Politicians smiling to the bank.

Igbo Yorubas marrying every Saturday.

Igbo Yorubas breaking barriers together in business , entertainment, sports etc..

But dumb social media clowns keep being pawns in politicians hand through tribalism and religion.

O citizen, when will they sense come?

No Yoruba person will ever say Igbos are dividing us alone religious line. It's the Igbos who do not understand that this is nearly impossible due to how intertwined we are. Our parents are both Muslim and Christian, our friends are of opposite religions and our homes are mixed.

This relationship is to the last unit of the society which is the family so a Yoruba person is likely to laugh such comment off as an act of ignorance than take offence at it.

The icing on the cake is that members of both religions could also traditionalists.
That's one of the stupidity of the last election. Ibos were throwing the Yoruba Muslim slogan everywhere.
I was like okay, maybe I should disown my muslim cousins, neices and nephews 😂

On Twitter, it is multiple fronts.

—Yoruba vs Igbo

—Hausa/Fulani vs Middlebelt Christians

The other tribes then switch loyalty to join the fight of the above two and sometimes they are just neutral.

I don’t think the fight will ever end until end of Tinubu tenure. People don’t even care about governance again, any simple thing na full blow Twitter war.

You have captured it succinctly but I think the war will not end after Tinubu's government because it didn't start with it. It may subside but not end.

If you have issues with FG and Nigeria, leave Yoruba out of it, or else.. it's going to be hell of war

On the contrary, you see what you want. Unlike on Nairaland where Nigerian politics overshadowed everything, Twitter is a mixbag of everyone and everything across the globe. With a combination of Follows/Unfollows/Blocks and Muting some words from your Timeline, you can have one devoid of that nonsense.

It's a hard ask to expect this from Nairaland at this stage so.. 🌚

seunmsg:

The Nairaland break is not responsible for the battle of the tribes currently ongoing on Twitter. The battle is as a result of the continued attacks on Yoruba people by Peter Obi supporters made up mostly Igbo people. Obidients have refused to accept defeat and move on as expected of reasonable people. They have turned their frustration on Yoruba people who won’t take shiit from anybody not to talk of Igbo people.

Even Rufai of Arise was codedly begging and trying to blame the politicians. When the Obidients were toxic all over Twitter, he did not caution them. Now the chickens have come home to roost.
yea, it's always the igbos, obidients, ipob starting or instigating the fight.
Just go through the comments, the inferiority complex ravaged region of south west are even trying to get the northern support. Just like cowards they are, one even said that they can't keep quiet like northerners for 8 years. It's always igbos starting it, bunch of hypocrites. But in reality, nobody in Nigeria is more tribalistic than the Yorubas yet they must always blame others for this or that especially igbos.

Who has noticed the unprecedented level of combative tribalism that has taken over our timeline?

It seems the short break on Nairaland led to the exodus of the tribal elements to Twitter. The kind of banters and ethnic bashing is unbelieve.

What a mess.

I always laugh when people open threads on nairaland to complain about tribalism.... Nairaland dey play where twitter and Facebook dey....
What made twitter (X) worse of recent is Elon who gave the impression that he won't be gagging free speech and the monetization..... People just started saying whatever they liked .... He had to travel to Israel to appease the Jews for all the anti semitic rants he allow on Twitter

It is nothing new.

Twitter is the headquarter of ethnic clashes and bigotry. I get away with many things on twitter, half which I get banned here.

But those hateful bitter souls were celebrating when nairaland was down and we know the only reason they were cursing Seun is because he is Yoruba. Shameless disgusting hateful losers

Y'll are the embodiment of inferiority complex. Wetin concern Yoruba with The North. You guys always think the Northerners are stupid. Same mistake your Azikiwe made in the 1950s thinking he could control the abokis. You think they did not know that it was the ibos that were constantly insulting them for 8 years LMAO.

There is a video on YouTube and Facebook where an Ibo pastor made a statement that 1 Ibo man equals 500 Hausa men. He called Buhari a brain dead cow. Your kith and Kin cheered and clapped. Even Obi spent a cross over night at the same pastor's church to honour the bigoted pastor .

If anything similar to what happened in Rwanda happens in Nigeria, the people far away from home will be the most affected. It will be another repeat of the 1966. Those that fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it
