The interim dividend qualification date was September 27. You did not qualify for the dividend because you bought on the 3rd of October.

An unassuming friend just collected 4.6m from UBA as interim dividend. He started investing only 3 years ago, during the COVID lockdowns. He came into the market with big money though.

Covid year 2020 was a once in a lifetime opportunity. Looking back now , wished I had even deployed more funds then . Remembered vividly liquidating funds from fds and money market to enter stocks and dollars as the Markets crashed world wide . All my account officers thought I was crazy , person no just fit Dey pray for calamity or affliction to arise a second time ni o grin

Why sell at this point of UBA TURNAROUND

Do you know their Q2 2003 EPS around #10.50. infact if UBA is to be liquidated today each of their shareholders will be paid around #100 per share

BARGAIN HUNTERS TAKE NOTE!

I sold to buy later.

I agree with you; based on a sudden call for the liquidation of UBA, shareholders should set their sights somewhere around N100/share. However, you've set your sights at an exit price of N60 because that scenario is different to what we have now which is simply based on quadrupled profit growth.

But let me ask you a question that is intrinsic to every Investor/Trader:

What makes the price of a stock significantly rise?

How long have you held on to the investment? Were you reinvesting your dividends.

I remember some years ago when UBA sold for as low as N3.00, that should be in 2018

To the gurus in the house, what ratio would you divide 5m between dangotesugar/nascon, presco and jaiz Bank.

Please support your claims with reasons.

Mr Emma, onegentleguy, currentprice, locotrader, custom price, mcy et, al, please your contributions will be appreciated.

I hope madam mcy is fine, I didn't see your hand since Friday here n you never replied my last mail.

Thanks.

Good morning everyone.

This is the question sensible investors have been asking themselves over the ages...

For answers, read "100 baggers" by Chris Meyer and "100 to 1 in the stock market" by Thomas Phelps.

Hope this helps.

Is there a minimum amount of stocks you must hold before you get dividends? I bought on the 13th of September on Trove but I didn't get any dividend

There's no minimum number of shares held to qualify for dividends. If you bought on 13 September, you should receive dividend.

However, it depends on how Trove and other fintechs operate (they are third parties). If the registrar has your name and details on it's register (directly), you should have been paid directly to your bank account.

Do you have a Clearing House Number (CHN)? It's alphanumeric - starts with C, ends with two alphabets. E.g. if surname is Biden, it would be CxxxxxxxBE (x being numbers).
Do you have a CSCS account number you buy/sell shares on NGX with?

If he bought from trove or other 3rd parties, he won't be given a cscs no

There is neither minimum nor maximum holdings in order to be qualified for dividend. You get paid dividend even if you own just one unit of a stock!

Trove's default account allows you to get paid without filling any e-dividend form while the other type of account requires you to reach out to registrars of the companies you're invested in to complete e-dividend mandate forms.

Check your Trove account balance/bank account balance again or get in touch with Trove for further clarification regarding your account with them.

Ok. Thanks.
That means he will wait for Trove (and likes) to receive from registrar and then redistribute to them.

I'm wondering, why go through third parties when many licenced firms have apps and provide online, real time platforms?

I will rather deal with licensed firms with known addresses in Nigeria and verifiable on sec, than all these online third parties

It depends on the type of account that was opened for him during the onboarding stage.

No I don't have one. I don't think Trove will pay directly into my bank account. It should have entered my wallet though. It's my first time buying stocks

Please could you recommend 3 alternative dependable licensed firms Which have apps I could use instead? I'd really appreciate it.
