The koko of it all. The belief that everyone should like everyone does not exist. I recall Tensa20 told me about a popular Facebook group for black folks in tech. Guess what? The African Americans don't share job invites with black Africans. But the group was created by an African (I think Nigerian. Tnesa20 has to confirm this).

The same African Americans from what I read on Twitter would do anything to prevent blacks Africans access to the US, but befriend other races, who don't even like black people at all, and don't care to differentiate blacks based on nationality or ancestry. I think you should delve into the cause of that animosity. I saw it in University. And there was a good argument that Black slave descendants felt that Immigrants were taking up a lot of the opportunities put in place for slave descendants to correct for racism. In my school a sizeable percentage of minorities in my class were 1st generation immigrants. And, I do think, immigrants tend to be a self selected group.

I will share a bit of what i have discovered in my short stay here in Canada. Whites are very accepting of you as a black provided you stay within certain defined limits that exists in their subconscious minds. They are very ok with you working as a clerk, an entry-level officer in a bank or in a government agency or working as a support or care giver. They start rolling their eyes when you start breaking borders and moving into more traditional, professional roles which they consider their enclaves e.g being a lawyer or getting into management. You need to wear a thick skin at that level.

With black medical doctors and nurses though, they really don't have a choice. Same goes with IT. There's a shortage of professionals in those fields. I call them the "colour blind" professions.

With time, determination, a positive outlook, and having the right qualifications and skills, I find it's easier to break through those racial barriers than the nepotism and tribalism that exist in Nigeria.

I respect them. I really do. They, especially the men, have been able to build a functioning society for themselves based on their cultural characteristics and norms. I applaud their tenacity, rule-based system and how the society functions. The women, especially young women, are facially beautiful.
