peetash: Doing M.sc in other courses won't give u the job opportunities in those fields. I'm also a graduate of physiology. Advise so far from people is just to obtain a jamb form. I holistically studied bms as a whole. Pharmacology, physiology, biochemistry, anatomy, medical microb, pathology, up to 400l when I had to add a full year to graduate with bsc. physiology. I know more than my certificate presents but, who can believe that? Who will permit you to explain? 4yr course on ma certificate and 6 years in d university with serious lectures and exams. At a time, we had to pay 110,000 for laboratory and other irrelevant expenses. We need a freedom
wow, am sure that's OOU. Am graduating from Anatomy dis year too but I already have admission to study medicine. What set are you?

Guys, I am a gradute of university of ilorin anatomy dept. I graduated more dan 5 years now but no job. The only tin that is left for me is to go and prepare for jamb. There is no future in those useless paramedical courses. Its high time time we stopped deciving ourselves, expect by the grace of God, else one cannot do any thing with a degree in those courses. Infact, go to google and search, you will discover that the problem is not only peculier to nigerians but all over the world.
I am disappointed cos I was deceived to study the fake course despite reading like a mad man and graduated with a fantastic grade. Pls my pple, go and obtain a direct entry form or anoda jamb and fill in a better course. I tell you, its far better cos one will just sit @ home doing nofin till eternity. I have said my piece oooooooo. You may fink jamb is a long process but if you'd done dat all these while you would have had more hope by now.
No future in paramedics period.

Going back for jamb after 5years. Wow! That is quite wrong sir. Go get your masters in Public health administration and get some courses done on health care. Believe me you'll go places. But if your passion lies in going back for medicine, please do. My 2cents sir. God bless.

Most Universities require 2:1 both home and abroad. Healthcare administration is the highest employed sector in the US and Canadian economy. So you can develop yourself better after the first masters. It's a mix of business policies and health administration.

O my God! What hav i caused myself? Cos of the fear of admission i went to change my course from pharmacy to physiology cos of my jamb score thinkin it would lead me to sometin. Now i was among d candidates dat did well in post utme which they would hav offer admission in pharmacy. But now i hav found myself in physio. What should i do now. I think i should better leave d admission and just wait for next jamb. I'm just too confused now.

If you can still keep pace with your academic excellence, please continue with physiology and cross over to your desired course in 200L. Don't lose what others have spent years searching for. No year is lost.

Hello bro, it will do me no good if i decieve you. I have been in this mess for sometyms now and the only thing dat i can remember now is regret studying a paramedical. Pharmacy is also a paramedical. There is just little difference between it and physiology. If u are my blood brother, i would have advised you to study medicine eles, change your course completely to pure sciences like geology or even microbiology and biochemistry. And one derogatory thing is that those microbiology and BCH do even have medical applications than anatomy, physiology or even pharmacy cos in every starndard hospital in nigeria, there cannot be more than 2 pharmacists that are employed and more or less treated like anatomists and co. So use your head oooo. There is no future and prospects for such courses in nigeria and the world @ large. Even if you become a professor in a paramedical course, the rate @ which u will be discriminated against cannot be explained. So if u still want to be relevant to the medical world, go for medicine. Meanwhile, u may be studying ur physiology and obtain another jamb, perhaps you are tired of sitting @ home. But remember, i will never mislead you. I have seen it all and have concluded dat if God will punish a man, He will give him admission into a paramedical course in nigeria.

Big thanks to u. Olucheye and winners for d advice. But now. Should i continue wit the physio, then switch in 200lv? If yes how do i go about it? What are d criterials. Is it 95% dat it wil work?. Or should i just wait for d next jamb. Cos there is no too much money to waste. Thank u once again cos people said experience is d best teacher. But i say: true information given by an experienced person is d best teacher. If not of this trend i would hav jump into fire all in d name of medical related course. Pls i need solid advice to take my decision.
Re: Human Anatomy & Physiology Graduates: Lets Meet Here by Winners72(m): 12:11pm On Oct 08, 2012
Based on what you said, i would'nt know the university to which your admission is offered but i do know that in university of ilorin, 100 level students of anatomy and physiology are allowed to cross-over to medicine provided the are amongst the best 20 students on their transit to 200level. All the same if this is not your fate, i will advice you to continue the physiology and read like no man business for the next Jamb. Obtain the Jamb and prepare for it. Or maybe if you are not too sure of your competence in passing Jamb to studying medicine, change completely to any course in faculty of science or environmental studies; this you can do by going directly to ur level adviser and HOD, and your file will be transferred to your desired department and Faculty. Contrary to this, make sure you do all to secure an admission that will qualify you a medical student. I can never advice anyone to study those useless courses. At least, you can read the experiences of people in the previous. Look before you leap. I pray u wont make the mistake i made cos i must tell you that a B.sc in physiology is synonymous to having O'level.

