Good projects like these are what we need.
They'll put food in the poor man's stomach

Health is wealth, without it, you cannot work to put food on the table.

.... besides, many Nigerians put food on the table during construction , from vendors to bricklayers, electricians, painters, medical supply companies, architects, structural engineers and so on ns many Nigerians will continue to put food on the table as employees working in these facilities from cleaners, doctors, nurses, technicians,, custodians and so on.

How you look at these job creation facilities and still missed the fact that Nigerians are putting food on the table as workers and managers of these facilities.

The general hospital alone employ hundreds or thousands of people.

Sometimes I just wonder how you people think.

Gbajabiamila inaugurates four projects across Lagos

Chief of Staff to the president, Femi Gbajabiamila, has urged Nigerians to be patient, saying governmentā€™s ability to perform takes experience, pedigree and time.

He also admonished those seeking public office to ā€˜remember that the ultimate and highest legacy we can leave as public servants is in the evident improvements to the lives of the people we serveā€™.

ā€œI must also urge citizens to remember that the ability to get things done in government requires experience and pedigree, takes time and demands that we manage expectations accordingly,ā€ he added.

Gbajabiamila spoke on Tuesday, January 2, in Lagos while inaugurating projects he facilitated in his Surulere Federal Constituency during his tenure as Speaker of the House of Representatives.

The projects were commissioned alongside Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and they include a state-of-the-art conference centre at the Lagos State University (LASU), Ojo, an ultramodern, multi-floor 80-bed General Hospital, the dualised Babs Animashaun Road and Census Bridge, and the Sam Shonibare Community Development Centre, all in Surulere.

Gbajabiamila, who traced his political trajectory in the last 20 years at the House of Representatives, said it was an honour to serve.

He thanked Governor Sanwo-Olu, ā€˜for his support and collaboration through the years because without partnership with the state government, it would have been more difficult to achieve our visions for the projectsā€™.

Gbajabiamila added: ā€œI am proud that we have constructed over 250 roads in selected federal constituencies in the state, especially Surulere I and II constituencies, and completed 15 mini stadia. We facilitated heavy investment in education and healthcare, including constructing and equipping over 20 ICT centers in public schools where children are taught computer programming and coding. We have provided solar energy systems to light up neighbourhoods and support commercial trades in our constituencies.ā€

The General Hospital was upgraded from a primary healthcare centre and now boasts of advanced and specialist care facilities, a 500kva generator, a 100kva solar power supply on the roof, an Intensive Care Unit (ICU), a borehole, water filtration system and a dialysis centre on the second floor. It also boasts of radiology, a large laboratory, paediatric, physiotherapy, surgical, and X-ray facilities.

The Chief of Staff said the projects were inspired by a sense of duty and part of his efforts to meet the peopleā€™s expectations.

Sanwo-Olu, who thanked Gbajabiamila for partnering the state government, said such fruitful collaborations were part of the administrationā€™s efforts to further its THEMES agenda.

He noted that the facility is now world-class, and would be managed by the Ministry of Health.

The governor added that to strengthen the stateā€™s medical infrastructure, and counter the mass exodus of doctors and other medical personnel, the government will, this year, build a medical university targetted at graduating 1,500 doctors yearly.

Sanwo-Olu said the institution will be built in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Health and the National Universities Commission (NUC).

He explained that the facility is needed following advice from the Federal authorities that the state needs to scale up the number of medical personnel it produces in the light of the shortage of medical health practitioners due to the japa syndrome.

Sanwo-Olu said: ā€œLagos State will be establishing, in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Health and the National Universities Commission (NUC), a medical university before the end of this year. This is a strategic intervention, moment for us.

ā€œWe cannot fold our arms like a government that cannot intervene, and so we will, as a state that is leading the pack and we hope that other states will take the initiative and set up this university to scale up our medical graduates to about 1,500 yearly. It will also stem, in our view, the risk of our medical personnel leaving our country. We are not going to stop at ensuring that we provide the best facilities to be able to retain our best hands.ā€

Thre is no ethnicity known as Nigerian because Nigeria is a nation and not an ethnic group meaning all who are from that nation are citizens of Nigeria. Totally different concepts to what you propose.,

Angolans are the citizens and people of the Country called Angola, whatever their respective ethnic groups. Ditto Americans, Britons, Ghanaians and Kenyans.

