Sorry for your denial. From your transcript, the information you deposited are lacking in some details:

For example you didn't state whether you're going for BSc or MSc program.
Also, how related is your current work(counseling) to your first degree (if any)?
Just stating that you're a counselor doesn't seem to be convincing enough just as your supposed husband ministry(which kind of ministry, religious, etc?)

Besides, depending on the year you acquired your last degree, you suppose to contribute at least in part to your COA even if your family is willing to sponsor you, especially owing to the fact that you're working except you're nothing doing a paid work.

Saying that you applied to only one school seemed to be a red flag.

In summary, the presentation of your whole facts(intending school, COA, family ties, relevance of your course of study to your present work, post study plans, etc) doesn't look convincing enough

You need to just go beyond just reading transcripts and be more proactive in your visa preparation before thinking of applying again.
All the best.

Good evening everyone,I really appreciate everyone's contribution here.

Ask him if he has applied for US visa before
Or did his wife or girlfriend apply
Or has he used an agent for do his application
Drill him well
It may have been years ago

What would have happened if he had applied before, someone else had applied on his behalf, or he had used an agent? How did this affect his rejection? I don’t get your response here

Experienced friends, kindly help.

I graduated with a 1st Class, BSC Nursing and currently working in a Federal Teaching Hospital.

I have two options I wish to explore:
1. Apply for a masters degree in either the US or Canada.
2. Go to Philippines for my NCLEX and then apply for jobs in either US or Canada.

Which would you suggest, especially on a budget of 12m.

Kindly assist.

Hey !

No !! Public school in the US is not the same as dependency burden . Otherwise kindly define or tell us here the meaning of dependency burden ...waiting

95% of Africans or let's say international students attends Public Universities in the US because majority cannot afford private Universities..infact, the VOs does not expect you to apply to private Universities because they naturally thinks you cannot afford it...So tell us don't we pay for the school fees and other expenses at the public Universities in the US ?

Back to the kids ...Nobody can sit down here and type the VO will automatically deny both kids visas ....it's s lie because no one here works as a VO or consular ..we are just giving advice based on past experiences and personal research.

@ Masqullette

There are many NGOs and Private organisations funded or supported high , elementary and middle schools in the United States (THEY SUPPORTS NEW ARRIVALS KIDS EDUCATIONAL ISSUES) . , Therefore, let your sister go ahead with her visa application . She is not the first person to go that route and she is not going to be the last ..

She is not claiming refugee nor an asylum seeker , the VOs knows that if she is an outstanding student she might eventually become an instrument of knowledge for America by dolling out knowledge as a lecturer or by working which turns her to a tax payer too.

LET HER GO AHEAD IF SHE HAS THE FINANCIAL CAPABILITY....THE VISA IS NOT 100% GUARANTEE BUT MANY PEOPLE HAVE DONE IT IN THE PAST ...SHE SHOULD BE DETERMINE AND DO HER ASSIGNMENT VERY WELL.

There is God ..Don't give up.
Yes, public school is a dependency burden.
In most US cities and counties, you can only attend public school in your city/county where your taxes fund the local education.
If you bring your kids to enroll in a public school where you havent paid taxes, you’re taking away resources from folks who have paid taxes to fund local education.
VOs are Americans and understand US local politics and tax laws very well. They’ll likely deny her and her kids.

That’s why universities may offer scholarship to cover funding for an applicant and may still require the applicant to provide additional funding for dependents

Nobody has the crystal ball to predict an actual result for each applicant…. But some applicants have far less chances than others.

Per Naija God working for Naija applicants.. India,China, and Bangladesh, etc dont believe in Naija God… but they have more approval rates than Naija.. our God dey slack??

Good evening everyone, thank you all for all you do here. I have read through some pages of this thread and I still don’t have a concrete answer. Can someone on USA student visa take their spouse and children along? Does student visa cover dependants. Kindly clarify, thanks a lot

So that ‘someone’ who’s got the US Visa didnt apply with his/family members?
Per my limited understanding, US visas are issued on individual basis..even if you’re traveling as a family.. each intending traveler must apply.
If you have an F1 visa, some immediate family members can ride on your benefits of F1…. But each rider must apply and be approved for F2. This is my my understanding by Night School attendance. Consult your immigration lawyer. Good luck!

