Edo is the largest tribe, WAZOBIA scheme was implemented by the colonial people because the Benin kingdom and Edo people can not work with European/English devils, rather, we went to war with them(British and Benin War, late 18th century. We must throw that WAZOBIA scam in the dustbin forever. Thank God now we have 6 geopolitical zones. God bless South South.

Probably because they move more to Yorubaland and get yoruabanized on daily basis.

They sold Igbo slaves to the Portuguese, but we never wanted to be part of colonial Nigeria, we resisted being colonized and joined with this contraption...the British people had to wage a full scale war, after Edo warriors killed their emissary spies that they sent to conquer all tribes and parts of this part of West Africa. We are not slaves like you WAZOBIA idiots who gladly surrendered to the white man, to get a position from your slave master. We earned our empire with blood and tears.

If there is any group in the south that actually gave the British a LONG TERM FIGHT, it is the Igbo.
You need to start chronicling from even before the Anglo-Aro war all the way to Nigeria's independence.
And the war continued under Biafra, and has continued in other ways.
Without Igbo in Southern Nigeria, your fate would be totally different.

The wars and counter insurgency lasted for about 2 years, it was not a quick feat, and even after the Oba was captured, the indegenous people formed insurgency groups, they didn't scatter once the Oba was captured.

Selling of slaves is different from allowing people come into your lands to control the trade and resources...you should know the difference. They didn't want to work with them as a colonized people, slave trade was an international business then that has been going on for more than two hundred years.

The biafran war almost annihilated a lot of Igbos with killings of over 3 millions of Igbos. The entire tribe could have been wiped out by Hausa/Fulani's if not for timely response of Victor Banjo that surrendered to a Yoruba man by the name BLACK SCORPION. Unfortunately Ojukwu killed him to massage his Ego. Just like the "Peter Obi" lost his election but doesn't want to accept defeat due to Ego.

Nnamdi Azikiwe was a sellout, so is Ahmadu Bello, Akintola etc...Edo people never snitch or sellout on their own people. WAZOBIA sold out just to eat at the colonial thieves table and to get the WAZOBIA tag... WAZOBIA is a scam, Edo people are the largest group, after the Hausa groups...but the British know we won't work with them in that colonial bullshit arrangements, so they created the WAZOBIA scam to appease you sell outs.

You are talking nonsense, igbos have no empire or structured system or organized army, when the Islamists jihadist led by Usman Dan fodio were invading West Africa, Edo warriors were the only organized army that pushed back marauders. igbos were not controlling trading routes, down to Lagos, Togo, and down to Cross river, Onitsha, or have you not heard that Edos controlled and built Onitsha?

Benin empire held sway and you can't spread out so much without military prowess. Igbos were local champions, only existed in southeast and Arochukwu areas. Edo people controlled from Benin to Itsekiri, to Onitsha, the whole Niger Delta, down to Lagos, Ondo, Ogun, Togo, down to the borders of Ghana.

The earliest people that entered Lagos are Edo people, igbos only entered Lagos after 1960 independence.

Who still thinks and talks in those languages today in Nigeria?
Igbo people and Zik didn't always align politically.
The men that actually captured Igbo politics are Mazi Mbonu Ojike, Michael Okpara, Emeka Ojukwu, Akanu Ibiam, etc.
Zik was a diehard one Nigerianist. The only Igbo that I know that is.
So, to my point, Igbo and Edo people are one people if you trace their history.
Like I said before, if not for Igbo people in Southern Nigeria (particularly south east where Edo is geographically speaking), the British and their Fulani allies would not show any respect even to your Obas there. Edo would probably have an Emir today.
There is something called "strategic depth", which only Igbo gives to the rest of south eastern Nigeria.
Those who know, know.
So, stop antagonizing your natural allies. It is self defeating.

The British Aro chukwu war lasted for some few days, the town capitulated, and British took over... pockets of rebels were hiding and attacking, but were soon quelled...this is normal with other areas of Nigeria they fought with too. But it took just 4 days to capture the town of Arochukwu.

That's why am telling you that Edos, Benin empire was the controller and protector of the south.

Igbos lived in small groups and hamlets, no empire, no army, no warriors. Edo people built the Benin city walls, Benin moat and defences. I have never heard of Igbo empire, history don't lie. We only know of Nri tribe, it was never an empire, and the Arochukwu clan, so where were your soldiers or glory at?

Igbos were scattered in bushes, no development, no civilization. Stop talking nonsense, you couldn't even defend yourself...there is no recorded wars between igbos and jihadists pre Nigeria times, no one ever heard of igbos in Midwest or southwest or south south, igbos were only active in southeast, and migrated into Ibibio, Efik areas, and formed the Arochukwu clan. Igbos had no strength or clout militarily pre Nigeria. Stop capping, we know history...you people only make mouth now because we live in civil organized times, with United nations, Amnesty etc, when tribes were ruling Africa you people were in the bushes hiding.

You people have never given Edos or South South nothing, all you do is to beg and form parasite everywhere...strategic depth when you attacked Benin even when your enemy was federal government forces. Snakes.
