To Power Minister: Let There Be Lights: From our observations, you seems to be a Silent achiever,at least from the pictures of the Agreement with the Siemens! But importantly, you need to move Faster,as Nigeria is behind Power/ Energy baseline- set by the World. In particular, the DISCOS,the Gemco are not doing enough but has brought Frustrations to Nigerians because they are the real problems in Improving Lights! This has led many Nigerian Youths- to Japa to other Countries- where the Lights are Constant,Infrastructures are available and Jobs are Stable! •Sir,the National Grid is a Fraudulent Entity- as some of us have been hearing this ' Nations Grid' since the Secondary School Days, and has not improved beyond 3-4000 mega, unless we are deceiving ourselves! •As a Minister, can you guarantee Nigerians- when we would have 24/7 Lights? 2• Are you aware that Fixing Power in Nigeria required you to be Mad - with this Imposedy- System ( from ECN- to NEPA- to Power Holding Company( PHCN) -DISCOS)-beyond what we are currently experiencing- lights Off and On,on daily and weekly basis? At least, there is no single- day - for over 15- yrs, that lights is not Off and On -on -daily basis and I challenged these DISCOS to tell Nigerians, otherwise- except, the diversion to their boss houses or Areas to themselves! That is wicked and evil! 3.Are you aware that - If this Power Issues is resolved ,then 50% of Nigeria Problems is done?.e g •we don't need Generators- Importations to Nigeria to Power Nigeria- Ghana and Benin-Republic have done away with that since! •Some Countries are staying permanently in the Space e g Americans, Chinese, now India have just gone to outer Space! - they can't do that without 24/7 Lights and 365- Days Constant Lights! So,when do you think Nigeria will achieve this feat? 4. Are you aware that Power-is the SOUL of a Nation's Industrialization,so when do you think- our Nigeria-Industrialization will come? 5.Have you solved the Homongous Corruption in these DISCOS,as they inherited the NEPA- and no improvement since, but knows how to Collect Money- without providing equivalent Services? What the present DISCOS are doing is - eyi je,eyi o je- like playing a loitery- with their Tramsfomers- as they refused to give New Transforers,No of Pre-paid Meters is limited to those that can pay extra- Money,Nigerians are still forced to pay Estimated Billings - despite the House Rules against this during Gbajabiamila House Speakership! 6.Can you as a Minister tell Nigerians - how many Average hours do these DISCOS give lights- both day and lights 7- Do you have the Numerical analysis of how many Transformers, including Dilapidated Assets Discos are having and how many Areas do their each Transformers covered- per the Population? 8 How many Foreign Experts- like this-Siemens,etc have you tried to bring- that can add large Numbers of Kw- grade to the Grid,to boost the lights? e.g General Electric of USA and why are these Organisations not being involved ? 9. Why can't States also generate their Lights- with Water Dams, Solar Energy Generation, etc? 10.How do you rate your performance at the end of your terms? NB- as we informed you No light in Ikorodu- most of our Fridges and Freezers are normal and yet to freeze because no adequate lights to power them, even street lights have no lights. •We hope to hear from you sir. •Seun Osewa-over to you to deliver to the Minister of Power- is our Nairaland Forum Contribution by a Concerned Member. |

Dollyak:Nothing is going to happen. The fundamental problem with Nigeria's power sector isn't equipment, which is easy enough to buy abroad, but the structure of the market itself. Power distributors (DISCOs) aren't allowed to charge enough to recover their costs, which means they can't afford to pay the generators (GENCOs) for the power they are given to distribute. The end result is that neither the GENCOs nor the DISCOs have the money to do even minimal levels of maintenance. As much as it may pain certain tribal warriors to hear, Fashola was right that the solution isn't rocket science. The problem is that the solution isn't what the masses want to hear - they need to pay what it costs to generate and distribute power, not what feels "fair" to them thanks to an inflated sense of entitlement stemming from the "oil boom" years of the 1970s when Gowon, Murtala and Obasanjo were dishing out "awuff" in the forms of subsidies of all kinds. Sadly, Tinubu has been so spooked by the backlash from his attempt to cancel the oil subsidy that he clearly lacks the guts to take any major steps in this direction (how could he, when he doesn't even have the courage to let the CBN fight inflation with higher interest rates). All we can expect for the next 4 years is lots more meaningless agreements like this one, while the fundamental issues are left unaddressed. 3 Likes 2 Shares |

omohayek: Are you for real or you are one of their beneficiaries or Workers or what are you postulating by saying ' allowing the organisation to charge what they deemed' - so even to supply Pre- paid Metres,na problems? - to get New Transformers,na problem! For over 15- yrs,Discos should show Nigerians - purchase of Equipments into Nigeria, for these are what they should have envisaged when they claimed to buy NEPA then! - the present DISCOS in Nigeria are Fraudulent Entities- forcing and Collecting ,Nigerians Money on , Monthly basis- without Providing Services! They do this through Estimated Billings - and accumulated bills for Nigerians, which they eventually load- into the Prepaid Meters whenever Nigerians gets one. • This is Stealing By Force( SBF). So, what you are advocating is that Nigerians should be paying for Services not rendered! Why did General Electric sidelines- when GEJ was creating the Establishment of DISCOS in Nigeria- so,where are the Experts Now in these DISCOS? Corruption has finished these DISCOS! |
