Yet, we have a tourism sector swallowing Billions every year. tongue

Look at what has become of Tinapa Resort and Obudu cattle ranch... What about Ogba Zoo??! Shall we talk about the game reserves in the North??!

The ones still functioning well, going there without good security is not advisable in Nigeria today.

After more than 15 years since I visited a beach (Eleko beach), I anticipated seeing and having the usual beach feel of
strong roaring foamy waves,
very cold winds that can sweep you off your feet,
the wide expanse of water so wide and so blue that connects to the sky as far back as your eyes can see,
hundreds of sea creatures especially crabs running back into the sea as it recedes,
the freedom of trekking kilometers down both sides of the sea,
the non-existence of any foreign thing like tractors, restaurant etc close to the sea... Just the traditional dishes and feel.

Everything is so bad that I just felt I wasted money on overrated stuffs.

No roaring waves,
no cold winds,
swimming pool-like water waves and forced waves from the jet skis and boat l cruise.
Green colored sea filled with sea weed
Cans, bottle, food pack littering everywhere
Guys with intimidating looks smoking up and down
Loudspeakers playing useless music and disturbing the peace of the sea,
Almost non-existent sea shells. Except for few tiny ones
Tractors everywhere with security guard threatening you if you dare to cross over to landmark side
Sand heaped on all four sides of the sea making it look like a swimming pool. Imagine a whole beach o

Everything has been monitized and the beach is so small that it's choking.

You can only have fun by buying overpriced things. Boat cruise at 3k, horse riding for just a short distance at 2k per person, one tiny suya at 2k, entry fẹẹ increased to 2k as well.

If not for the other families that came with football which we started playing, what would my holiday look like?

It is well. I just think not everything should be monitized and milked so it loses its natural feel.

Felt so bad for nature. The beach's sadness penetrated through my bones cry cry cry cry cry cry

Has anyone experienced this? Any idea of a good beach that is still an actual beach?
Wasiu my Muslim brother, may water no carry you dis year, inshallah

Who goes to a beach in 2024??

A person with a social life who isn't addicted to the make-believe of social media and understands the importance of physical interactions. Plus you likely live in the hinterlands with no access to the beach so you've learnt to love only piss-drenched pools as a replacement.

I’ve never been to a beach before. Who will take me? I’ll get to wear that beautiful bikini I bought and have not had the chance to use.

Wear your bikini inside your bathroom and bath with it with peace of mind. Nothing much.

It so shameful seriously. I went to Oniru beach too recently and what I saw was nothing less of an eye sore. The beach looked so distant from it's former self.
It is as if LAWMA found a new dump site for all kind of wastes and aquatic life are inexistent.
People even urinate close to the bamboo wall and everywhere reeks of an abandoned dumpster.
The only serene beach with little closeness to still maintaining it's natural feel are the private beaches as I was in Lekki Leisure Lake a week earlier.

Get out of Lagos to beaches in Ogun, Ondo, and south south states.

Despite the huge revenue (IGR and federal allocation) plus loans, why have Tinubu and his puppet successors failed to make the LGAs create and maintain clean and proper beaches for the PUBLIC? Anyway if they can’t provide ordinary water supply to every building, beaches are an impossible impossibility.

Does anyone need further evidence that Lagos is an overrated, overhyped and overpriced ghetto

Lagos, the commercial hub of Nigeria, has been ranking as one of the worst places to live in the world for the nine straight years, a BusinessDay analysis shows.

Data from the 2019 Global Liveability Index published by the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU), the world’s leader in global business intelligence, shows the city has been within the range of 137th-139th position out of a total of 140 cities in the world from year 2011-2019.

As a tour operator/tour guide who often has to take tourists and vacationers to beaches and resorts, I can empathize with you. The monetisation of beaches, especially in Lagos is making them less appealing by the day

There are still relatively sane beaches in Badagry, and some parts of Lekki/Ibeju.

A few weeks ago, I decided to go to Benin Republic and experience at least one beach there. I was at Fidjrosse Beach in Cotonou and the experience beats Lagos hands down, in my opinion. Beach was clean; large stretches of sand as far as the eyes can see. Less litter and clean environment. And yes, entry was free.
The only challenge is that the CFA is now higher than the Naira in value. So, it's more expensive traveling there.

It's only in Nigeria, people pay to access beaches.... Very abnormal country . Come to Gold coast(Surfers paradise), Miami of Australia and see heaven on earth beaches
exactly my thought. The only country that collect gate fee for entrance.. Very senseless people. All beaches in SA is free entrance..experience nature with ease.. Na wa 4 9ja sha.

Blame the Eko Atlantic project for the lack of strong foamy waves at Oniru Beach, but Atican Beach in Lekki still have that natural beach waves, you just have to go further out from Victoria Island.

If you are willing to come to Badagry or go to Cotonou, let's plan a group trip. You will definitely enjoy it. Terms and conditions apply.

Area boys full everywhere collecting illegal monies, I believe entry into the beaches should be regulated, free and well managed. You can be charged for things you buy,
I believe the Lagos state government is complicit as they cannot pretend not to be aware of these areaboys' existence all over the Lagos beaches. undecided undecided undecided undecided undecided
