Since Jesus prayed that his disciples be one just as he and his father are one and Jesus called them his brothers? Is the number not more than 10?
Jesus said the father his greater than himself
John 17 :11

Holy Father, protect them by Your name, the name You gave me, so that they may be one as we are one

Jesus means...... Jehovah is salvation,” or “Jehovah saves,” or “Jehovah will save

Whatever this name aspect means, it is the precursor to a greater accomplishment;

they may be one as we are one.

This name that Jesus bears is the reason, the principle, to achieve oneness - to the point it that would be impossible if absent.

As the angel said to Joseph, “You shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.” Jesus. Yeshua, meaning “Yahweh saves.”.... Or Jehovah is salvation,” or “Jehovah saves,” or “Jehovah will save

So Jesus was saying to God the father keep my disciples one in faith through the name you have given me
Which you also bear

So where ever the body is of Christ is the name they will use to be one with the son and the father

Will be the name of Jesus.

So any church that wants to be one with both the son and the father must use Jesus name to end all prayers......

Now
This is why Jesus said God the father is greater than him

Philippians 2:5-11 (ESV)

5 Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, 6 who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped,.
7 but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. 8 And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.
9 Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, 10 so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth,

Because as fully man and fully God
Jesus empty himself and became a servant.

Now the question you should now think about is why then did God the father give Jesus a name that is greater than all names in the universe the name God gave Jesus is even greater than the fathers name
. Hope you know this.
Hope you know that Jesus name is greater than any name every name that you know.

You CAN LOSE YOUR SALVATION. it was freely given, yet rejecting it, is what puts you on the path of damnation.

As a believer, You have got to WORK IT OUT DAILY. Being unrepentant about sin, especially hidden sins, is you choosing to go back to join the damned.

It is of the heart we receive salvation, it is of the heart it is MAINTAINED.

SALVATION MUST BE MAINTAINED IF YOU MUST OBTAIN ETERNAL LIFE!

That same principle is what God said he will use to justify those who believe in Jesus they automatically become saved and he gives them eternal life.

Question 2 Peter 2:20-22

2 Peter 2:20-22
20 Certainly if after escaping from the defilements of the world by an accurate knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they get involved again with these very things and are overcome, their final state has become worse for them than the first.
21 It would have been better for them not to have accurately known the path of righteousness than after knowing it to turn away from the holy commandment they had received.
22 What the true proverb says has happened to them: “The dog has returned to its own vomit, and the sow that was bathed to rolling in the mire.”
Answer..

In this world of anxiety and fear, it is a radical thing to proclaim the eternal security of the believer.

One with the Lord, your future is the same as his. No one can snatch you from his hand; nothing can separate you from his love.

Yet every time I say stuff like this, someone will point to 2 Peter 2 as though this one chapter could undo the many promises of God and make Christ’s saving work of no effect.

“Peter writes about Christians who forsook the Lord and were condemned,” they say. “So much for once saved, always saved.”

Aargh. You got me. That one verse undoes the whole Bible.

Sheesh.

Hardly a month goes by when I don’t have occasion to talk about 2 Peter 2. Does 2 Peter 2 say you can lose your salvation? No! In this chapter, Peter warns about false teachers who deny the Lord and teach heresy. He is NOT referring to Christians. These heretics are slaves of depravity (v.19) who never stop sinning (v.14). They are not saints but brute beasts who are condemned to perish (v.12).

But were these sinners once saints? Were they Christians who lost the way, and fell beyond the reach of grace?

This is an important question, because if they were once saved, then you can lose your salvation. Just as these false teachers were doomed to reap “swift destruction,” you too could be headed for hell – if you don’t take care.

Is Peter talking about backslidden Christians?
According to nearly every commentary I have read, the answer is they will say is yes.

Because they don't know Bible
They say this are
“These were genuine Christians who turned their back on God and will now get a worse punishment than the one who never met Jesus.”

