😂 Who are you? Endorse Paserio sacking? 😂. You don't even have a say. Go and sit down. Na SunGorilla wey dey hype you I blame. Go remove him!
You too limited to see what Paserio is doing. Winning AFCON competition is never due to good tactics. Luck and players determination with a good goal keeper wins AFCON.
If it is by tactics Senegal won't win the last AFCON. Cameroon won't win 2017. Be humble to learn from those who are better than you.

TheSuperNerd:

I expect us to be better in the November games. And hopefully to keep cleansheets. The first 2 WCQ games shouldn't be issues for us if we play to at least 60-70% of our quality on paper.

Boniface is blending on so sharply with the team that his addition is already impactful. That lad alone opens up a lot of options for us on how we can execute a formation plan to see our final third dynamics improve. Credit to Peseiro (who I still don't reckon with) for already placing Boniface above the likes of Moffi and Sadiq (in the Forwards Hierarchy order) despite them being in the team longer than he has.

Onyedika is another lad that I am thankful Peseiro finally gave the chance to marshal plays at the base of our midfield in a FIFA Grade A game. His integration is key as well.

Come what may, Peseiro is the man leading us to CIV whether we play fantastic or rubbish in November. He must finish what he started. Let us hope the best is being saved for the Afcon.

yEAH HAVE you noticed that joe aribo is better off as a mutli-purpose forward than as a midfielder
Against mozambique he actually played well as a forward.
He cannot play midfiled but he will be a fantastic winger or support strier in a 4 4 2 or any formation.
Telling him to play deep in midfield is lie putting Amokachi in midfield because of his workrate.
he is a good weapon when used well.
He may even be a better winger than chukwueze but jp keeps playing him deep in midfield.

Rohr had Mikel, an inform Etebo, Iwobi and an Inform "EPL" Ndidi. That midfield wasn't as abysmal as this one. Rohr's SE in the WCQs leading to Russia 2018 saw our midfield contribute insanely to the best of football that we played.
At Afcon 2019, Iwobi, Ndidi, Etebo did their best despite certain limitations but most certainly wasn't as abysmal as the 2 man midfield setup Peseiro insists on for most games.

But hey, it's the Afcon and Nigeria has a reputation at the Afcon. We almost always get past the group stages without much wahala and we go far. It didn't happen at the last Afcon. Let's hope this will be different especially if we have a Fit Osimhen back.

Osimhen is one of the key determinants to how far this team will go. Osimhen and the GK, Uzoho more than anyone else most likely. Not to say a few others aren't also key but I pick these two as the most key.

Time will tell.

Odunayaw:
Let's agree to disagree on that.

One thing everyone can say is that Rohr didn't have a world beater as a GK. He had shaky Ekong, abysmal creativity in the middle and to cap it up average (at that time, because it fit worse) game management.

Inspite of this he had a medal. I fancy the chances of the present team.

In no way am I insinuating that you are not a true fan, that's not in dispute in any way, you are a true fan sir. Sometimes and occasionally, certain things happen and they defy logic. Call it pure luck, not sustainable on the long term but luck sometimes shines on the undeserving. Maybe, luck will shine on the SE, odds are against the SE now but like I said earlier, I choose to be optimistic in this case. And I strongly feel it's too late to change the coach before the AFCON.

I grew up in Ibadan and the most famous sports journalist then was a man lnow.as Feyi Ogundiyile, from 1989 when Westerhoff was appointed till 1993, Feyi was on Westerhoff's case, he just never liked him. The highly successful Westerhoff played in 3 AFCONs before he eventually won it in 1994. Mind you he tool over a team that controversially lost to Cameroon in the 1988 finals. I feel we should give JP a little it of time, at least the upcoming AFCON before deciding either to boot him out or give him additional time.
Like we all know, Time is a revealer of all.
One Luv!!!!!
Egbon Feyi Ogundiyile very eloquent man, then I love to watch his sport program on NTA Ibadan channel and I will never forget the day I watched 1988 English FA between Liverpool and Wimbledon through him, then John Fashanu was in top form and Liverpool Bruce Grobellar but it was a goal from Lawrie Sanchez that gave Wimbledon surprised victory.

Yes he never believed in Westerhoff cuz he thought we deserved Senegal 1992 Afcon.

