So many government sponsored posts and posters on NL these days; I wonder if the OP knows that so many people took him interest loans that they're paying back from diaspora just to leave the country and most likely be able to give their children and next generations a break in life.
If you still have a bit of your morals, you'll know that virtually every sector of Nigeria is riddled with multidimensional corruption etc which renders hardwork unrecognized; every teen now only wants to be a celebrity and hardwork is not encouraged.
This is my opinion undecided undecided undecided

One major problem in Nigerian is the Herd Mentality syndrome.

Once you start up any trend in Nigeria that promises to bring in fortune. The rest of the population will blindly and quickly jump into it without applying due diligence. Check Pos business, Content creation, MMM etc other African countries don't behave this way.

Those that will lose on this trend are the ones who have something meaningful doing in Nigeria and those who sold solid properties to Japa.

Hardship is everywhere, is only dvmb people that doesn't know it.
You can never compare the hardships in Nigeria to that of the US and other saner clines. Hardship for US no worst reach say make they no see food chop unlike Nigeria where an average Nigerians cannot afford 3 square meal daily

This is a very big argument and I can say that proverty rate is really exaggerated.

The rate at which people are making millions in Nigeria is mind blowing and no where in the world do people make such money in savings even in UK, Canada and US.

Keep decieving yourself grin
When you're done decieving yourself you go go sleep grin

An average Nigerians cannot afford 3 square meal daily
An average Nigerians cannot afford a bag of rice presently
An average Nigerians doesn't have a car which ought to be a necessity
An average Nigerians doesn't have access to quality healthcare
An average Nigerians doesn't have access to clean water
An average Nigerians children below 7 are malnourished
Take this to the bank

With the rate at which Nigerians are leaving Nigeria, you will think with N50k you can japa from that country. Every Tom, Dick and Harry have left, the remaining ones are just waiting to buy their flight ticket.

I doubt if we still have up to 1 million people left in Nigeria at this time. So where is that multidimensional poverty statistics coming from? If almost everybody can afford the cost of Japa that doesn't come cheap. This makes me to come to the conclusion that, Nigerians might not have money in their bank account, but majority have tangible assets that can be easily converted to cash if the need arises.
you are absolutely wrong, the fact that there are many vehicles plying the road does not mean that every Nigerian has a car or can afford one
The Nigerians that has migrated to other countries are not up to 20,,% of the population, majority of them took loans to leave, which is easy to pay back when you have settled down, considering the exchange rate.
Not every Nigerian like to Japa to other country to slave for money despite the economic conditions of this country

Yes,u are right.

Someone is currently on my head now to buy his land just behind my house in the east, and as it is now,he want to use it to pay for his sons fee abroad.

Truly,Nigerians are selling their assets just to meet up.

Actual population of Nigeria is around 340million and guess how many Nigerians living abroad?

Not up to 15million Nigerians live outside Nigeria both legally and illegally, and total number of Nigerians that have migrated out of Nigeria since Buhari/APC came to power and made Nigerians hopeless and scared of the future to start mass migration to virtually all countries of the world is not up to 3million Nigerians, so how can you use such insignificant number of Nigerians who are mostly the middleclass to measure poverty level in Nigeria ?

Now Buhari is out some of his Cabinet members are saying Buhari messed up a lot of things and made Nigeria Bankrupt. Una just de wake up.

Nigeria has a very large population that’s why the average ones as you have said are overshadowing others but I will tell you also for a fact that there are rich and comfortable people in Nigeria compared to other country.

Poverty isn't exaggerated but rich people plenty for Naija.

I always see ATMs and Banks full. Yes, people come to withdraw as little as 1000 naira. But still....

Domestic air tickets are ridiculous and don't even go near the international ones... Yet you would still see airports & planes full.

I bought domestic tickets on time, i.e. 2 months before Christmas at 100k, one way. Tell me how someone with 300k salary can afford 200k for just tickets?

But mehnnn, there is poverty every where. Even bankers and doctors, who are in the top earners dey hear am.

I work for an international organisation; my foreign trips and hotels are paid for, lucky me. But I see the guys bring GFs to some of these hotels worth 150k - 300k per night just to screw.

I went to a village in Kogi in 2009 or so, and the youth were saying that a 30k job was their dream ( that's the limit of their own aspirations) shocked

Conclusion : People get money and people are damn hungry out there.

But the fact that we need to tell ourselves is that poor are more than rich and middle class in Nigeria. And the rate at which more people are falling below poverty line calls for concern.

Let me tell you the scope
Some people sell all their properties to japa
Others borrow money from cooperative societies and others with the aim of paying it back within a year.

I sold my house and everything to Japa and I am not regretting it. Thanks to my wife that have good foresight. I know how much I pay on school fees alone in Nigeria while here school is free for my kids, I only pay for food £12 per week.

While in Nigeria before the month end like this, I am already looking for who to borrow money from to fuel car to go to work.

Within 6 months I know how much I don safe here in the UK despite working part time oo because of the kids, If I wan build another house for Nigeria I can do it but I won't.

For you to know how terrible things are in Nigeria, if I tell my 5 years old daughter that we are going back to Nigeria. She will start begging me that daddy no oo am not going I like it here.

The rate at which people are selling their properties is so alarming, I don't think poverty is the cause but the japa syndrome at play.
The economy is sinking And people's standard of living is dropping by the Day. That is a poverty trend.
Years back, someone earning 200k a month could buy a new fridge, New Gen and still have enough to feed the family with that month's income. Now, that salary can't even buy an average Gen And feeding Will easily take More than half of that pay. We're humans, if there's anything we're good at, it's having the foresight to escape potential starvation.

have you forgotten that we are up 200 million? If 50 million people travel today, 150 million is still remaining.

And 50m were either born or imported from futa jalon the same day balancing up the 50m that just left and the total remains 200m or more. You never know this zoo
