Rotate the players. Why can't Rashford come in from the bench in some games? He is worse coming from the bench?

All hell broke loose because it wasn't about the performance but power play. He wanted to be the biggest person in the room and that's fine. If it was about performance, Rashford would have been benched by now.
Rashford and Bruno Fernandes are the two players on this team you don't want to bench even if they're playing terribly. They're the only two capable of making a difference in a split second

To be honest i can't remember Garnacho having any good games, but you may be right. One mistake ETH made was keeping Rashford on until the end when it obviously wasn't his day. I really wonder what message that sends out to the other players. He should hve the Bayern game as his last chance salon, and if he flops again then someone else should be given a run of games on that LW. A more team-oriented player, be it Garnacho or Pellistri.

100% agree on this.

Even if he doesn’t start those lads, giving them 30 mins is more than enough. Let everybody work hard. Even Haaland that scores loads of goals doesn’t get preferential treatment from Pep.

I used to think coaches and players analyze their performance after every game, especially when everything goes wrong. But I doubt ETH does this. Many times last season, those players and coach will offer apologies and whatever after a bad game only for them to do the very same thing the next game. You wonder if they actually look at their performances collectively as a team and individually

That’s why I said it may be part of the plan, which is very worrying.

Rashford has been playing the same way since the start of the season - all attack, poor defense. And nothing has been done about it.

Let’s see how he’ll perform versus Bayern. Don’t be surprised if he doesn’t help with the defensive work.

Their wire can spark anytime.
And sentiments aside, with our current squad I don't see anyone doing better than them even when they are terrible.

I feel the problem is inadequate players to compete for that role.

Luke shaw started playing like a beast when it looked like Malacia will dethrone him.
Wan Bissaka and Dalot are both fighting for their lives in their position...
Aside those positions, no other position has good players competing for it.
Your brother sancho is nowhere to be found, we could have tried him grin cheesy 🏃‍♂️🏃‍♂️
Sancho has been tried many times. He is not a new signing.

Rashford has been tried and trusted in a counter football where he plays on the shoulder of the last defender. But the mandate for ETH is to build a team while improving the quality of our football. This is not some quick fix something. Its a gradual process. This is the second season, how far have we gone with this? But if I'm wrong and ETH just wants to win something anyhow anyhow, then while he may win something, he will end up sacked and the next coach will start from zero.

It is certain we are losing. The only question is, are we going to put up an improved performance?

Garnacho was terrible the two games he started lol. The reason you said 'as regards team play' is because he started to pass at some point after trying again and again to take on players without any result. They were taking the ball off him like a kid.

I’m not advocating that he starts benching Rashy for Gernacho. But don’t you think AG17 should at least get 15-20 mins in our last 2 games at least?

Actually this was how he played last season too. We thought it was because of Weghorst that our attack was poor. We have "better" striker now, and no chance was created for him through out the time he was on the pitch.

I would rather be surprised if he assist his team mates to close down passing channels.

You know most fans just wants ETH to win something as fast as possible, with any means necessary.
This is the same Man U of last season. Nothing has changed.
Whenever Rashford's scoring period comes again and we start winning games, most fans will forget it is just individual brilliance pushing us.

DDG is gone now, so no individual saves to give us clean sheets.
Martinez and the defence department has been bad, so Onana is in for it.

We're trying to build a team where everyone is important. I don't want us to be rubbish for 90 minutes and be praying for a split second difference. As far as I'm concerned, that's how a small team should think

Exactly. We are only complaining now because he is not scoring yet. When he starts scoring we will forget again that Rashford will not pass to save his life. grin cheesy

They have not really been bad. Its the midfield that has been bad. No matter how good a defense is, if there is a poor midfield in front of the defense. it will leak goals. And the funny thing is when they leak goals, the next move will be to change the defense while the midfield remains the same. But give it some time, the new defense will start to leak goals too.

Hopefully when we get Amrabat, Kobe and Mount back, our midfield won't be express anymore

Not me. I have always maintained this stand. Rashford will give you some goals, but at the expense of what?

That Midfield is just terrible.
I hope ETH will focus on it.

He should be getting like 30 minutes with the way Rashford's playing presently. I'm not even arguing that.

The thing I'm against is saying Rashford should be benched for Gernacho.

If you're not about to stay on point, why quote me then. Please go hard lol. That's my specialty. If asking if you're naive gets you triggered, you probably should avoid arguments on a faceless forum.

And booing our best players is not something we should be emulating. Btw, y'all can boo Rashford all you want whenever he plays bad. He's a senior player and will deal with it. I'll rather that than a young one like Garnacho.
Your point is that Rashford should always start regardless of his performance because the options on the bench are not as good as Rashford on his best days...

We are not talking about the player Rashford can be but his output now. If Rashford is not delivering, we should try others in that position.

Because we're trying to build a team is exactly the reason why they won't be benched. If we have a team you can bench your key players without much difficulty, otherwise you're cutting your nose to spite your face.

Sancho, Garnacho, and Martial are currently the 3 players capable of playing Rashford's position. Rashford has been moved multiple times (even benched or "rested" once or twice) to accommodate Sancho and Garnacho in that position, how would you guys rate them in that position compared to Rashford? As for Martial I'm not sure he even wants to play as a winger, and we all know how lazy he can get.

We do not have a good team, that is just the truth

Isn't Rashford delivering though? In our last match he was the major output constantly putting pressure on Brighton's defence. In a normal day he would have scored two plus 1 assist. In the match before he was involved in what, 2 goals?

Also, against Brighton I remember 3 instances his passes would have led to a goal, in fact one of them did but got ruled out.

I don't think it's all doom and gloom sha. Our midfield still has a lot of issues with maintaining control for reasons that I don't know, I think that is a more immediate issue than Rashford. Also, our marking is terrible - again I think this is a more immediate issue. With what I've seen of Hojlund I think our front will score a lot of goals once he, Rashford, and Bruno understands each other.

Update: It must be said though that we've probably lost this season as far league is concerned, na to battle for top 4 now.

Never bet against them in a big match, I have done it in the past against PSG and it wasn't a sweet experience. (Even not once or twice that I lost a big money )
It's a big game and anything can happen.
My 2 cents grin
Me that has already carried Bayern handicap -2.5. Dey play. They will beat manyoo like drum and as usual we will be there.

UCL is expanding to 36 teams next season and the team with the highest coefficient that doesn't qualify via league position will make it. So, if we finish 5th or 6th, we'll still qualify.
