen. |

850 Career goals, 242 Career assists. And we still have Luxembourg next week...😁 We will be there no matter what |

| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by afrodoc2: 8:50pm On Sep 02, 2023 |
Leyqute:Well Madrid has Vini and Rodrygo so i don't think they need Garnacho. With regards a replacement let's see if Ethan Williams can give himself brain. There is something there but he lacks Garnacho's drive. |
| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by Roland17(m): 8:50pm On Sep 02, 2023 |
Leyqute:I think it depends on what you think their ceiling is every season. Is the goal for them to be competitive enough to create a culture of finishing top 6? They just brought A. Fati on loan (I wait to see how he blends). With the way they are playing under DeZerbi, they should grab an European spot outside of the UCL, that means they can attract players and provide that balance between building with academy and experienced heads. |
| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by Leyqute(m): 9:06pm On Sep 02, 2023 |
afrodoc2:Things can change pretty quickly. In 3-5 years Garnacho might be at his peak then and Vini could be way past his. Rodrygo doesn't have a ceiling as high as Vini so I don't think he might be as important as Vini for Madrid. I don't think I've seen a youth player with the kind of drive and mentality that Garnacho has of recent. That kid is capable or reaching elite level and staying there. |
| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by Leyqute(m): 9:13pm On Sep 02, 2023 |
Roland17:I think they're even capable of more than top 6. I believe they can break inside the top four - if they keep strengthening their squad whilst keeping their most important players. But staying in the top 4 will be a tad more difficult. Newcastle is already struggling and they haven't started playing 2-3 games every 8 days. That's why I think people underestimate what Pochettino achieved with Tottenham. For teams outside the top 6, consecutive top 4 finishes no be moin moin. |

Leyqute:True. Let us hope we can develop him to his full potential, and if he decides to leave let's hope that we produce more just as good, if not better. |
| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by Leyqute(m): 9:35pm On Sep 02, 2023 |
afrodoc2:Same thoughts here. We often get a good dose of talented youngsters. It's just that we usually mismanage them and they fail to develop into world beaters. |

| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by Roland17(m): 10:35pm On Sep 02, 2023 |
Leyqute:That is why I said Europe outside of UCL and don’t see a top 4 as a long term goal for them. Brighton’s model is a better and more sustainable model in imparison to the likes of Southampton. They evolve but keep the core of their philosophy. Also, let me clarify that their recruitment model isn’t necessarily about development from their academy but finding cheap players across the globe, develop them and flip them while they are young. |
