Islie:Nobody go come save this country, the lavish spending is getting too much from Alex Otti to Adeleke in school feeding programs and Sanwolu spending 7.8 m for his luxurious perfumes, I give up, I don’t tolerate any kind of stupidity in government regardless of the political party involved, same way Buhari introduced this criminal agenda of school feeding to embezzle money, one thing about this country govt once one person initiated the ideas others will execute it, Buhari and Tinubu are greatest set back to this country

indigenous234:Stupid much, obidient/internet bandits, a group of largely unthinking nitwitts. Budget scrutiny does not start in 2023. As soon as FOI bill was passed into law, states expenditures were thrown open for public scrutiny, aside federal budget which has always been in the public eye. Through public scrutiny, a few Governors had been invited by EFCC and have had their day in court, some ended up with plea bargaining, some jailed. Most likely you were still much younger playing barebutt in the rain, go ask an elder at home. |

Babangidapikin: ^^^ The money has been spent. It isn't 'just a budget'. The third quarter figures are in already. The headline is sensational though. The N2 billion spent on refreshments, meals and welfare package was spent on state government workers and not just one man. But...whether that much should be spent on food and an undefined 'welfare package' is another matter entirely. And to raise even more questions, the budget for food in the revised 2023 budget is more than twice the original budget estimate. Adeleke sent this revised budget to the House and the House passed it, no questions asked. Anyone who has a video recording of the session where state lawmakers passed the revised 2023 budget should kindly upload or provide a link. Same thing for the report of the relevant House of Assembly committee on finance/budget/economic planning etc. so that we can all see it. |

Skyview01: ^^^ Not sure what you mean. Looking like an activist (whatever that means) and having leadership qualities are not mutually exclusive. And if (as you say) Nigerians have a natural aversion to 'activists' as political leaders...and we choose to vote in 'non-activists' who will maintain the status quo...then we must live with the consequences. |

It appears Osun state has FOI legislation. If this is true (and it is proper legislation and not some half baked nonsense) then it is a plus for the people. But...it also appears that while Osun state lawmakers have passed legislation that explicitly grants financial autonomy to the legislature, governor Adeleke has not yet assented to the Bill...and PASAN reportedly went on strike 2 months ago because of this. If indeed this is true, then its slowly beginning to make sense why lawmakers didn't ask hard, probing questions about Adeleke's revised 2023 budget...a budget in which 3rd quarter expenditure on 'food' is over 60% of the entire 2023 budget for food initially approved by lawmakers. The struggle continues. |
