My ex, knowing fully well I can cook whenever I ask her to come and cook for me she will ask me to boil beans, buy all the ingredients parboil rice, blend pepper, slice onion and keep everything ready so whenever she comes she will just come and turn everything in the pot. I will now be wondering what's remaining for her again. Whenever I do all that I will just go ahead and finish up the cooking myself. Thank God she's now an ex.

That's a myopic reason. Some men used to be good cook before marriage. Pressure of career advancement and making money in order to take care of the family made them to forget the way to the kitchen. Getting a man that's a good cook has many advantages. When the wife is sick or overstressed or even out of town, the man can handle cooking without much stress. If your husband travels for a period and has to rely on other women to cook for him, your marriage may be threatened.

Except you would be cooking everyday and going grocery shopping. Think of what we would eat everyday as a family so that I can REST. If your cooking is reserved for when I am sick, I am afraid it is not a flex. I don't wait for you to be sick before I drive a car or go to work. Why must I be sick before you cook?
