I prefer Tella to Madueke. Tella will definitely play for us and not as injury prone!
tella will be most likely Musa’s replacement in the team after the afcon

Only if Musa go gree retire 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Mikel should come back from retirment like roger milla did

He should prioritise his family sha. As long as his family is okay with it no issues. So his story doesn't look like Tom Brady's. Tom Brady already 45 had promised his wife he was going to retire. He actually did and announced retirement only to change the decision weeks later against his wife's wishes. They are divorced now.

Musa to get invites after the afcon will only be engineered by the big heads in the nff if not jpes won’t call him up

Left for jpes making the afcon team will be difficult for Musa

The Super Eagles really have the Super Striker Serum. 🦅

◉ In 2022/23, Victor Osimhen became the first African player to win the Serie A Golden Boot has he fired Napoli to their first league title in 33 years

◉ 20-year-old Gift Orban scored the fastest hat-trick in UEFA competition history (3 minutes and 24 seconds) in the 22/23 UEFA Conference League

◉ Taiwo Awoniyi became the third African player to score in seven consecutive Premier League games

And, this season, only one player in Europe's top seven leagues has attempted more shots than Erling Haaland. 🇳🇬

It's so sure for Musa he will make the team. Funny thing is, the players themselves are unperturbed about the backlash they get by these inclusions, they don't send Nigerians. I remember early last week, a sports page on Instagram excitedly credited Musa's absence as a result of JP's decision. Omuero commented saying the news is fake and that Musa was only excluded cause of his injury. I'm like, if he wasn't injured nko, is he deserving of making the team? We have a long way to go.

Honestly I just don't understand why Musa still wants to continue with the national team when diminishing returns don set in.

I wouldn't even mind if he was still playing at an appreciable level or is the team's talisman that constantly bails the team out in difficult situations but he's just not at that top level again.

Alhaji even use him own mouth talk say the last AFCON na him final one. He has been to two world cups, won an AFCON and achieved 100 plus caps what else does he want? Even when invited na bench he dey chop straight.

This is the issue I have with our legends they don't know when to leave when the ovation is loudest.

that omeruo too no go get invitation after next year’s afcon 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Jpes should start rebuilding the team gradually for 2026 World Cup by giving younger players a chance

I doubt the likes of Musa, ekong and omeruo will still be in great shape for the next World Cup

Tella should replace Musa while Igoh ogbu should take Omeruo’s place in the team after the afcon, Adarabioyo should replace ekong if he finally decides to switch allegiance to us

Adarabioyo yes, ugochukwu no for now because we hv also a young onyedika who is better than him

Chukwuemeka being eligible to play for Austria doesn’t mk him not eligible yo play for us as well, he will be the one to mk the choice if he doesn’t mk the grade to play for England, moreover Nigeria is a better footballing country than Austria 🇦🇹

We need Madueke who will serve as a good understudy/cover to Samu. He is younger and should be the perfect replacement for samu
When he is injured or out of form
Oga Charles,Onyedika better than Ugochucwu is debatable Abi no be Lesley of Rennes that just moved to Chelsea, well he is France youth international but if he says yes to Nigeria then a cover for Ndidi and good for the future, having him and Onyedika good for Nigeria poor midfield.

the guy has potentials but I will pick Onyedika ahead of him

Just make out time and watch onyedika at club Brugge. The boy is good just that many here seem to underrate him

Onyedika is more balanced and complete than Ugochukwu to me

He is still playing youth football unfortunately. The last U21 WC would have been a good audition but he couldn't make it for whatever reasons. I daresay the other U21 boys, Daga, Eletu and Nnadi in my opinion are more deserving of an invite.

Yekini won just one AFCON and failed to score in both Semi finals and finals of that AFCON win.
Yekini statpaded teams like Ethiopia, Gabon etc.
Yekini has just one tap in World cup goal. Missed a sitter against ten men Italy. Abeg rest!
Many watched Yekini live here ooo.

