What do you mean by complicated?
Britain that ruled us recommended we have 10 regions along ethnic lines

Having ethnic lines is the only way to have peace that's it you can't avoid it absolutely no way

Look at Europe they fought for 1000 years plus till they divided along ethnic lines... Look at Asia it's alone ethnic lines
Look at India each ethnic group are semi independent , china, Japan

You only have our system in Americas which are settler countries
Britain is stupid for proposing that, what happens to having 300 states, you don’t see that it is only pretentious if you seek a regionalism along ethnic line, in 10 divisions yet there are over 300 such ethnic, I hope you see the complication there in that if we seek to divide across ethnic line it should be at least 300 regions not 10

You have 300 tribes but approximately 10 ethnic nations

Tribe are different from nations

Nigeria has approximately 10 ethnic nations

Those 10 regions can have province along tribal lines with each province being semi independent pay tax to the region the region pays taxes to federal

Federal controls army, cbn and foreign affairs

Region controls police, education policy, health policy

Province controls their resources, elections ( each province would be politically equal) and infrastructure
The would be a minimum amount paid to the region say 50% of earning as long as it's more than 500 million so if you make 500 million region takes all

If it's too big you merge but merging means you lose sit in the regional assembly

Please let's stop confusing ourselves here, if you must come to equity you must come with clean hands, please can you least the 10 ethnic Nations you spoke about, southern Nigeria alone or even Eastern Nigeria alone has over 10 established tribe, each bigger than The Kingdom of Wales so what are you saying. Can I hear your list of such ethnic Nations however you put it. The Federal Republic would not be officially restructured any further, let those ethnic nations figure out themselves. Take this to the bank coming from q core Igbo man Like myself

No be you kee Jusus but you dey shook mouth for case wey elders don look tire, By the time you begin to solve these problems you will realise that, either there would be very bloody scene cause Only Igbo, Hausa and Yoruba are what ought to be a country in the real scheme of things but if you let everyone lose, even Isoko would want to be her own country and trust the three major tribes to try to annex minorities and certainly they would bound together and mount serios and bloody resistance.

Let the major tribes form a country of their own, and let the minority tribes band together and form a country of their own, hence the six zones. That’s the best for now.

Maybe two countries South and Middle Belt in one country and Core North joins their brothers in Niger.

Okay so you want to inconvenience majority to please the minority, why not make it justified why not put Ilorin to Yorubas, why not put Ikwere and Anioma to Igbos, why not add Igbanke to Igbos and cede other edoid territories in Delta to them, why not conduct Refendum in Opobo and Bonny if they want to stay with Igbos or Ijaws, have Akwa/Cross told you that they want to stay in a realistic union with Ijaw, what about Edo do you think they want to share with anybody. This is just within the true East and we are having this much confusion already

The sit at home is only an area of influence. The sit at home is not happening in Anioma so if you talk about Igboland, include Anioma if you talk about Biafra then include Rivers, in whichever case, South East has no definition it is not a people but rather a disjointed geographical setup

All that land belongs to Benin Kingdom so not Igboland. Anioma and Ikwerre are part of Benin Kingdom.

You are still making sense and contributing further to why restructuring can't happen any further so, let's say that majority Igbos seize Benin land, can you retrieve it without chaos now, I hope you see how dicey they whole situation is, now I'm Igbo and we have seize Benin land, what makes you think we won't seize more if Nigeria exist? Today Igbos have 5 full states, Benin don't even have a single full state, can they stand the Igbos in further escalation of rhetoric. It is not about emotions, the strong shall strangle the weak.

Keep creating more confusion for yourself, is there any people in Nigeria called Cross River, have you done a study of who makes up the Akwa/Cross area, where does Ogoni, Isoko, Uhrobo, Etc stand in this, or you just dream up another stupid amalgamation that doesn't take account of the feelings of native people. Besides in this your writing you already admired up to 5 in south alone yet the North is over 5 times more diverse than the south, travel abeg and stop these emotional write up talk only about Igbo if you are Igboid and let the rest decide who they are

Re: What If We Never Restructure Nigeria by nairalanda1(m): 8:12pm On Oct 02, 2023
Many of you guys calling for regions don't know why states were created in the first place.

The main reason for state creation was simple. If one had an issue in say Makurdi, and it needed high level sorting out, one had to travel hundreds of kilometers to Kaduna to sort it out.

Also, minorities were being dealt with by majority tribes.

Most people calling for regions live under the idea that life under the regions was better. Yes...if you lived in certain parts of the cities. Outside the cities, most people were poor and broke and suffering.

Even now, most Nigerians want more STATES. Few want regions.
Re: What If We Never Restructure Nigeria by onumadu: 8:13pm On Oct 02, 2023
Funny thread.

Funny in the sense that you have Yoruba (as usual) dictating that South East and South south are never to form one region. lol
Whoever gave them the authority to dictate what happens in regions outside of their own.

And then one funny person up there is saying that the sit at home is the referendum.
Apparently all the protests by ALL south eastern leaders about it means nothing.

The final truth about which political formations would emerge from Nigeria is that nobody knows what the maps will look like after Nigeria collapses.

Europe is a good example of this...

European territories have been swapped countless times from the middle ages till date.
For example, Russia is keeping parts of Germany, while Ukraine is keeping parts of Poland, Hungary, etc,,, and so forth.

I pity groups that are not ready when the shit hits the fan.

A lot of my Igbo brothers commenting here are totally clueless and letting others foist their agenda without challenge.

That cluelessness is how the south east became the only geopolitical zone in Nigeria not connected to the sea or another country.

That is why we Igbo will not allow such people to dictate our future: Sit at home or not. cool
