During the government of President Olusegun Obasanjo, Nigeria hosted the Miss World Beauty Contest.

The whole of the Islamic Northern states including their people in Abuja FCT erupted in anger.

The Northerners that are of the Islamic faith questioned why Nigeria must host a competition that involved women or ladies exposing their bodies.

They forgot that cultures varies in Nigeria and if we are to live as Nigerians we must tolerate one another culture and feelings.

In order to pacify the muslims in the north, the Obasanjo government had to instruct the organizers of the competition to relocate the beauty contest to London.

This is uncalled for considering the fact that Nigeria is a secular state that has no religion as a state religion.

But this goes to show the level of intolerance of religious people in Nigeria particularly the NORTHERNERS who are predominantly muslims.

ISLAMIC NORTHERN NIGERIA READ MEANINGS TO EVERY ACTIONS IN NIGERIA WHETHER IT IS DIRECTLY AT THEM OR NOT.

A good example is the way Sheikh Abubakar Gumi reacted when Mr Nyesom Wike, former governor of Rivers state was appointed Minister of the Federal Capital Territory by the Tinubu government.

Sheikh Gumi felt flies as falling on his plate of Tuwo.

Sheikh Gumi felt the positions of the Ministers of the federal capital territory must be a preservatives of the north and not only the northerners but northerners of Islamic faith.

You nailed it. Jesus example is what pope is following. While I am not completely sold on trans issue, I don't judge and let that be between you and your God. It's Christ-like to treat all human with decency in respective of their gender, sexual orientation.

As a Christian, I would say that this is one reason I respect Islam as a religion.

okay, but can the pope draw them to the Kingdom? No. It's now a world where we normalize all abnormal things that the few normal people are made to look like that abnormal and weird ones. And don't you think it's the world that is now winning Christian's to themselves and not the other way round?

Jesus dined and wined with tax collectors and sinners so this is supposed to be mimicking him, but I believe there should be and objective. The LGBTQ++++society and community would hold this up as an endorsement. If through this meeting these men-women are evangelised to and some converted them objective would be okay. If not, pretty sad.

When you read at some of the comments you realise very few people understand the basics of Christianity. To the average Nigerian Christianity is about Miracles, Tithes and Back to Sender. I have always admired the wisdom and humility of Pope Francis. Jesus was no different