Luck indeed. So all you know in football is luck. No need for proper tactical preps. Smh. I was right. You are really delusional. 😂

Ani Ode ni. lol 😂. If it's by only tactics coaches won't buy players that fits into their system however at National team level you have to make do with what you have. No matter your tactics without quality players nor a little luck you can't win nothing and I gave you two examples. But cos you are dull you couldn't decipher what I meant. Suegbe!! lol 😂.

In my opinion, I don't think Akpom is needed currently. Just a few tweaks here and there
1) change the goalie for starters
2) in the absence of Osimhen, Boniface, Moffi and Awoniyi (if fit) are available
3) Give Sadiq some space for now, let him regain match fitness before inviting him again
4) Chuks may be better off starting from the bench
5) I think Nathan Tella should be given an invite too

One Luv and Jah Bless!!!
Hmmm on JPeseiro I don’t have much to say again cuz having two keepers that will can count numbers of matches they have last season and this season none if am right….inviting Sadiq that played nothing last season showed that he was taking things for granted.

Rohr's decline started from late into 2019 AfconQ. In fact this place was livid when we beat Libya away by the skin of our teeth. It was from then everyone begin to call out Rohr small small.

Also I recall after we huffed and puffed against Madagascar there was no more confidence we were going far. Still recall how tepid we were in the knockouts (save against SA)
No. Rohr's decline started immediately after we qualified for the WC. His pre- world cup friendlies were awful. He started talking negative and poisoned the entire team with his dreary talk.
Then at the world cup we were skreppy. From that point on, it was jaguda football that Rohr made us play.

I meant there have been many instances where coaches that are not tactical have won AFCON trophies. I listed Senegal 2021 and Cameroon 2017. Sometimes a coach that is not supposedly tactical can win trophies if he has good players including a solid goal keeper and a little luck. Zambia 2012 also comes to mind!
I meant AFCON precisely. The post is there for all to read!

Very eloquent, his shows on NTA Ibadan were my favorites!!!!! But as I get plenty people as egbon, enuf time wey dem.no.allow me watch Feyi then. And to the Senegal 92, we outplayed Ghana in the SFs but lost really to Abedi Pele's brilliance (bad man cheesy). And I lived Westerhoff's Algiers 90 team too, got annihilated in the first game but bounced back and lost narrowly in the finals to Algeria off an Alloy Agu mistake (I would say). Westerhoff unearthed Uche Ukechukwu, handed Mutiu Adepoju his SE invite, brought Finidi George, Friday Elahor, Ben Iroha, Dan Amokachi. Moses Kpakor (should have been our Kante but for Village people) into the national team. Was confident enough to give young folks like Oliseh, Babangida, Okocha, Amuneke an opportunity into the SE. Even Ike Anobi, Westerhoff brought him into the SE, though he couldn't make the 23 man team to the WC because of Rufai, Agboni-basket (RIP) and Alloy Agu. Westerhoff was resident in Nigeria, he would play WAFU tournaments with the local players, same thing Keshi did and while Oboabona and MBA may.not gave lasted, they did.what they needed to do at an important occasion.
Any SE coach we have going forward should also stay back in Nigeria, coach the CHAN team, even WAFU team as well, huge business opportunity dey sef. Westerhoff sold some of the boys he discovered and made cool cash doing that. Am not saying we must have a quota for HB players but any coach of the SE should earn his money and play their part in developing our football.

But egbon, Sadiq was invited because your son, Evangelist Awoniyi get injury now. For me, yes Sadiq's current invite isn't justified but I believe it's fair game for a coach to have one or two sentimental selections, a lot of coaches do it, what will be bad is if he continues inviting Sadiq if his club situation doesn't change. Is there a chance he invited Sadiq because there was no Musa or Sanusi on the team? Just me thinking out loud sir.

If I may chime in, tactics are absolutely key but in life, some people say work no be money (ishe ko ni owo), to win tournaments, good tactics and of course luck us required. We see it all the time, I would never forget Nigeria vs Cameroon at the all African games in 91, we had Amuneke, Babangida, John Zaki,.Precious Monye etc on the team, even if a man down (Amuneke got red carded) we totally dominated Cameroon, we lost a penalty, balls were hitting the post, we did everything but score, the only half chance Cameroon had, gbam they scored us and we lost. Several instances were some teams get lucky and others unlucky. I rest my case. In a nutshell, you need both good tactics and luck to win games.
