No, you're wrong.

It depends on the school, management and the teacher in question.

In 1996, I attended Sango Sec school, Agege Lagos State.
The math teacher was a stupid Olodo and he made our lives useless- It's everyday-Flogging.
I kukuma skip his class to avoid being Flogged by the teacher.

My parent later took me to SPED Int,l Sec School, Oyo state, that was where i experienced real Education.
The teachers don't Flog, they were so exceptional in teaching pupils with love and everything became clear and so simple.
I come dey Chop mathematics like Beske, Physics, Chemistry, Further math became chin-chin for me.

Finally finished SS3 in 2002 at the Iconic-School "Igbobi College" Yaba Lagos.

My WASSCE result became a solid foundation for many other Certs.
I'm now working with Dangote group.

The credits belongs to SPED intl School management, Oyo state.
For- reshaping and refocusing my life with Love.

My dad was a Special Ed, Lecturer tho, he never Flog me when i performed woefully at Sango Sec School.
He knew all I needed was a better School and The OYO state F.C.E Staff School was it.
I’m not wrong. We are saying the same thing. A good teacher’s aim isn’t to flog you but to make you understand. Once you understand no maths problem in that textbook is difficult. Na so person go Dey chop am like beske(if I could borrow your words)

Imagine, using waec as a yardstick.

I ll give you an example, As far back as jss 3, a student was taught change of subject of formula in mathematics. That's lack of basics. You can't build something on nothing

Now in SS3 physics exam, he couldn't find the resistance of a circuit from a given data of current and voltage.

Waec is use to test your knowledge on subject matter over the years, not in a particular class.

Omoooo. If waec is not a yardstick then what is? Or u failed waec after all the bursting that u are smart?
Which kind thing be this... if students can't pass exams then why do u teach them? Which kind talk be this one again. E just weak me.. I can't talk again.

Waec isn't an exam you prepared for in a year. The preparation starts right from the beginning of ss class. You can't waste two yrs and suddenly think you can turn things around over night. It doesn't work like that

Ok ooo. You want the teacher to solve about ten to twenty questions related to the exercises given to you to solve in the textbooks. Haa baa... It is not easy for WE mathematics teachers like that.

This is to enable the students to think outside the box.... This would help them in solving real life situations .

Do you know how Russian textbooks in engineering and physics are? Hardcore! Thank God for Indian textbooks. so analytical, so detailed....like B.L and A.K Theraja. If you have a problem with that, it means PhD go hard for you be that.

As a physics teacher I don't stress these teens of nowadays like I experienced in my sec sch days.

Why are u saying PhD go hard for me like I said anything has been hard for me before? I never said I don't understand. I said it's not fair to students because it doesn't make them smarter. You can't teach students how to add A n N and in exercise you are asking them to add matrix A and Matrix B. It's not knowledge u are passing, you are only confusing and discouraging them from the subject.

How many Nigerian students cam successfully pass mathematics and physics gsce exams without help?
How many Russians do pass thier exams?

Russian method is working for them because they are doing it well and the students do understand. That's why are smarter, because they are thought well.

It's just like saying petrol sells for 2000 per litre in UK so Nigerians must pay 2000 per litre too. What are the conditions? Under the same conditions can Nigerians pay? Is it fair?
That's why indians are smarter than us. When they discovered that method was not working they developed their own method and they now understand. Are indians not doing well in engineering and medicine now? Will it be wise if they stuck to the old ways because British and Russian textbooks are that way? It's called educational innovation. You should know what works for you under your condition.

Students cannot be failing anyhow and you are talking about Russian textbooks. How will the failures bring development? Is it not when they understand that they can use the knowledge for development?

I am a web and graphic designer. It took me over 10 years to earn what used to be my annual income into my monthly cash out.

Ps. The money is not steady... There are days when I would be flat broke but God still comes through

. thanks for your response. I am also undergoing training in becoming front-end developer. I am done with HTML and was about learning css when my laptop has issue. I have been too broke to cough our 8k to get it repaired close to 2 months now. Hope the front-end programming is hotcake as well and would bring bread to my table?

shocked

hahaha,
I complained about this some months ago when my daughter came home with their school's question papers

the examples and teachings in the classroom were like:

1 + 3 – 4 = 0

3 + 9 × 2 = 21

But what I saw on the question paper:

if 2a = 54, and 3b = 45,
what is the value of (a – b)

I was like, how on earth did they expect these kids to solve the question.

Even me no fit solve am
Re: Why Do Teachers And Textbook Writers Do This This? by DamnnNiggarr: 7:15am On Dec 25, 2023
Uptheante:

But this assignment is very simple naw.
First get the values of a & b then subtract to get your answer.

2a = 54 is solved by dividing both sides by a in order to get the value of a.
2a/2 = 54/2
a = 27.
Also, 3b = 45 is solved by dividing both sides by 3 to get the value of b.
ie. 3b/3 = 45/3
b = 15

Since a = 27 and b = 15, this implies that (a - b) = (27 - 15) = 12
Therefore, the final answer is 12
So you expect a primary 2 pupil to solve the question perfectly as you did, in the exam hall??

For the fact that you feel there's a certain way people must behave means you are the dumbest person I've ever met. Even programed systems do have unexpected behaviours. You are just dumb. Period
