350k na money? That's $4200 per year

Canada is better than Nigeria in any form, but you missed the point with this comparison because what 350k naira can buy in Nigeria, $2000 will not buy in Canada.

With 350k naira, a family of 4 can manage to live a decent life in Nigeria. My brother, it will be very difficult to survive with $2000 in Canada unless you’re single and you choose to rent a single room.

You can get a 2-bedroom apartment for less than 100k naira per month in Lagos, whereas you will need around $1500 or more per month to get a 2-bedroom apartment in Canada.

Living in Canada or abroad as a legal resident doesn’t necessarily make one rich, but is better in the sense that you will be able to enjoy the basic things in life that only the rich people enjoy in Nigeria.

Go online and search so people can see what it looks like. So people dont`t hope for imaginations.

You know my problem about Nigerians outside the shores, they don't paint the bitter reality, and same time, will overhype things.

Very few will tell you the pains before the successes come!

Imagine the dude up there! Look at how he just motivated dude to quit his job and come make 20,000,000 in Canada grin grin grin

Living outside the shores of Nigeria is tough, but we will always get by. 200k was good during Jonathan's era, that was long ago, fueling and cost of things has really gone up.
Canada is not easy no doubt, but even with the minimum wage you can survive and still save, which is impossible in 9ja, then again there is security issues in 9ja, it is relatively safe in Canada.
There are people earning 5m in 9ja and still left the country, an average Nigerian is just 1 sickness away from being broke.

Nairaland is just cruise. If it was in the 80s or maybe in 1990s most companies provide accommodation for staffs. But everywhere don cast.
OP if you want to Japan, do so. Life is all about risk.

Bad comparison!

The value you will get in Nigeria, is not same with that of Canada.

With 500k monthly in Nigeria, you are a king!

With $3000 monthly in Canada, you are still a pauper., but when you convert to Naira, you feel you are doing well.

Do you know how much rent, gas, groceries, phone and internet bills and not to mention the tax being sniffed out of you.

Your comparison is void. Value is different!

With 500k you are a king?? You got to be kidding me. sad sad Even 700k monthly take home can leave you stranded if care is not taken.
Though it depends on how big your dreams are when it comes to what you want to deploy the money for.

Canada is 100% better than Nigeria in all ramifications.

The way people overhype situations is my problem, and many have been led astray by such!

I saw a video on Tiktok where the guy sold his house to make it to UK and also incurred debt in Nigeria, only to get stranded. Such people were deceived about these false exaggeration we talking about.

Just let people know the sacrifices and odds, and how they can grow from that starting point.

Not saying, come over and make 20,000,000/month

You really don't have sense, do you know someone can buy a plate of food with 1 dollar in Nigeria but you can't buy a plate of food with 1 dollar anywhere else, please have sense or go and buy sense

U be confirm mumu. A white man's land teaches one to be prudent. You don’t go about wasting money on nonsense like we do here. You indirectly get that saving culture without knowing. You prioritize on food, cheap clothings and save money to build investments where you come from.

You clearly do not have sense, do you?

I know the guy too well as someone who ......is ment..... hence my harsh words on him. If you feel he is making sense, take his advice when you find yourself in a position to take one of the choices the op made.

You guys clearly do not know the angle Nigeria is heading to and you want someone who doesn't earn well to stay? The best advice to give to someone who wants to leave this country is to make sure their papers are genuine and not mago_mago.. they will survive if they are not lazy there. It is not like Naija where cleaners are not respected and sent on demeaning errands .

Here in naija, we make money to belittle people and get worshipped. There, they make their lil money and help one another.

Banks, oil. Companies, tech companies, telecom

Just depending on your qualification

An IWE holder ( welding engineer) would earn minimum of 3 million in Nigeria

How many of their workforce earn such figure in a month? Are they not the same company we know.

No truck driver is earning 20 million naira a month.

With current exchange rates, that is 30,000 CAD.
NOT ONE truck driver is earning that.

Truck drivers earn from $6,000 (hourly worker, within the city, strict schedule) to maybe $15,000 (owner operator, does Canada-US long hauls), a month on average.

harsysky:

This is the problem I have with you guys. Your advices are devoid of wisdom. You guys think people make money to be worshipped or show some kinda pride. 500k, king? And after that, he achieves what with it when his mates are earning more than 20million naira a year as a truck driver in canada. I pity your sense of reasoning, and the earlier you change it, the better for you.

I get where this is going. Now, do you know that wherever you stay and work, you can save if you want, right? Food is cheap over there. It's one of the cheapest stuffs except you want to be eating your naija favorite dishes. The idea is the money you save there will clearly be a big money when you convert in naija. You can save that 500k which is a salary here in naija as your whole savings in a month (I know people save far more).

In five years, that's 30million naira. Can a 500k job save that in naija? I just ran an analysis with a savings culture of 500k naira per month. Ask questions, people there save alot knowing fully well where they are coming from. If you still doubt, I can go on if I have the time. I'm giving you concrete information.

At current exchange rates, every truck driver should be making at least 50 million naira a year (before taxes).

You are right but Canada still offers the quality of life Nigeria can still dream of. If after the bills and you are able to save that same 350k back home with your peace of mind intact, it's worth it my dear compared to what's obtainable in Nigeria.

Yes, one can make it in this Nigeria but only few has that privileged in one form or the other. The rest has to brutal, selfish, greedy, violent, be cunning and/or corrupt to be able to make it and that's the truth. You can't be honest and make it in this country just like that, you have to be compromised in one way or the other or them just born you with silver spoon or plenty godfathers.

Hello! I don’t discourage people from leaving, but always tell the truth about what plays! I don’t reside in Canada.

I don’t sell false hopes to people. I tell them reality!

I don’t advise people to sell their assets in the name of japa! People like you do it and have mislead many.

People would read your comment and start selling everything, hoping they will earn 20,000,000 when they get to Canada.

I don’t lie to people about what plays anywhere.

Well said. Anytime you ask them to lower their expectations, they brand us as discouraging people to travel.

People that have not seated inside an aircràft before suddenly become travel advisor on Nairaland.

Just don't argue with anybody. Let them go and make that 20million in a year as a truck driver
