TROOPS NEUTRALIZE SEVERAL TERRORISTS IN SOKOTO, RECOVER ARMS, AMMUNITION

In a discreet operation against marauding terrorists in Sokoto state, troops of 8 Division Garrison today Tuesday 24 October 2023, launched a carefully planned offensive operation into Tukandu Village, targeting a notorious group of terrorists, responsible for various atrocious and heinous activities in the general area.

The troops' fierce onslaught terminated many of the terrorists, while others fled with gunshot wounds. In the following mop up operations, troops recovered three AK-47 Rifles, one PKT Gun, 125 rounds of 7.62 mm Special ammunition, 2 Rocket propelled Gun Bombs and 9 motorcycles.

The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja has lauded the troops, charging them to remain resolute and continue to escalate their operations against the terrorists to decimate and deny them the freedom of action.

TROOPS ARREST 2 TERRORIST SUPPLIERS, RECOVER WEAPONS, MOTORCYCLES

Following credible intelligence, troops of 1 Division Nigerian Army in the early hours of Tuesday 24 October 2023 arrested two terrorists collaborators and ammunition suppliers in Awon general area of Kachia Local Government Area in Kaduna State. The criminals were arrested in their various houses around Awon based on intelligence from a previously arrested collaborator who has been in troops custody.

The arrested criminals are Shuaibu Lawan and Salihu Usman. Items recovered include one locally made AK 47 rifle, 2 dane guns, 8 rounds of 9mm ammunition, 7 live cartridges and 5 shells of expended cartridges. The items were recovered from where they were earlier buried in the criminals compound.

In another operation the same day, troops of the Division while on clearance operation around Dogon daji-Saulawa general area in Birnin Gwari Local Government Area made contact with terrorists and criminal elements. Troops engaged the criminals in a gun duel forcing them to scamper in disarray due to troops superior fire power. Items recovered include a G3 rifle, 16 Motorcycles, 2 locally made guns and a phone

The General Officer Commanding 1 Division Nigerian Army and Force Commander Operation WHIRL PUNCH, Major General Valentine Okoro has charged the troops to sustain the tempo and rid all criminal elements from the Division's Area of Responsibility.

HMOD, CAS IN TURKIYE TO FACILITATE SPEEDY DELIVERY OF ATTACK HELICOPTERS TO NAF

The Honourable Minister of Defence (HMOD), Mohammed Badaru Abubakar and the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar are currently in Turkiye to facilitate the speedy delivery of the T-129 ATAK helicopters acquired for the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) by the Federal Government. As part of programmes lined up for the visit, the HMOD held talks with his Turkish counterpart, Lieutenant General Yasar Guler (Rtd), on critical bilateral and defence cooperation issues. General Guler promised the HMOD of every support required from the Turkish military and defence companies to further strengthen and accelerate the defeat of terrorism and other criminal challenges facing Nigeria.

The Minister and the CAS also visited some selected Turkish companies, including Turkish Aerospace Industries, MKE, Aselsan and Roketsan. These companies are among highly rated global defence companies renowned for the production of quality defence and military equipment. While at these companies, the HMOD called for improved synergy between the companies and Nigeria through the transfer of defence technology to Nigeria.

Recall that the Federal Government procured 6 T-129 ATAK helicopters from Turkish Aerospace Industry, out of which 2 are to be delivered to the NAF in the coming weeks. The remaining helicopters are expected before the end of Second Quarter of 2024.

Nigerian Airstikes kills 22 Insurgents in North-East

Air strikes against identified terrorists’ hideouts and enclaves in Borno State, Northeast Nigeria, continued over the weekend unabated.

Sequel to intelligence received from Land Component of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) on 29 October 2023, that about 22 terrorists in a gun truck and 2 motorcycles were sighted near Marte, NAF aircraft of the Air Component of OPHK were immediately dispatched to interdict the location. After scanning the area, the terrorists were sighted at about 22 km west of Marte and moving northwards towards Munguno. After trailing the terrorists for about 70 minutes, the terrorists in the gun truck and 2 motorcycles stopped underneath a tree, probably to refuel or evade being seen. The targets were subsequently engaged with a huge ball of fire engulfing the area observed afterward, destroying the gun struck and motorcycles with no sign of movement observed afterward.

The huge explosion could be indicative that the point where the terrorists hid was likely a logistics base or their vehicle was conveying weapons or explosive ordinances.

The failed strategies adopted by terrorists to evade detection and the fire power of the Land and Air Components of Operation Hadin Kai by moving from one point to another is indicative of their inability to hold ground and pose significant threats to military formations or pick on soft civilian targets at will.

They continued to exhibit desperation and weakness through their conduct.

As recent as 28 October 2023, while fielding questions from State House correspondents, Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno State noted that the security situation in Borno State has improved by more than 85 percent while economic activities have picked up.

This attests to the successes of the efforts emplaced by the Armed Forces of Nigeria and other security agencies. According to the Governor, “As the Chief Security Officer of Borno State, we are doing well in terms of security as there has been serious improvement in our security situation and I want to commend the Service Chiefs for their efforts.”

Alot of Islamic movement are pledging support for Palestinians/HAMAS in terms of aids, funds, equipment and young men willing to go and fight even it means their eventual final faith.
Western powers and European countries are also delivering Cargo/equipment and other technical support to Israeli.
This will be a full scale war for Israeli, with some powerful Arab countries folding their arms and watching from distance. The attention has now shifted from Russia/Ukraine to Israeli/Palestinians conflicts.
