Note that my comment isn't to excuse the army participating in crime fighting. It is to point out why the police is so inadequate that we have to bring in the army.

Which brings me back to my original point on funding.

Budget for the police usually includes a fixed amount for training x no of new cops. If we want to make it say 2x , THAT means that the budget has to go up. Then the new police people have to be trained, that means more money for the police budget. Stations and new facilites have to be built...more money and so on.

Yet, we think it can be done on the relatively scanty amount the police gets as its budget.

At the end, it still means we need to change the way our economy is run to get more money, or do things like raise taxes, and tax the 70% of Nigerians who do not pay tax to federal or state governments , to get that extra money. Or we take a loan.


Again, like I said, I still agree with you on the fact that the army has no business doing the work of the police.
