The process of attracting research grant follows the following order.

1. Search for several research finding agencies relevant to your research area.

2. Study the requirements of such donor agencies which includes your qualifications, your CV and resumes of other associates/co-investigator(s),

3. Plan your proposal - Abstract, Introduction, Problem Statement, Objectives, Scope of Study, Significance/Relevance of Study, Potential Beneficiaries and Contributions to Knowledge, Literature Review, Conceptual Framework, Methodology: Materials, methods, equipment, Instruments.

4. Provide the work plan with timelines (the use of progress plan using bar charts or Microsoft Project may be useful). Make sure the work plan captures the components of the methodology.

5. Provide the budget to cover preliminary, travels, field and lab studies, materials, equipment, personnel, etc with the number, unit cost and total cost. This should also cover dissemination of research findings in journal articles publication, international conferences (registration, travels, hotel accomodations, etc).

Your ability to present everything in ab appealing and convincing manner.

Am sure you lack understanding, majority of them don't even depend on their salaries except those that don't want to use their heads. You should know that majority of workers in Nigeria are less paid, it is not lecturing job alone, some private school teachers that have such qualifications like those in lecturing field are even praying to get such job while those in the field are complaining. Again, I never said that they are been paid well but when compared with their fellow in private schools with such qualifications, theirs are till better. Remember that as their level rises, the salary continue to rise unlike those in private sector where salary can be stagnant for years without increment, the best you can do is to leave if you are not satisfied with the pay.

It beats me how there are Nigerians like you. Despite being oppressed and underpaid, you still take the side of your oppressors unconsciously. Is it that you just love to talk?
Your input about them having allowances is not your place to give. Let the bourgeoisies argue that. You just keep quiet.

And like I said it's all because you're not class conscious.
Your comment is so anti-revolutionary to a topic that could beget questions about salary increment for the proletariat but you just have to give your own ignorant opinions.

All this your grammar won't solve anything, don't just sit with your phone and start attacking people as if you have any solution to the problem. It is people like you that came out to condemn ASUU in the last strike they embarked on for dragging the strike too long. The solution to this is if ASUU will embark on indefinite strike without giving room to any pressure from the parents and government and the slogan should be sack one, sack all, until their demands are met....
I hate it when people comes out to complain on issues that has a solution, you take action and fight your oppressors, you can't be complaining about low wage and yet you are not taking the right action. I am the last person that will work in a place and start complaining about low wage. it is either I leave or I start the revolution by talking sense to my colleagues, I did it twice in my place of work. You don't come to social media like this to start complaining as if there is no solution forgetting that those you are complaining to some are even undergoing something worst than your own case.

I was right, you just love to talk. You talk sotey you start to assume I did things.

Take a line out of your own script. Since you said you've done it twice, imagine as you're almost stressed to death about your salary and as you're talking revolution to your workers, one of them goes "but they're paying us allowance" and your oga hears it... all your work will be futile, wouldn't it? That's exactly what you did on this thread unconsciously.

Just reminding you to be class conscious, your voice is not necessary.

Whether you like it or not, the fact still remains that complaining about a situation you can change show how weak you are. Action is what is needed not complaining on social media . Again, when I was in such situations, I didn't come to social media to complain rather I and my colleagues took the right steps. The social media is not a place where you start such revolution.

Is it the fact that many lecturers engage in other business or the fact that they get grants or the fact that some of them are into consultancy? Or that some go for INEC job or sometimes work as facilitators? What do you really want me to explain?

Earned academic allowance negotiation has been considered a fraud based agreement that disfavors the paying party. There were no specific formulas for determining how much each deserving Lecturers should collect. This creates a lot of bureaucracies which have led to unwillingness and delay in the payment of the allowance. Even though it was ASUU that birth it, its payment ought to be done without involving any unions to all deserving Lecturers in all universities.
An estimated figure should be arrived at for each academic cadre as presumed earned academic allowance. Responsibility allowance should be ceded to the governing council of each university.
