He's 100 percent right . Oil producing states should be different from niger delta. If oil is found in commercial quantity in the north, will it be part of the nddc? 2 Likes |

MrSly: You and your ilks, not him, are the ones that do not know the meaning of Delta - Niger Delta - under the Nigeria political expression. The way bumpkins like you and your likes like overrating yourselves is both funny and irritating. Now tell me how the latter states in the following quote: "This is particularly true now that oil has been found in other parts of Nigeria including Anambra which is already producing 0.9%, Bauchi, Gombe, Nasarawa, Kogi, and Lagos States." can be defined as "Delta" under the Nigeria political expression. |

NDDC mandate include: ''...tackling ecological and environmental problems that arise from the exploration of oil mineral...''. Imo, and Abia are not coastal states, but they are exposed to the challenges of oil and gas operations. So why exclude them. This is to ensure that all oil producing communities are treated equally and there is no reason to do otherwise. |

And also how Yorubas accommodated them after the civil war, compared to how their properties were seized and code-named 'abandoned ' properties in some other regions, who they (Igbos) now see as their best allies/friends. Abagworo:You're partly correct by calling for the restoration of OMPADEC which focuses projects in actual oil producing communities rather than a blanket for the whole state. It's surprising how people can't seem to identify a common location. Where is the territory called Niger Delta? By geography, it should strictly be the states that are found around where the River Niger forms a delta before emptying into the Atlantic Ocean. Only five states satisfy this definition and they are; Anambra, Delta, Imo, Bayelsa and Rivers states. All these states are oil producing states and by strict definition are the Niger Delta states. If the consideration is for oil producing states that are coastal, only Bayelsa, Rivers, Delta, Akwa Ibom and Ondo are the ones to be considered. Edo and Abia are non-coastal states despite their oil producing statuses while Cross River though coastal isn't oil producing. There's hardly any one consideration to be used for determining what oil producing states should be in NDDC. Since the main consideration is oil producing ability, a more robust name like OMPADEC should be restored to include all states producing crude oil. 2 Likes |

That is not what defines a region. An ethnic group can occupy the entire Ojo Alaba/Amuwo Odofin/Festac in Lagos, it doesn't make them the creator of those places. People are free to migrate anywhere but there are always the original owners of the land . You don't have to type in CAPITAL letters. hammerFC: 1 Like |
