Most people go to church tired just to prevent their members from tagging them a "backslider"(d deep sleepers)
Others go to church with more than the thoughts of going to serve the lord hence absentmindedly doze. All in all to sleep in church is like sleeping at work. No evil spirit whatsoever most of the time IMHO

God rested on the Sabbath day (Sunday) so why can’t humans do the same?
They are just obeying the call of nature.

Several reasons.
1. Evil spirit - They never want you to listen to the word of God.

2. Hang over from previous night party or work.

3. Boring pastors.

4. Irrelevant messages in church.

5. Too much comfort in church with ac's, good seats and so on.

6. Abstract minds... Your body is in church but your mind is elsewhere....

On one of my visits to Nigeria, I was returning from the neighboring Benin republic to catch my flight back to North America, I had my face camera on and wanted to see the act of bribery along that road which I have experienced several times. I recorded this police man stylishly collecting bribes from the driver. One was even daring and asking for bribe in broad day light. This was before the Endsar's protest. I am sure these guys are the murderers who kill the youths and rob people at night. The state of the country has worsened from what I read and hear . I wanted them to be arrested at the time, but no one cared to put checks and balance on the Nigerian system anymore. Criminals have been promoted and rewarded
If you look at the faces of these police guys , they may have been deployed to other senior positions since it happened, who knows these may be your DPO
But I had it on video and let us keep shamming them untill their video of crime is brought to the attention of those who still have sanity of mind to prosecute them.
A crime committed by public servants does not have an expiry date for prosecution

Some preachers don't really know how to preach, it's just like when you're in a class room that is interactive and the teacher is carrying everyone along, you won't find the class boring, how come it's only during the time of preaching people sleep but don't sleep when it's time for praise and worship.

back then when I still Dey go church, whenever dem wan start preaching na that time sleep dey come, and the ushers go come Dey disturb my sweet nap, it wasn’t not my fault the sermon was always boring. On Sundays, na me Dey enter church last and na me go first leave even before Dey share the grace, I don move. Church ain’t my thing. No church no worries.

I used to blame others until I started working might shifts on Saturdays and was torn between Hoi to church at all or braving sleeping on church.

If you watch a boring movie, or listen to an uninspiring speaker talk on and on without any visuals or slide show to captivate the senses, you will sleep off.
