Of course but brain challenged imps were jumping up and down saying when Dangote comes on stream petrol would sell for ₦300 because Nigeria won't be importing fuel again with foreign exchange!
I won't even be surprised if it becomes more costly to buy a litre of Dangote fuel, than to import it.If you query it they would tell you that selling anything below current price the refinery would run at a loss and won't be able to pay it's debts. Also selling at anything below dollar based pricing would encourage smuggling across the borders.
That is the Nigerian way of things:contradictions and "upsidededness".

It is because Nigerians think that everything should be 'cheap'. They do not care about how much it costs the person selling product to them to bring that product for sale, or how much money the person making product needs to make to pay a decent wage, pay suppliers, and pay all sorts of things...they all want things to be cheap.

That is why APC won in 2015, in part because they promised fuel would be N40 per liter...forgetting to tell Nigerians that it would mean a massive increase in subsidy that would wreck our economy, and revenue base.

The truth is, nothing is cheap in this world. It costs money to run a refinery, money to pay workers good enough salaries, and money to pay taxman. There is no way that can be done, and petrol would be sold below N300.

Where is the strength of the youth??

Do you run a business? Why did you set up the business?

Did you set up the business to help the poor, or did you set it up to make money for yourself?

The only way you can pay for subsides is by having government increase our tax to gdp ratio massively, and even then it might not be enough.

Venezeula dey sell fuel at N40 per liter. Their refineries have all collapsed. Meanwhile, Niger has a refinery, they sell fuel at N1000 per liter, and their refinery not only works, it exports self.

Yes, it can be cheaper if the government intervenes by supplying crude oil at a discounted rate to refineries.

To President Tinubu:
A beautiful Suggestions,above!
•Kyari cannot be telling us this cock and bull story now- when he was amongst those that witnessed the very incompetence and Corrupt NNPC Management, just as a latecomers cannot pick a latecomers for punishment!
President Tinubu should tell us,if he cannot fight Corruption,as many Nigerians believe,he needs to shake up the NNPC,as presently constituted!
1- President Tinubu you need to do more on the Refineries- so as to lower the Prices for Nigerians, through Functional Refineries!
2- President Tinubu, you need to do more on the DISCOS/ Power- Energy,as there is NO CONSTANT LIGHTS In Nigeria.Discos are Seriously Sick. We have suggested that a quick one:
- there are Area that Light can be generated:
I .Provide Dam -on Badagry Ocean Waters.
ii-.Provide Dam -on Epe Sea& Ocean Waters .
iii-.Provide- Dam on Ikorodu Sea/ Ocean. We must think Outside the Box!
• The idea that the 40% Stake Govt - in DISCOS- should be given States-- can not solve this!
•How Many States is Capable and Viable to go along-to give 24/7- 365- Days - Constant Power/Constant Lights?
-As I'm writing- since 6.0 Pm,No lights everyday- the Whole Ikorodu is always placed in Darkness- as if the place is a Village-at Night- No light, No Street Lights! Then from 10 am in the Morning, there will be Light- till around 3- pm,then light will be Off till another day- OFF and On! .
•Is that what 24- hours light is? Is that what Japa-Nigerian Youths will be staying for- No light,No Jobs,No infrastructures facilities- Health Care Facilities- Roads, etc!
•DISCOS in Nigeria- are used to given Darkness to Nigerians and they can't Change,as they are yet to know that they are rendering Services!
•Those who drove away the Whites Experts during DISCOS Privitasation are the same Corrupt People, who said to have invested Money in buying it- during GEJ.
•Where is the General Electric, once driven away, from Nigeria because of Corruption!
••If you solve DISCOS/ Power Problems, then ,you have Solve halve of NIGERIANS Problems and troubles,so many people- elites, don't want it solved- no action but lips-Services!
•They need dismantling,if we are to bring in Industrialization! The present DISCOS can never give Nigeria Industrialization, unless there is Total Change and a New Orientations.
For now, only Discos-Bosses and their Workers ,are enjoying the Nigerian regular lights, because lights are Diverted to their houses and homes!
•Discos- should always remembered that ,at one time in Nigeria- there was NITEL o!,there was once a Nigeria Airways o- for this epileptic Power Supply, that Past Leaders have failed to find Solutions- will one day becomes history in Nigeria!
-Very despicable entity!
•- President Tinubu, you need to do more on the Economy, especially the Youths - as Nigerians don't have SAVINGS Again- due to High-Inflation on goods and Services, Couple with the Subsidies -Removal - and the fact that -the Masses have not received any Palliatives-from the Governors -to cussions this Structural imbalances!

I don't agree. Nigerians are happy to pay market price. The problem, especially with petrol is that they need it to survive. Imagine if electricity was 24/7, demand for petrol will dissipate. People are happy to pay for petrol for transportation. Fix the roads, provide the basics. The economies of scale would bring down the cost of local production, overall lowering the price we pay. But government is hell bent on taxing an unproductive population

ALREADY PLEADING FOR DANGOTE PRICING.

CEMENT PRICE IN NIGERIA SHOULD NOT BE MORE THAN IT IS SOLD IN GHANA OR ANYWHERE ELSE.
Different business environments, man. With the high inflationary pressures in Nigeria now, no businessman will leave money on the table and start losing money. And oh, please google search the retail price of 50KG bag of cement in Ghana and convert to naira before insulting Dangote. It's not cheap there either.

They won't do this cos they would be losing revenue.since govt has a 20% stake it could only bring down the price to between 450-500.

If they were, why was APC's N40 per liter of petrol so popular. And remember how people complained that GSM services cost a lot of money back in the 2001-4 period?

The problem, especially with petrol is that they need it to survive. Imagine if electricity was 24/7, demand for petrol will dissipate. People are happy to pay for petrol for transportation. 1.Electricity is bad because we do not pay the market price for power, and as a result DISCOS have to reject power from GENCOS because they do not have enough cash to pay them.

2.Roads are bad because government stopped tolls being paid on them, which meant funding went down drastically. Then railways were allowed to depreciate.

3.It does not matter what we think...the fact is, at the end, petroleum refineries have to be run at a profit to make more money.

We spent 10 trillion on subsides last year, and we were on track to spend more than that this year. The money would come from other parts of the budget which means that loans would have to be taken for the resultant deficit...more than we are taking right now.

Oga, if you were running a business, you won't sell below market price to help the poor.

"According to him, Nigeria does not have credible data for PMS consumption in the country because of the absence of the instrument to measure."

What has he and the management of the NNPC/DPR/Min. of Petroleum done to generate the needed data? This where we have missed it as a nation.

Meaning Dangote refined petrol products will be expensive.

Okay o!

Before nko

The deregulation of petroleum downstream sector and subsidy removal is to encourage private investors in the refining industry.

You cannot invest $19B and be selling petrol at N175/litre

Yeah, and that means lower profits for crude oil suppliers which may force them out if business

Or it means that government would end up spending more and more of the budget on paying for crude oil subsidy which would lead to huge budget deficits which would have to be plugged up by loans and more loans

Clowns.

As long as these clowns are allowed to use the profit of petrol to develop power plants and pipeline to their regions, they will keep taking free crude, attempt to refine the sell at profit. Idiots!
