Hello house, I’m about starting a business but don’t know which to go for and it has been giving me a sleepless night due to this current inflation. The first business is a 30 tons gas plant on a 3 plots of land which everything and the building might cost 100m and second business option is buying plenty acres of land for integrated live stock farming since food is essential and people might decide not to buy gas due to the high cost of living. Please I will like the experience people in the house to enlighten me because I don’t even know which one to go for although money is not a problem but I have to choose one. Thanks in advance

Go for the livestock farming option. Also add food crops farming to it so that you can use some of the produce from the crops farming to feed your farm animals, some for your household food needs and for your workers, and the rest for sale.

Also, you can gather the wastes from the livestock farm (feaces and feeds remais) and turn them into compost manure for use as organic fertilizer on your crops farm.

Since you said due to the expensive of how gas is now you choose other option.however, between the two options, observe what they are lacking around the area.there are still some people who are using the gas regardless the hike of the price.
moreso, people who live in the area are also need to put into consideration.

I don't know your location, but if you are in Abuja or can consider Abuja as a base for your business, then opening of a school or guest house will suffice. I won't say anything more than this. Incase, you decides to open a school, I'll be willing to run the consultancy perfectly for you. I have a masters degree in education and over 15 years experience.and Incase the guest house business captures your fancy, I'll connect you to my elder sister. She owns and manages one already. Keep your money where it is now. What you need right now is information. You need the right info to start up a business so as to avoid any risk that may come thereafter. But if i may suggest,i'll prefer you set up a restaurant. If you need info, i'm here.

Why can't you plant tree crops and farm, an acre if palm kernel will give you about 18 tonnes yearly or more but that's the least, a tonne of palm oil currently is around 3million, imagine you multiply 18 times 3, that's around 54 million naira yearly. Most of those in Forbes list are crazy farmer and most are palm oil tycoon. I don't know why most Nigerian are leaving farming yet we claim we need to export to make naira fall but if we don't farm, what do we export?

What type of livestock do you have in mind?

Whichever livestock you decide on, please make sure poultry isn’t one of them.
That business is one of the riskiest business I know.
No matter how much money you pour into it doesn’t guarantee success. Even the experts and professionals incurs huge loss.
There are lots of retirees who ventured into that business and came out with nothing. Their hard earned money down the drain.
The gas thing is a good one. The risk is very very minimal compared to the livestock option.
All the same. I wish you the best in all your endeavors.

On the top of my head I will say gas cos of biological risks associated with livestock ..

But what u must do to make a choice is check out avg ROI, risks, avg failure rate of each, efforts you might need to put in to manage risks and very importantly too, availability of market in your catchment area.

You could also consider splitting…

Or diversifying your capital if you like by investing in both.

Both are good businesses if you make your due diligence in terms of research.

Livestock business is associated with a lot of risks so you may invest gradually or start small until you learn the ropes and feel more comfortable to infuse more capital. But if you get it right you will never regret it. Agriculture is the next big thing.

Gas on the other hand involves a lot of procedures, processes and approvals. Buying products too can be tricky. Sometimes you may even need connection to get products. Gas doesn’t spoil but you need to make research also on a good location. It involves a lot it is Not just buying and selling. It ain’t also risk free.

In the end 100 million is huge amount to invest.

Try not to put all your eggs in a basket!

Choose the one you have deep (enough) knowledge of. The pros and cons.

If you don't know much about it, leave it, and go seek knowledge first.
That is, if you don't want to lose money.

Thanks for the input, but your analysis is somehow confusing because a ton of palm oil is not 3m and I don’t think I can get 18 tons of palm oil on 1 acre of land. I already made a little research about the palm oil plantation and I can see it’s profitable. I’m already in negotiation with a village chief in ogun state to sell 100 acres of land for me for 20m but I’m still thinking either to do the plantation on the 100 acres or imported breed goat farming. Using 20 acres for the goats housing, wearhouse and farm equipment and the remaining 80 acres to plant the goats food.

Thanks for your input, exactly my point gas is not just about buying and selling like people make it sound like something very easy once you have capital. Location really matters and the location of my choice which will get approved faster cost 75% of my capital and that is why I’m looking into Agriculture business because location does not really matter if one has a means of transportation Which is not a problem.

Boss, you can message me on Whatsapp if you aren't that exposed, supergene palm oil gives around 18 tonnes to 30 tonnes per acre or hectares, am not sure if it's acre or hectares. this isn't I think, this is what I know people are into.

Am not saying you should not do goat o, but some business rarely dies than the other, a palm fronds could last for 40 years. So, check all factors and conditions.

Don't bother messaging me please, let's do the talking here. Thanks.

Go for farming but invest in knowledge first. Take out a year to learn all there is to learn about the business you want to invest in and seek God's favor through personal prayer and daily bible readings. They are never a wasted effort asthenia scene of the world is changing too rapidly to think that having a good business idea and capital alone guarantees success