Shoutout to all d Unilorin peeps in the house. I graduated with the Anatomy class of 2010. I wldnt say a B.Sc Anatomy is as hopeless as most of us are making look in here... Dez days, less emphasis is made on certificates but wat you have upstairs. Came out with a 2.2 and with God's help, I can look back without any regrets. I branched out totally. Today I work in one of the top financial institutions in Nigeria, and earn a fat salary, sumfn lots of doctors can only dream of for starters.

Dats not to say my anatomy degree is totally redundant @ dis stage. I intend to do HSE. Grab all four certificates and proceed for an masters degree in occupational health afterwards. Its not gonna be easy, but with determination and God on my side, I'll be dere.

All I'm saying is this: Don't lose hope, Finding urself in the basic medical sciences isn't the end of the world. 2 years ago, I was distraught by the uncertain future I faced. Now, I can only look forward with expectations and hope for the future. I have no regrets studying anatomy. Shalom.

Ok,I get ur point. It‘s good u‘ve made up your mind because most people that I know who are in the same situation are still battling with the hard choices of going back for mbbs or doing another course due to the competitive nature of mbbs or going for masters.

Good option. Others are:
1. Get an associate degree in science lab tech
2. Mph
3. moving to any nearby africa country to do 2yrs associate degree in nursing to upgrade. Though, I do not know whether nursing and midwifery council of Nigeria acknowledge/registered one with associate degree in nursing

budyke: The situation of basic medical sciences in nigeria is quite embarasing to the holders of this digree. I have a bsc in human anatomy, and wen it comes to employment the response is 'sorry we dont need you'. We must not end up in lecture halls as lecturers, is not all of us that have that talent. The annoying part of it is that u cant even apply for direct entry in medicine in nigerian schools and be sure u will get the coourse to study once u pass the exam(do we even need to write exams!?). With my upper division degree in anatomy, i have been subjected to go back to writing JAMB and post UME, after which the profs gives the admisions to their relatives and loved ones. Am on the opinion that NUC should abolish this courses at BSC level or make it a criteria for studying medicine in nigerian univerisities. Fresh jambites cant be compared with a degree holder in d field of medicine.. Its annoyingly embarasing.
Big misconception. I currently study Medicine @ UNN & I'm in my 500level. Believe me though U̶̲̥̅̊ think theres an advantage of which theoritically its true but coming on real terms it makes little or no difference. This is my 1st degree & †ђε best in my class with 4 Distinctions in Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry & Pharmacology is on his first degree too, trust me getting a single distinction In UNN med sch now is not child's play even those 2nd degree people fail out & some have multiple resits & d rest are jst normal, none has a single dinstinction, why do †ђε distinctions keep coming from †ђε first timers over †ђε years, even †ђε best graduating students so my dear 2nd degree is not a criteria for execelling though it helps

Liverpoolfc: One thing about bms is that they are to qualify to do some jobs( eg @ present, i am a part time teacher in federal science sch, in dt sch, we also hv a pharmacologist taking chemistry while i am i physiologist taking biology. If i am explaining biology, i dnt even knw where to stop) and under qualify in dt we are nt allowed to do some jobs in the hospital. The last aptitude test i did, it was nt easy, i am sick and tired of dragnet GSE test. I know that i am not dull, but out there, they want to make me believe i am too dull, God forbid. When and how will all this end?

Which of the Federal Science schools? Sokoto or Ogoja

Physiologist ought to Med. Researchers!! It's a pity how irrelevant, relegated n underrated the course has become especially in Naija. Nigeria is lagging behind because research isn't supported by d system. All they care about is Oil n Politics. I'll give u guys gist sha.
Am a non-practicing Physiologist by d way!
