You do not need a medical examination to apply for a B1/B2 visiting or F1 student visa at the US embassy I am 100% sure on this . Also , there is nothing like buying appointment slots at the US embassy. Your agent can only apply for emergency visa interview for you if what you are going for is proven to deserve that. Medical examination before issuance of visa only applies to Canada and some other countries. Be careful !

I secured admission to one of the schools in the U.S. and my program starts on Jan 18th 2024. But I was able to secure an interview date for Jan. 25 2024, which is not favorable.
So I requested for EA after submitting my reasons for the EA and attaching my I-20, however I haven't pay my sevis fee when I made the request. 1 days later I got an email "You have received the following message regarding your Emergency/Group scheduling request:

Sevis fee payment is not yet reflected". Now I have made the sevis fee payment, please I want to know if my EA is still under consideration, as they haven't email me back ye.

Please can anyone enlighten me about the process of getting interview dates?
1. Are we going to have one date for everyone? Or we have to take individual interview dates?
2. Does anyone have an idea of how long the wait period is for an interview date?
3. Do we need to book a hotel? I ask because if the interview date is way past our intended travel dates? What do we do with the hotel reservation?

The officer knows how they got their status by their pre checks and they usually don’t ask the person they’re interviewing because they already have their answers and yes I can say for a fact that it does affect, if they don’t find out the first time they will find out later.

At all! Asking how they got their US citizenship is not anyone's business .

All they ask are based on what you filled in your form I.e your economic and family ties here in Nigeria.


You can of course ask their status in the US but not how they got that status.


It is not what many discuss anyways.

I don't understand her/ his argument too. So many people have been rejected because of this issue. Even mothers of the residents. They think it is a joke When we shout people should be careful so that whatever decisions they take won't affect the whole family.

Did you just say it is not the embassy's biz how someone migrated? LOL!!!!!!
Are you aware there's a place in the form where you are asked if you have immediate family in the US. You also need to indicate if they are residents/ citizens. The information they need is in the system without asking the person anything. Even on this forum we have seen it play out. It affects the outcome of visas.

Even travel agencies that charge to help you apply and search for date.... the max I have seen is 300k and that is inclusive of visa fees
Abeg ooo.... even that 300k, I cannot pay anybody for something I can do myself

My kid sis was deny, no much question although this is her first time, does it mean they don't give Visa to first timer again.

She couldn't eat since morning 😔

Who filled her form? Was it for tourism or school? Does she work? Can her salary take care of her trip? Who is she visiting? If you can please post her transcript so people with experience can weigh in.

I know of a family who used another person as their point of contact instead of their overstaying family member(of course they couldn’t use the person), the embassy linked them to that one who overstayed after they escaped and renewed about once or twice they refused them even refused the two sisters husbands who got their visas before he married the sisters just because of the link, all the family members have been refused repeatedly. They went from Abuja to Lagos to Abuja constant refusals.

She work with one of the LCDA here in Lag but the interview was don in Abj

She's going there to attend one of our cousins wedding,, she said the VO didn't even ask her for any doc.
She applied for visiting (B1B2).

If she put herself together, I will aske her more about the interview.




She use the host as a sponsorer (our anuty) as agreed btw them.
Note: she have all the info about our anuty who invited her for the son's wedding...

It's not easy because the US government has been limiting the influx of travelers .. especially 1st timers since the Covid 19 pandemic. All the same that doesn't mean that you should not give it a try . Common go ahead ..you will eventually get the date but with prayer and hard search .

My daughter and I applied for a visiting visa last year and our interview date is January 2024. The problem is, the passports we used to apply have expired and we have renewed but i dont know how to update the new passport details on the application.

Encourage your kid sister to summon courage and reapply . She is not the only one in the situation. Go ahead and pay another visa fee for her and let her defer her admission to fall/Summer 2024. Work on her financial proof of funds and she should be ready to express her post graduate plans to the Visa Officer. Possibly change her location in her next interview. Give her courage that she will get it this time . Cheers !

You will all apply for a B1/B2 visiting visa. How fast you want it to be depends on when they are starting the program but the US church must write an individual invitation letter or collective invitation letter to those in Nigeria bla bla bla.... Some more experienced travellers might shed further light .

USA Visiting visa processing fee depends on what and what you re going for . I e ..You can apply for a conference, you re going for a wedding or graduation , attending a funeral , going to visit a relative , etc . The money to be spent cannot be accurately stated but Do it yourself cost you lesser amount than agent .