How you can say smugly "so in reality there is nothing like Nigeria" is amazing and suggest you are a person in his own world and dancing to his own tune alone even if such is completely unmelodious.

A nation is a large body of people united by same history, culture, or language, inhabiting a particular country or territory.

Nigeria is not a nation because it has multiple languages, culture e.t.c

What you call "ethnic group" is actually a nation and meant to be called ETHNIC NATION.

Don't let mis-education and colonial mentality affect your reasoning.

Honestly, it sounds like a mental health issue. Imagine anyone writing what is shown below because their worldview revolves around an ethnocentric outlook alone:

"There is no ethnicity known as Nigerian, so in reality there is nothing like Nigeria."

Let's put his lunatic announcement into practice. If ethnic groups are the only legitimate basis for validation of national existence then how many nations will Nigeria split into considering Nigeria has over 400?

Applying this lunatic pontificating to the world at large, how many nations will the world host? 100,000 or more?

I personally think Nigeria has many problems because those tasked with delivering solutions for her, I.e Nigerians, have many bigger problems personally.

Rubbish. Mis-education and colonial mentality indeed. You are just a confused individual positing himself to be an 'alternative thinker' without understanding your thoughts are muddled, senseless and at odds with reality.

People like you who attempt to misinterpret empirical truth, to support your agenda or viewpoint, are dangerous.

You googled Nation (see result below) and regurgitated verbatim the first definition that suits your ethno-chauvinistic view of human correlation and existence whereas the second definition is much better and one that most human beings of the world can attest to as reflecting their reality today because it posits a nation is:

an aggregation of people or peoples of one or more cultures, races, etc, organized into a single state
.

We'd have to travel back to 1760 to validate your impression of what a nation is because it certainly is nothing like what most of us know a nation to be today from actual experience living within most nation of the world across all continents of the world.

Of course some can claim Mike Tyson is white but it is left to the grounded, non-brainwashed and non-confused individual to conclude his race while others, like you, can remain discussing a non-issue.

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and Gbajabiamila deserves some accolades for a job well done.

Are they using their money to do it ?

I beg leave story. If we continue praising people like it will look as if they are doing us favour.
There is nothing like accountability of the political class and that is why when one politician does something like this we praise them to high heavens as if they have done something spectacular.
Look at the way medical professionals are leaving the country in droves yet these elites are doing nothing about it.

Lol. Okay. Pele Mr.Freedom fighter and champion against subjugation and ethnic cleansing.

I gree with you that Nigeria does not exist. It is not a nation. You know best and your sole views about nationhood are accepted as universally and empirically correct above what billions believe and have enshrined into law, constitution and functional governance identity.

I abhor Fulani herdsmen terrorism, based loosely on a violence-driven land-grab and expansionist agenda, as passionately as any progressive and fair-minded Nigerian does.

Unlike you though, I won't start confusing myself to the extent of looking in Sokoto for what is in Sokoto trouser.

Rather than try to re-invent the wheel as square and not circular, because such makes you feel better about your impotent frustration, why not understand it is leadership ineptitude and cowardice responsible for the proliferation of terror in Nigeria today?

Pedantically trying to use nuanced rhetoric to define nationhood will not stop Fulani terror or killing. Regional policing will stop Fulani terror and killings. Regional autonomy, that means regions of Nigeria can host the equivalent of London Metropolitan police forces rather than Hisbah or Amotekun that Nigeria parades, will stop Fulani terrorists blackmail of Nigeria.

That is what Nigerians should be fighting the Government to hand to us, as we did over #EndSARS, rather than using nebulous interpretation of concept to feel good about our own impotence.

If I even agree Nigeria is not a nation as you claim, and I accept your definition of nationhood, tell me how that stop terror when those who can fight it will still not be empowered to do so effectively and optimally under our unitary 'one Nigeria' system.

Over-intellectualisation of what is simple is what Nigerians are guilty of because we are cowards who prefer to remain that way, in suffering and horror, rather than fight for leaders to give us solutions.

Using an example I hope your 'Thomas Sankara' brain can work with, would the recent massacre in Plateau happen if the middle belt had her own regional police force with specialist anti-terror units that can work as microcosm of Mossad, MI5, FBI, CIA and others specifically tasked with using information gathering, technology and force, when necessary, to keep their people and geographical space safe?

You Nigerians are just not ready. Keep touting nebulous gibberish rather than face facts and reality per where we are all heading if we do not stand up to fight for ourselves and begin making valid demands of Government.