Oh so we can now say oh happy day.... Well not yet now

Even certain grace teachers are convinced that Peter is describing former Christians who are now damned. But were these people ever saved? At first glance, the evidence seems clear enough, for Peter says these false teachers…

– have left the right way and gone astray (v.15)
– have escaped the defilements of the world only to become entangled again (v.20)
– once knew the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ (v.20) and the way of righteousness (v.21)
– have returned to the muck like a pig (v.22)

So there you have it. Close your Bibles and get busy working out your salvation because if you don’t stay on the right way you’re doomed. Like these guys. “Blackest darkness is reserved for them” (v.17), and you too if you’re not careful.

And yet, don’t you find it interesting that Peter never says, “Be warned, dear friends, what happened to them could happen to you”?

He never says it because it CANNOT happen. The very idea that our sins could outlast God’s grace is absurd.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: You may shipwreck your faith, and go astray, but your heavenly Father will never abandon or forsake you. What the Lord begins he finishes.

So how do we read 2 Peter 2?
The key to unlocking this passage is Balaam:

They (the false teachers) have left the straight way and wandered off to follow the way of Balaam son of Bezer, who loved the wages of wickedness. (2 Peter 2:15)

You may recall that Balaam the prophet was recruited by the king of Moab to curse the children of Israel (Numbers 22-24). But after encountering the Lord three times – one encounter famously involved a talking donkey and an angel – Balaam did a volte-face and blessed the children of Israel instead.

Smart man, that Balaam.

The Moabite king was furious that Balaam had not done what he asked. So Balaam, realizing he was about to be sent home empty-handed, taught the king how to defeat Israel (Rev 2:14).

Long story short, the men of Israel were seduced by Moabite women and turned away from the Lord (Num 25:1-3). They were on the doorstep of the Promised Land yet they almost never entered, all because of greedy Balaam.

Not so smart man, that Balaam.

The Israelites eventually repented and pressed on to Canaan. On the way they killed the false prophet Balaam who had done them so much harm (Num 31:8

Bye bye, Balaam.

When Peter says, “These false teachers are just like Balaam,” he’s saying they are on the wrong side of God. “By perverting the gospel, they are trying to curse what God has blessed. And like Balaam, they will come to a bad end.”

With this key in hand, we can now unlock the difficult verses of 2 Peter 2.

Who are the followers of Balaam?
Verse 15: They have forsaken the right way, and gone astray, following the way of Balaam who loved the wages of unrighteousness…

Peter is not describing Christians but people who have known the way to go – as Balaam did – and rejected it. Balaam had a personal encounter with the Lord. He heard God speak,
But when the money was on the table, Balaam made the wrong choice. He opposed God just as false teachers do whenever they pervert the gospel.

Verse 20: For if, after they have escaped the defilements of the world by the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled in them and are overcome, the last state has become worse for them than the first.

Balaam initially stood up to the king of Moab, yet he never aligned himself with the Lord. Which was strange. If the Israelites were as blessed as he said, why not join them? Why stay with the cursed king of Moab?

The prophet was like those Hebrews who escaped the defilements of Egypt but did not enter the Promised Land. They came out but never went in. They died in the wilderness on account of unbelief.

Verse 21: For it would be better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than having known it, to turn away from the holy commandment handed on to them.

The one who rejects the way of righteousness (the gospel) is worse off than the one who has not heard it because he has hardened his heart to that which could save him. He has refused the Lord’s holy command to “repent and believe the good news” (see 1 John 3:23).

I hope you can see that a follower of Balaam is not a follower of Jesus. It is someone who has heard and rejected the gospel. They’ve had an encounter with the Lord but turned their back. They’ve tasted the bread of life and spat it out. They have not responded with faith to the grace of God.

Verse 22: It has happened to them according to the true proverb, “A dog returns to its own vomit,” and, “A sow, after washing, returns to wallowing in the mire.”

A Christian is not a dog or a pig! A washed sow remains a sow, but a Christian is a brand new creation.

If you don’t know about your union with Christ, you may fall for the lie that says you can lose your salvation. You may even think that Peter is describing condemned Christians.

