Bring the source of ijebu and the entirety of Lagos!

You think this is Benin bear parlour gist.

First bring the source of the towns found by the 62 settlement of lagos

The Benin had influence over the ijebu people. And hence the name ijebu was coined by the Benin who refrence them to Europeans who had inquired about them
source - samuel Johnson, the history of yorubas

The ijebu was constantly raided as sacrificial slaves by the benimswho were constantly captured for sacrifice to the Benins God's and would be slaughtered and beheaded and the rest of their bodies dumped in the river
- samuel joshson
History of yorubas

The Benins formed areas like lekki and other edo related names found in lagos till date

I thought as much.

The source are the kings in those town.

Abi the kings in those places claim the source provided by a Yoruba group is a lie.

FYI, Ijebu are the most stubborn Yoruba groups and were never vessel state to any other group throughout their existence.

Even Ibadan tried to no avail.

Even ipob cannibals can call somewhere backward.

Kano state alone can buy the whole of the SE states in Nigeria. SE cannibals are fund of counting fly-over bridges when they come to Kano for the first time because there are no such bridges in their primitive region..

The most prinitive part of Nigeria is the SE where cannibalism is still rampant. Many SE can't even stay in their region because of canibalism, UGM, IPOB, kidnaping, ritualism, ocultic, otokoto, ashawo, baby factory, etc

WOW I never knew it is so rich and can buy the whole Igbo Land ..... please can you tell us the reason why you still have Alimaijri roaming over your Kano with plastic bowls begging for food? I know you are one of those Alimajiri who make it to primary school. terrorist when did you come back from Sambisa forest? grin grin grin

So why are you struggling with facts and realities?
Why are Yoruba words, gods, goddess and identity so common among you all if una no migrate from them?
The relationship between Benin and Ife is well documented, as it was,no doctoring,no whitewashing. Nothing in Benin history glorifies ascendancy or superiority. It's the yorubas who want to use a revised history to make contemporary political statements.
Real and objective history should be the gold standard, not political one- up manship.

Obasanjo Wife almost sold all the lands on the Island to Abebes family before he Obj came back revoke many of Such given to the Likes of Ben Murray and his people it took the intervention of other Yoruba Leaders to warn such moves ....

When a dissertation is full of errors, most of them non- subtle, you simply label it as garbage and toss it back to the writer, to be discarded or rewritten.

Even the ijebus, aworis and ilajes find the compilation problematic.
Moreover there's no sign of any intellectual effort by the writer, just a display of vested political interests.

Olodo

It's Eti osa

Osa meaning Lagoon in Yoruba.

Eti meaning near or Ear in Yoruba

Eti osa is generic name given to the local government area when Lagos State was created. It means near Lagoon.

There's nothing precolonial era about Eti osa

That is your own opinion to defend your state. Etiosa is a popular name in Edo state or does Yoruba bear Osa?

Well documented by non- Benin chroniclers.
Separate politics from history, yorubas refuse to listen.
Anyway I partially blame Awolowo and the Action Group for this intoxication and obsession for power and dominance.

Don't know what is there to doubt the fact.
Each time I visit Lagos I could perceive the presence of my ancestors everywhere as an Edo man wey I be....

We own the whole of present day Lagos by extension.

That we didn't mind imposing our tradition and culture on Residents doesn't mean that we lost our heritage. We are just very cool people. Not like the Jihadists from Fulani extraction of North. We Edos are kindest people in the world 🌎 .

If they succeeded. They will claim the land.

The present Oyo was previously “Ago” headed by an Alago “Alago of Ago land.” But when the old Oyo was dispersed, an Oyo prince named “Atiba” came to seek refuge at Ago. Because he is the descendant of Alaafin, he was highly welcomed. “The Alaafin name is highly respected in the whole Yoruba land, and even though they suffered defeat, most Yoruba towns still pay respects to them. Even during the Ibadan wars, Alaafin send the Abogunrin to interfere, and they pay some respect to him (despite not having any military power over them.”

Due to this respect, Atiba requested that he be given a palace in Ago since he is originally a Prince and can’t live like a commoner. He promised to leave once old Oyo resettled. So he collected the Alago crown and started wearing it. (I think Ago had no Alago then, with the most recent one having gone on an expedition or dead in battle. So Atiba was given the crown). Moreover, Atiba married an Ago princess, which gave him easy access to the crown.”

However against his promise to return to Old Oyo once he can, he changed his mind and decided to settle in Ago instead. So he changed the name to “Agodoyo” literally translated to “Ago become Oyo. He gave the original land owners a chieftaincy title “Asipa” and made them a member of the “Oyomesi” or “Prime Ministers.”

That’s why Oyo have its panegyric as follows:

“…Oyo omo Alaafin
Ojo pa sekere mode omo atiba
O b’olowo wipe k’o gb’owo
O si n ba iwofa wipe k’o ju eru sile
Ase k’o le baa di’ja
Ko le baa di aapon
K’omo oba le ri je nibe
Oyo l’o gbin agbado oran
S’ehinkule elehinkule
Elehinkule ko gbodo yaa je
Beeni ko si gbodo tu u danu
Omo iku ti’ku ko le pa
Omo arun t’arun ko le gbe de
Omo ofo, t’ofo ko le se….”

Translation:

Oyo, descendant of the Alaafin
Rain must not beat the sekere
Child of Atiba
You urge the creditor to demand his pay
Yet you also urge the hireling debtor to repudiate his debt
So that conflict may ensue
For the benefit of the prince/princess
Oyo plants the ‘corn of trouble’
In another man’s backyard
That one must not harvest it
Neither must he weed it off
Child of death who cannot die
Child of pestilence who cannot be tied down by sickness
Child of calamity whom calamity cannot afflict….!

Note that Atiba is just one of the 11 princes in Oyo. A prince is a descendant of Oranyan. However, only Atiba family, his brother family, and one other family continue to contest for the Alaafin throne. The remaining princes focus on something else.

Thanks for this bro..
