BREAKING: High Court Confirms Ehie Edison As Authentic Speaker Of Rivers State Assembly.

... Stops Martin Amaewhule From Parading Himself As Speaker.

A High Court Sitting in Port Harcourt under the seal of Hon. Justice M.W. Danagogo has confirmed Rt. Hon. Edison Ehie, Esq. DSSRS, as the authentic Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly.

The court has also restrained Martin Amaewhule and Dumle Maol from Parading themselves nor interfering with the activities of Rt. Hon. Edison Ogerenye Ehie as Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly.

Rivers Mirror gathered that the court also warned against the use of Thugs and Police officers to forcefully gain access into the premises of Rivers State House of Assembly Complex.

The game just start getting interesting.

The governor should go and present his 2024 budget to the validly recognized Speaker and they give a speedy hearing and approve the budget so that the governor can still perform his constitutional duties while seizing the other 27 or 26 rebel lawmakers in the state.

In Summary,

1. Nobody should access the Rivers Assembly Complex until proper renovation is done by the Governor.

2. Nobody should use the Police to gain access to the building in whatever guise until the building is conducive enough for sittings.

3. Amaewhule & Dumle (Speaker & Dep-Speaker, let's say of Wike faction) should not interfere or disturb proceedings by Ehie Edison as he discharges his statutory legislative duties of summoning and holding meetings (functions of a Speaker), issuing notices, passing resolutions & bills.

4. If it is found that Ehie Edison has filed a frivolous suit, he will be made to pay N50m as damages.

5. The motion on notice alongside this judgement must be served by Ehie Edison-faction to the Amaewhule & Dumle at most tomorrow in persons or through substituted means.

6. Judgement adjourned until 21/12/2023.

PS: Ex-parte judgements ordinarily expire after 7 days unless re-applied for which will take another 7 days and no more extension whatsoever.

Please read the documents you uploaded, nowhere is it stated that he was confirmed speaker, they just got an order from a favourable court and judge to enable the governor pass the budget in the government house, moreover, you need 2/3rd to be speaker, you also need 2/3rd to remove a speaker, and finally you need 2/3rd to form a quorum

For now everyone respects the court's decision whether they are five or 300 is irrelevant until a superior court says otherwise.

What this means is that the Governor has bought sometime against his impeachment, any impeachment done now will be voided by the courts.

Not so true, go & read the law properly, when there is chaos in a party’s state structure with factions, elected party members are allowed to cross carpet, and it is quite clear in Rivers State that there is a problem.

This is very untrue.

Division in State structures cannot force defection.... Only division at the National level:

Read the Supreme Court judgement in Ifedayo Abegunde v Ondo House of Assembly.
