Of course! Legality comes from marrying in the courts. Your brideprices are nothing of the legal route but of the traditional route which ae only accepted but not necessarily recognized as being legal. For a marriage to be certified legal, it has to be registered with the courts.

This is how some of you mislead some of your sisters and make them believe that traditional marriage is the main thing they need and that court wedding is not really compulsory as long as they have obeyed the tradition..

Let me tell you , if such lady lose her husband in the future or if any dispute comes up in the future, a legally married woman and the legal kids are the only one that can LEGALLY claim the properties of her late husband.....even if another woman shows up tomorrow and shows evidence of the court wedding with her husband , such woman will be entitled to it , go to magistrate court everyday and see all these things happening consistently....when chioma kept insisting that Davido must do court wedding with her even after the traditional marriage was done, you think her family do not know what they are doing abi ??
