Good work guys

Hurray, my guineas are in business grin. This morning was quite eventful thanks to Kojo & Sylvester. They helped convinced my iyawo further why I shouldn't dispose them off despite their noise (my people, the noise no be at all ooooo).

We woke up this morning being the 1st day of the month & also the 1st Sunday as well. It is always the same routine, the noise from kojo & Sylvester filled the whole room; buck-wheat, buck-wheat, buckwheat. . . Oh my God, iyawo screamed. I can't take this anymore Oga Ice-cube (my cat's name). Please go and make them shuuuuuu. Stepping into their confinement, I noticed the noise continued but this time, they were sounding the alarm looking in one direction.
Wetin dey make dis ones dey look DAT corner? I said to myself. On investigation, I saw a small snake trying to make its way out through a small opening.
Wow! It's a snake oooo. I yawo come and see snake ooooo. I screamed. I will catch & keep it.
Guys, if only I could type out the reaction I got from my iyawo ehn...hahahahahaha

Well, to cut the long story short, I tried catching it alive but Kojo ran towards it and pecked it twice as I was trying to guide it into a container which I did eventually. Nonetheless, it died some hours later.
This was fun to read. I had a good laugh grin grin grin

The Unfortunate End!!!

(In loving memory of Kojo & Sylvester)

Compliments of the seasons to all. 2020 sure does have lots of beautiful memories and unforgettable events. My Guinea fowl project was a success despite losing some to drowning & culling one off due to deformity. Iyawo loved them to a fault, sometimes, I imagined myself being a Guinea fowl so I could get loved just that much too grin.

Well, every good thing must have an end. I know I got the guineas for a particular purpose but, man proposes but God... It started with a man coming over and hearing their noise. He said, wow! You've got awo (guinea fowl)? I replied, Yes.
Are you selling? He asked. Jokingly I said yes, N4k. Before I could say jack... Na so the man comot N8k oooo. Na so I change mouth sharp sharp say na one I wan sell. While i returned the 4k, I was peeping and the window to see if my wife was looking and at the same time planning to come up with an award winning super story so as to pacify her. wink
Well, my people, na so Kojo take waka oooo. N4k in pocket and a well cooked up story which helped me enjoyed spending the money in peace with wifey. grin

Oh Sylvester my Sylvester!!!

He became so restless and kept running around in his confinement. Iyawo, wouldn't stop telling me to go buy another one so they would be two at least. As a sharp guy grin, I asked iyawo if she had ever eaten smoked guinea fowl before? Walahi, if you chop am ehn, na the only meat we go dey chop for this house henceforth, I said to her. She just looked at me like, wetin this man dey talk kwa? cry. If you killed Sylvester, you are the most wicked person on earth. Haaaaaa!!! On top guinea fowl? Say wetin happen? undecided
(That was how guinea fowl was putting my marriage to a test ooooo. Devil is a lair). After much persuasion and putting it to a vote as usual with all stakeholders of the house, Sylvester was condemned to death. grin
Like I said, the meat sweet die. Iyawo distant herself from the preparations while she attended to her slaughtered kuroiler chickens waiting to be grilled, only for her to come take the lion share when it was deep fried. My minions (kids) loved every bit of it.

(Attached is the deep fried Sylvester guinea meat)

That brings us to the end of this thread.

Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year in advance.

For a while now, I have been thinking of the right pets to get after the demise of Stella, Rubbie & Jumia my cats. After much deliberation, I decided pending the time I get another cat (I have come to the realisation that I can't do without at least two cats in the house), let me get myself Guinea fowl keets as pets. Luckily for me, scouting for them wasn't much of a problem. 4 keets where bought and quickly settled into their new home.

Immediately I set my eyes on them, I loved them straightaway. Wifey also fell in love with them and I gave her the honour of naming them, and named them she did; Kara, Sylvester, Rodrigo and Kojo. (Only God knows where those names came from undecided )

Quick Facts about Guinea fowls
Guinea fowl are hardy and low maintenance.

They also make excellent "watchdogs," sounding the alarm when unknown visitors approach.

Guinea fowl are free from diseases that plague other poultry.

They even cut down on the need for pesticides, as they rid their area of bugs and other pests, and have a particular fondness for the deer tick that spreads Lyme disease.

Best of all, they will help rid my garden off insects and unwanted pests.

My name as guinea fowl name?

Next time hatch the keets and raise them among chickens that’s how you control the noise