I think your two options look great and promising. However, bear in mind that to practice clinically as a nurse in USA or Canada, you need NCLEX (if I am not mistaken).

As others commented, you can apply for MSc or PhD and you have high chances of getting funding. But you have to define the path you want and also know the timeline involved in finishing PhD program.
You can prepare and write the NCLEX while doing your PhD or MSc (as the case may be) and use the opportunity to also network.

Hey !

Yes .Someone who is planning to study in the US on an F1 (student visa) can take his or her family along on an F2 (dependent visa) ...But your family on the F2 are counted as depending on you because they cannot work over there ( although i think an adult on F2 can still changes status on arrival ).

The F1 categories who have higher chances to take family along on F2 is a PhD applicant follows by clergy men (pastors) who are going to a mission / Bible colleges (can apply for family or spouse on F2.

An MSc (Bsc out of it but not 100% impossible) applicant applying for spouse or family on F2 visa success is dim but if he or she follows the normal procedure and convince the VO beyond doubts of his or her financial capability then why not he or she will get the visa ....it has happened before and still happening.

In your case , if you have not gotten your visa and you really want to go along with your family then you can still ask your school to issue F2 Form I 20s for you...Nothing is impossible if you give the VO CONVINCING AND GENUINE REASONS.

If you have gotten your visa already ...I don't know if the school can still issue F2 Form I 20s to them ... Or let them come as a visitor during your graduation or at a later time if you re not in a haste .

There is God. Don't give up.

Thank you Sir for your kind reply.

I already looked up MSC admissions in both countries for Nursing and found that I have to be licensed to practice before I can enroll and licensing requires writing NCLEX too.

I considered applying for MSC in other Health fields like Gerontology but I'm afraid it may be a deviation from my undergraduate field.

Also, for the PhD, what would be the requirement?

Sorry to bother you.

Per my limited knowledge, no 2 schools have the same admission requirements. Some do take intl students without NCLEX. You have to reach out to more schools.
Start applying to schools and stop looking at general information boards. One tested experience is better 10 scenarios posted on info board. You’re a unique candidate with your unique qualities.

Why are you considering other health-related programs… when ur nursing degree and NCLEX can you a multiple job offers in the US? It will also give you a path to citizenship.
Also, if you get tired of your PhD program, you can master out of it, and take your MS and NCKEX to job market. Either way, you are going to be fine. Good luck

Hey !

Going for an MSc with 2 teenagers seems like RELOCATION GIMMICK but if she plays her game well she will get the visa .

1. She has to proof to the VO that she has more than enough money as she is going to cater for both dependents ...that can be in the form of a fixed deposit account ...reliable source of money from Nigeria , husband funds from Nigeria etc while she is studying in the USA as an MSc student .

2. I will recommend that she look for a college for the kid that has finished high school right now and print out email correspondence from the college or University....THE VO espects both kids to enroll to school upon their arrival in the USA because they cannot work.

3. She should look for an appropriate high school for the one in Junior school and also print out email correspondence from the school . THE IDEA HERE IS TO SHOW THE VO THAT SHE HAS MADE EDUCATIONAL ARRANGEMENTS FOR BOTH KIDS BEFORE LEAVING NIGERIA .

4. She should tell the VO the dangers of leaving them behind ... perhaps they use to fall sick if they don't see her within 1 week....perhaps they can be easily manipulated into bad influence without the mother ....perhaps they are asthmatic and she is the only one that knows their medical needs ETC ..All those mentioned are some of the excuses that can beat the VOs.

In all, she has to convince the VO beyond reasonable doubt that she has MORE THAN enough money for the upkeep and academics of both kids because the VO won't want the kids to become a dependency burden on American government.

There is God ..Don't give up.

Her second child is essentially leaving school here and planning to enter a public school in the US, where his parents have never paid tax. The first kid is already done with secondary school and is likely looking to start his undergrad. My hunch is that both the kids will be denied.

Hi Oluwadamilola97

Good evening, I am an intending F1 student and was denied visa on July 30, 2023 and since then trying to get a new date after paying a new visa fee, yet my portal keeps saying ''no available dates now''

Wanted to know how you got your date as I can see you recently posted to inform that you got a date. Are you a first timer or what kind of suggestion would have post for us 2nd attempt to get a date in December 2023.

Thanks.