Oshimen is just 24 years old and has not even been to any AFCON as a starter yet.
Please rest all this talk! He was the highest goal scorer at the World cup qualification.
Unfortunate to lose out on away goal rule against Ghana without most of our top midfielders available for that game.
Please rest all this full potential crap.
He still has 3 to 4 AFCONs to go.

Bros, Osimhen is yet to live up to his full potential in the national team. He is a striker at 24. Most strikers peak between 22 and 27. We should see him emerge highest goals scorer in the next AFCON, lead Nigeria to the next world cup and also perform well in that world cup, then we can rate him with Yekini. Yekini was that player we greatly depended on whenever we needed a crucial win and he was greatly feared across Africa. By 1988 AFCON Yekini was also 24. He was phenomenal in the 1988, 90, 92 and 1994 AFCONs (This was 4 Straight AFCONs of being a top player!). By 1994 World Cup he was already on a decline curve, due to age, until 1998 World Cup when Ikpeba had taken over as the top striker.

Osimhen needs to keep doing it consistently for the next number of years before he can surpass Yekini.

At 22 years (1986) where was Yekini! At 22 years Oshimen was already one of the best strikers in the world (AFON and World Cup qualifiers highest goal scorer) but missed the AFCON through injuries. At 20 years, Oshimen already had AFCON bronze.

At 24 years, he has achieved what Yekini could only dreamed of! At this stage of Yekini's life he can't lace Oshimen's shoe. And what Oshimen will achieve in the future will only be a pipe dream for Yekini.

I think you're disrespecting Yekini too much.

Yekini finished as AFCON scorer back to back 1992 and 1994.

Correction he did score in the semifinals against Ivory Coast.

Yes he was a bit poor in USA 1994 but remember there was gist of players for whatever reason not feeding him with killer passes.

We can celebrate Osimhen but please let's not downgrade the contributions of a legend like Yekini.

Sir Marjori, pls don’t let us compare 80s or 90s regarding player development with what we are having now it’s wide apart,

Nigeria footballers in 80s find it so difficult to attract any meaningful transfer from overseas, then not easy at all

Rasheed Yekini and others find it so difficult to move out despite the talent.Infact as at 1990 Yekini was still doing it in Africa league despite his performances in Afcon 84 and 88,that performances today will attract good clubs.

I think Yekini and Osimehn belonged to different era but good we are having this discourse cuz we have seen a perfect striker in Osimehn.

Update: Italy Is My First Choice... If They Don't Call, I Will Consider Nigeria's Super Eagles - Caleb Okoli Cries From Frosinone 🇳🇬🦅🙆🏿‍♂️

Caleb, born in Italy to Nigerian parents has made his intentions of choosing Nigeria known...😁 According to the defender, he will consider Nigeria of the Italian national team didn't come for him.🤦🏿‍♂️

He's waiting for Spalleti's Call-Up 😲

“I think I’m lucky to be able to play for two countries. I always talk to my parents about it,” Okoli said, per Napoli Magazine.

“For now, I’m thinking about playing and achieving the team goal, then the national team will be a consequence.

“I hope for a call from Spalletti and to play with the Italian national team, which is of the highest level in the future. if the call from Italy doesn’t arrive, I could make the decision on the Nigerian national team.”

Fact Osimehn will prefer to win Afcon and lead Nigeria to WC than missing out and win all time Nigeria highest goal scorer.Whether we like it or not Osimehn will soon be all time GOAT of Nigeria football cuz @24 he has the time.

Yes I watched.Baba Yekini and I absolutely respect him for what he achieved at the time he was.playing, by the time the world.took notice of him, age wasn't on his side and after the 94 WC he had an almost one year injury absence when he joined Gijon in Spain and like you said everything went downhill from there.because of age, injury and also Abacha's nonsense with the 96 AFCON. That said, individually I daresay Osimhen is our most successful and ever globally renowned top striker. He won the league in Italy, won the highest scorer in a top league like the Serie A and World over there is no argument that he is among the current world's best strikers and even player. With that, even if Osimhen doesn't win anything in Nigeria, his name is already etched in the history books.