Fear not; there is no such thing.... Because your salvation is forever nothing can separate you from God

Read it take your time and wait for the next response from me I will explain the other chapters in the next post I post let me study it

Many times the holy spirit spoke in the Bible
He is the unseen power being that can bring his presence to appear in various forms

Like wind or force or dove or anything you can think of that is how he manifest his presence

He brings a power you can feel that why I wrote not just a force

Read where Jesus said if you annoy him or ascribe his power to be Satan power then you will not be forgiven by God the father or by Jesus.

You don't understand spiritual things.

God's Holy Spirit speaks to believers through studying the scriptures and meditating on how Jesus applied what is written not that God's Holy Spirit speaks literally. Get the sense now! smiley

You did not work to be saved you can only lose what you work for

You were bought with a price the price of the blood of Jesus our God

Kindly read the past explanation I gave then state a verse that has you still thinking that you can lose it.
Did the bible say or not, that you should "work out your salvation in fear and in trembling"?

Kingsnairaland:
John 17 :11

Holy Father, protect them by Your name, the name You gave me, so that they may be one as we are one

Jesus means...... Jehovah is salvation,” or “Jehovah saves,” or “Jehovah will save

Whatever this name aspect means, it is the precursor to a greater accomplishment;

they may be one as we are one.

@ John 14:28 Jesus said:" the Father is greater than I am."
Compare 1 Corinthians 11:3 & John 11:7
The name Jesus was given is NOT Superior to JEHOVAH, his Father's name.

Don't you know that the real meaning of Father is "Senior/Elder"?

Does God's finger grieve?

Did the bible say or not, that you should "workout your salvation in fear and in trembling"?
Any work in the new Testament Bible is actually only to believe in Jesus that all that is the only work Jesus commanded every one to do.....

Is to believe in Jesus.......... So working out your salvation means to believe in Jesus..... Then God will work in you and through you.

Under law we work for God, but under grace we do the work of God. The work of God is believing in Jesus and revealing his finished work in our broken world. Which kind of works do you think Paul was describing here in Philippians 2

Philippians 2:13
…for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for his good pleasure. (

If God is the one working, what part do we play? We are the ones who decide who gets to see his work.

Let explain further.............

Philippians 2:12
Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling…

What does it mean to work out your salvation with fear and trembling?

Some say salvation is something to work for, that we must tip-toe fearfully through life lest we upset a wrathful God and find ourselves thrown into hell. It sounds spiritual, but it’s an anti-christ message that insults the Spirit of grace.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: Jesus did it all! His work was perfectly perfect and completely complete. Because of his sacrifice you have been made perfect forever. As he is, so are you. Rest in him.

Work out your salvation…
But what does it mean to work out your own salvation? We have this idea that salvation equals forgiveness, but it is so much more than that.

Salvation is the word soteria which includes “deliverance, preservation, safety, and salvation.” It is a picture of a new life where all your needs – your need for forgiveness, deliverance, healing, provision – are supplied according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus (Ph 4:19).

On the cross Jesus provided for your complete salvation, healing, and deliverance. If your old way of life was characterized by poverty, curses and never enough, then your new life in Christ is one of abundance, blessings and more than enough.

But you might say, I don’t see it. I’m not healthy. I’m not prospering. I’m not overcoming.

Then work it out.

Don’t ask Jesus to come – he already did. Don’t ask him to provide – he’s provided already. He forgave you and healed you at the cross. In him you lack nothing (Eph 1:3).

The problem with asking God to do things he’s already done is that it makes us passive and requires no faith. Paul is not exhorting us to be idle but to work out in our own lives the implications of Christ’s powerful sacrifice.

How do you do it?

It begins by changing the way you think. Renew your mind. Look to the empty tomb, behold the glory of your risen King, and declare his goodness and grace over your situation. Grace and peace will be multiplied to you as you grow in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord (2 Pet 1:2).

…with fear and trembling

with fear and trembling
I used to think that this phrase was describing our proper state before God – that we should be afraid and tremble because even after a lifetime of service God might judge that we haven’t done enough for him. Well thank God for the cross! God isn’t looking at me but Jesus who is our perfect and acceptable sacrifice.

