My worry has always been about those hangers holding the pop cast especially those ones under the slab.
Are they strong and well bonded enough to support the various designs & load from the pop?
I think more need to be done to prevent such incident.

I have experienced it in a couple of hotels in Lagos. And my engineer also showed me a sample of work he had done recently. It looks beautiful in pictures but can be quite slippery especially when it is wet. I understand there are special ones that are not as slippery though but the ones i experienced were very slippery. They are also high maintenance as need to be cleaned daily. Dirt shows up quite significantly on tiles. I was also wary of how hot tiles would get from the sun and if this was safe. Anyway, I decided against it without further enquiries. I have gone for stamped concrete instead. It would be interesting to read the opinions of others on this platform.

I always have this thought whenever I see such too. But I feel they are not the regular tiles, soapstone for example. And if regular tiles are used it's probably areas with less traffic.
It's best to just do Stamped Floor or Interlocks.

Stamped Floors are better than Interlocks.
Moulds grow on Interlocks easily and you will also see grass growing between the spaces with time.
Stamped Floor last longer when additives are added to the concrete.

I have always been curious how pop cement and the fiber alone can hold the ceiling well. There's this fear that guypsum could dry out later and lose strength.
Not to just raise observation but to try to reason possible solution, I think the bond strength and flexibility would improve with addition of acrylic into the mix.
If there's no easy access to acrylic, vinko, top and all the other PVA binder may be used.
I've used this binders with regular cement and gypsum based cement and know for a fact they improve their strength and water resistance.
The more technically inclined may mix it with the gypsum and fillers and do cube crush test in comparison with the regular mix after a week drying.
Regular artisans may mix both on a ceiling with hook and try placing varying bricks tied together to see which withstands more load.
I think a video demonstration of this would convince the clients if successful of difference in total cost.

These flooring types are area specific but most people choose based on apperance, easy of construction and cost . While the major factors such as terrain type, sub-soil conditions and usage are ignored.

For area prone to flooding or reclaimed site, paving stones are most suited because such areas will have settlement issues. The Interlocks can be easily removed, repaired and replaced. But if stamped concrete is used in such an area, there will be issues of subsidence and cracking of the concrete floor. To repair this floor type the affected portion will be cut off , refill and re-cast, which might not bond well with the existing concrete and the finishing may vary also.

Which ever option you choose it is very important that the sub base material is well compacted and the right size or thickness is used for a longer lasting floor.

True, there are outdoor tiles which are non slippery,strong and able to withstand a wide range of temperatures changes and weather conditions.

However, those tiles are meant for walkways, garden area, sit out etc and not to be driven over by vehicles.

There are some deck that can’t hold pop! Sometimes we have to drill through some deck to attached bidding wire and concrete nails (enough of these must be used).

And there are inferior filas out there someone has to be careful with choice of materials

And also don’t do heavy design under the deck!

This process of binding wire and concrete nail sounds better. I thought its just gypsum cement and the fillers that is used.
Quality of materials is also very important in every thing as rightly stated.

You are very correct. That is why when I see what one Akwa native doctor did on his driveway, I grinch my teeth. Very dangerous and unnecessary.

I think if done well, stamped concrete should last a reasonable length of time. Even interlocking when not done properly does not last more than a few months. As long as you get good experienced professionals, you should be fine. I just felt that the tiles were dangerous at the time as i had to walk on them very carefully so as not to slip and fall. And the hotel staff were having to clean the tiles too frequently for my liking. Not just sweeping but having to mop as well. Every time a car drove in or out, the tiles looked instantly dirty from the tires. In the end it all boils down to choice/preference.
