I could have chosen Joseph Dosu(who is unsurprisingly not on the list) but aside the Olympics feat,he didn't do much for the Super eagles due to a horrible car accident in Nigeria that ultimately ended his football career!

First I accept Wilfred was in goal for our 1994 qualification due to rufai's injury. But then my best goal keeper for the eagle still remains rufai regardless of the statics you may quote. In rufai's era we have Wilfred, Ike shorumu, rufai himself, alloy agu. All these goal keepers are fantastic goal keepers and could hold their own on a good day. But in Vincent era who do we have, Vincent, Vincent and Vincent, hence his numbers of caps.

There was Austin Ejide and Abiodun Baruwa during Enyeama's time but Enyeama didn't have much competition because he was so good that no other keeper came close. The best any keeper could dream of was the reserve keeper. Anyways, if the other keepers were not up to scratch, it does not taint his legend.

Historically, Nigerians are very impatient with goalkeepers and we still see it today. Enyeama was that one keeper that no one complained about even when we lost a match. He was that reliable. I can't think of any goalkeeper that enjoyed that rare universal acceptance by Nigerians for a very long time other than Vincent Enyeama.

What about Wilfred Agbonibasket, David Ngodigha, Peter Fregene and Joe Erico.

You need to see him controlling the field and his contribution to the team cannot be undestimated. The only problem is that, thise set of players do not have the same opportunity as players of nowadays.

That opposition trounced Mali 4-1 in the semifinal and knocked out Senegal in the quarters. Mali had knocked out Egypt in the quarters and locked out the host Tunisia. Same Egypt we struggled with in group stage.

Enyeama started from Enyimba doing what Rufai could never do in Nigeria and CAF Champions League.

Moved to Israel continued excelling with Maccabi Haifa. Because of Enyeama Israel became an opportunity for some of our Super Eagles - Yakubu, Ejide & co. Enyeama did so well in UCL for that small club that Europe could no longer ignore him.

In France he blew. Domestically, he won titles and not as a bench player but important 1st team starter and even captain scoring goals too. Won so many awards there. I think he still holds the Ligue 1 record for either least goals conceded in a season or longest clean sheet streak. Can't remember which but it was with Lille around 2013.

Internationally he always did well even when we lost you could never blame him. In our worst losses he usually performed so well that you knew the scoreline would be worse if not for his saves. Ghana, Ivory Coast, Cameroon, Tunisia, Argentina, France matches come to mind.

And Enyeama played with very bad squads of mumu players like Sani Kaita, Olofinjana, Oboabona marshalling our defence. Constantly under pressure yet excelling.