I no longer fear judgment because my sin has been punished and I am clothed with Christ.

In the passage above, Paul is not talking about judgment at all, but the outworking of our salvation. Surely this is a good thing, seeing the fruit of Gods work in our lives. Why are fear and trembling involved? Because trusting God can be scary.

I recently saw a video of a paralyzed lady who got out of her wheelchair and took her first steps in 23 years. She was trembling when she did it. I can only imagine what was going through her mind.

What if I fail? What if I fall on my face in front of hundreds of people?

Her wheelchair was her comfort zone, but in faith she faced her fears and received a miracle. The healing that Jesus provided for her 2000 years ago was apprehended by faith.

Faith is risky. Faith does not come naturally and is often accompanied by fear and trembling.

How do you think Abraham felt as he was about to plunge the knife into Isaac? We know that Abraham was fully persuaded that God would raise the dead – that’s faith – but he would not have been human if his hand had not trembled.

And do you think Rahab was in a joyful mood when she welcomed the spies of Israel into her home? Her faith meant a death sentence if the soldiers of Jericho discovered her treason.

Or what about Daniel in the lions’ den?

Or David facing the giant?

Or Moses standing up to Pharaoh? Scary moments!

Faith often involves putting something on the line. It might be your comfort, your reputation, your family, your funds, even your life – but something is risked or else it’s not faith.

And I, brethren, when I came to you, did not come with excellence of speech or of wisdom declaring to you the testimony of God. For I determined not to know anything among you except Jesus Christ and him crucified. I was with you in weakness, in fear, and in much trembling. (1 Corinthians 2:1-3

Paul was a mighty man of faith, yet he came to Corinth in fear and in much trembling. In other words, he didn’t want to go. In fact, Paul was so fearful that God had to step in and say “do not be afraid” (Acts 18:9

There’s grace for us here. Paul is saying, “it’s not wrong to be fearful.” But in the presence of these feelings, work out your salvation anyway. Take the faith-risk, because you will be blessed if you do.

…and you will be blessed if you stay

A preacher of works will use Philippians 2:12 to motivate you to perform out of fear. But there is a big difference between works done under law and works done under grace.

Under law we work for God, but under grace we do the work of God. The work of God is believing in Jesus and revealing his finished work in our broken world. Which kind of works do you think Paul was describing here in Philippians 2

…for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for his good pleasure. (Philippians 2:13

If God is the one working, what part do we play? We are the ones who decide who gets to see his work.

God is God, but in his wisdom he has chosen to reveal himself through the faith of his saints. We preach with our mouths and his signs and wonders follow. We lay our hands on the sick and his healing is released.

Paul didn’t want to go to Corinth but he went anyway. Despite his fear and trembling he preached Christ crucified and the result was that many Corinthians believed and were baptized (Acts 18:8

Jonah didn’t want to preach in Nineveh but he did and an entire city was saved. Both Jonah and Paul took faith-risks despite their fears. As a result, the kingdom of God came to two cities and thousands of people were saved.

Fear and trembling are normal. What you do with fear is the thing. We can live afraid and see nothing change, or we can face our fears and see the kingdom come.

Working out our salvation means that at some point we’re going to have to get out of the boat and take a risk. God won’t punish us if we hold back – this has nothing to do with punishment.

But we will blessed, and the nations will be blessed through us, when we reveal Jesus.

Glory.

Brother Janosky your small problem is English

Let me use worldly examples to clear it for you

Let say tinubu is 20 years and is president and his elder brother is 30 years and that his brother carries
Weight lifting and has muscles

Tinubu can come out and say my brother is greater than me

But when it comes to the people that work in every armed force in Nigeria

Military men only will obey tinubu name because he is the president of Nigeria

But to tinubu his brother is actually stronger than him but he does not have the name

God put Jesus name above every name that at the mention of Jesus every thing every knee will bow

So you don't understand the difference between Jesus name and God the father name

You can only deal with devil in Jesus name not God the father name.
