You fit transition to being a carer. It comes with sponsorship.

On a different note, if you get experience in retail banking, then go to the job portals and apply for anything jobs in the field you feel you can do. Read job descriptions and check yourself to see wetin you sabi already, what you think you have to learn and what you can get away with by blagging. Na so people dey take get work.

Personally i suggest that you look for job in a area you have experience already(if your retail banking experience is not from the UK) then switch after a year or two. You can check https://uk.indeed.com/q-retail-banking-l-london-jobs.html?vjk=65cba1bd6f2550a0

Are you on student visa or dependant?

Perhaps you didn't 'approach with your eyes wide open and senses on guard'. You have yourself to blame.

A church is a community of people with the same/similar beliefs and practices. There is nothing wrong in advising someone to seek help in a community be it religious, professional, traditional or tribal community. Your expectations and approach is what matters.

Don't lose guard because you think they are holy. Be at alert.

I did hence the physical fight immediately i sensed that he was in to clean me out. The family friend that connected me to him is a pastor and they are very close friends

When i was out of job and penniless as a student for almost 6months my rent and bills were paid by Asians i was sharing a house with, the principal occupant did not kick me out and was understanding until i got a job and start paying back £200 a week until i clear up.

Because those are some of the best communities you can find of people of similar backgrounds who are willing to help and likely have established procedures for supporting newcomers as they settle in.

Obviously for someone who is of another religion their applicable communities will suffice, and for someone of no religion, they don’t have to, but it has been my experience and that of all my friends of different faiths that religious communities offer the best opportunity to find your grounding and get information and support, especially in the early days. Simple things like someone to provide driving guidance, information on where to get things, or help with viewings, that one might find difficult as a newcomer no matter how highly paid simply because you don’t have those friendly personal relationships with people around, church/mosque would always volunteer to assist based on being part of the family.
Those are the last places I’d even advice anyone to go to seek help or advice from. I’d even advise anyone to take the pain, get information as much as he needs from online communities as this , YouTube , uk gov, etc. There’s peace in owing no man any glory, and living free.

I wouldn’t advise anyone to seek help from church or mosque. Wrongest places to want to get help from ,in the long run

I was a victim of this in my first few months in this country, the default advise given to new immigrants is to find a Nigeria church so as to get help with job, accommodation etc

I get to know a Nigerian through a family friend here when i was looking for accommodation, He gave a room in a house he was subletting, gave me a bible, helped me find a 'job' with Royal Mail,(i worked for a day and never went back) took me to their church where he is very very respected and almost everyone knows him.

I was settled with him and keep going to that church even without him. when i moved in there he told me that the rent is bills inclusive(£50 a wk) which i was happy with.

just 3wks in the accommodation i received a bill of £200, i called to ask him and he said i should just pay it.

The job he helped me with turns out to be an arrangement with the agency whereby he will be getting £1 hourly from my pay and i was let into the warehouse through the backdoor, no training, no orientation given. After the day shift he wanted me to go back for night shift but i refused and he was pissed.

We had a physical fight because of the bill and he asked me to move out immediately that night after i paid for only 3wks i lived there.

That winter night i went to woolworths (now closed) to buy a bag to pack my stuff and the next day I was on the street looking for an accommodation, missed lecture that day, at the end i found nothing, i came back locked myself inside and he tried to break the door down to through me out.

It was a Zimbabweans i met while looking for a house the previous day that helped me to find a place and i finally moved out.

This is just the summary of the event as the fight lasted for 12days before i moved out.

I know what I say, when I say I won’t advice anyone to seek help from church or mosque. Except one is being lazy and just wants to be spoon fed, one can actually face the pain in the first few months and get going independently in this place. Well, that’s in my own opinion.

That’s the reason I rhetorically asked him Church or Mosque?

Btw, I go church today sha.

All very unfortunate but all very unrelated to the church in question or churches generally.

Or if the man had been a 'well respected' man in a university and had given you an academic book instead of a Bible would you be citing him as an example of how you were victimised by a university?
Crooks and wicked people na full there. Whatever Dey do is a bait. It’s not with free mind. They hope to benefit from you in the long run. They only care about themselve and what the community will benefit from you

Not all, but most times.

I was in church today, and I said “I don come the gathering of wicked people”.

Fair enough. I respect your perspective although my experience has been the complete opposite.

I have seen people helped and guided without any expectation or 'owing' or not living free, and feedback from my friends who are of another religion has supported the statement I made.

To each his own 👍.

A likely scenario is a guy here that is trying to rent out a house. They will rent house at lesser price and giving it out at a neck breaking price.

cheesy

Honestly don't understand how someone will say he is a Christian, wake up in the morning on Sunday, go to church and declare that he has arrived in a gathering of wicked people.

It's either something is wrong with the church (which would raise the question of why you are there) or something is wrong with the person. Or both sha.
