A Nigerian lady has said she regrets graduating with a first class and being the best graduating student of her department.

According to the young lady, she concentrated solely on her academics and forgot to have a social life.

She said she has graduated and has no social skills or any form of network as she did not interact with even her classmates while in school. She said she has come to the sudden realization that having ‘’connections'' in Nigeria is very important.

You don't need connections to land a good job in Nigeria if you are a first class brain. I know several people that landed great jobs because they aced the tests and job interviews and not because of connections.

She's absolutely Correct.
This isn't peculiar to Nigeria but Diaspora as well.
The difference in diasopra is, connection gets you linked to the right people while Academic performance reaffirms your connection with them. In diasopra, there are many you can't sustain discussions with if you do not show any proficiency in academic genealogy.
In Nigeria you don't need all that to occupy the highest office, however you need such to occupy the lowest offices. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

Again, this also goes to Ladies who think Husbands can only be found in Churches or Religious gatherings. I also feel sorry for them. By the time they get to realize that even Jesus turned water into a wine at a wedding ceremony for Young BoBos to consume, their time would have eclipsed.
This is where intelligence surpasses Brilliance.
You can be Brilliant but not Intelligent

first class, second class or third class is just a name

So many successful people in the world today are school drop out

What really matter in life is your trust in God and Trust in yourself

But where is the lie?

I say where is the lie?

A neighbor came out with a third class in Geology and got a job in one of the biggest oil firms in Nigeria. Her dad was a top executive....

Anyway, some first class products are still at an advantage in the Job market sha especially for scholarship abroad. Incase, you are thinking it's not worth it. Remember that 3rd class is not worth it either.

Social skills rather than ordinary degree certificate.
In Nigeria now, connection is more important, joke apart.

its awesome to know but school and exams only test your memory not intelligence, most people dont realize these things.most of the men who shaped the world today were not all in top of their class, intelligent minds are usually distracted with ideas, its hard for an intelligent mind to focus on something because it wants to solve almost every problem,i and a friend who came top of our class took an IQ test, i scored an iq of 132 while he scored an IQ score of 107. this guy remembers books page by page and word for word yet has a low IQ,to be successful in life you need just more than good grades as this Lady have said, building a great relationship with people could go a long way to ensure you got to the bridges which would elevate your status.

The truth is, the course shouldn’t matter! That’s a very poor way of rationalizing the failure of the system. The course was created as a discipline for a reason. Here in the USA, someone majoring in playing Tuba is fully funded and well paid!

Are you minding her. I have worked with 4 different organizations (3 of which are large corporations, 1 medium sized).

I didn’t need any human connection to get into any one of them. Just Baba God and my application.

how many first class graduate do you know compared to thousands of them currently doing menial jobs just to survive

Nigerian job or position is majorly by who you know or what you can offer, however striving for first class shouldn’t top you from mingling with people or making that connection

My first job was purely the work of a secondary school mate who works in that organization. I didn’t apply for the job, neither was the interview serious, I got the job because he convinced his bosses I could do it and I excelled in that position

that is the level of how worse the country is, due to rate of unemployment. A PhD holder is riding okada to survive. So it's not a matter of degree now, there are lots of first class graduates still jobless.

Truth..

When the wrong parents and guardians raise you, you will become a societal mistake ..

Socialization is the hidden secret to success in Nigeria..

A reason I am against Religious private uni locking up kids in their school….

The pastors like Oyedepo under estimate social skills..

They are creating a generational problem for Nigeria…
