The post above you just provided this information.

That agent is not genuine & you should stop paying them immediately and go through the process yourself. It is straightforward and tons of scenarios have been shared on this thread by different applicants.

All you need to do is go through the thread & ask specific questions where you need further guidance.

Ajalalomo:

An applicant's passport and biometrics must both be valid for 10 years in order to receive the 10-year visa, and note that IRCC can only issue visas up to the date the applicant's biometrics expire.

For instance, if an applicant's passport is valid for ten years and the biometric is valid for six months, then the applicant will only be granted a visa for a maximum of 6 months, not a visa good for 10 years.

The applicant's biometrics expiration date takes precedence over the passport expiration date.

What you are referring to is the CAN+ programme that offers expedited processing for those who have previously travelled to Canada in the last 10 years or who hold a valid US visa at the time of their Canadian visa application.

If they hold valid US visas, they might benefit from this.

Of course, do note that there have been instances reported on this thread & other forums where processing for CAN+ eligible applicants took as long as processing for those that didn't meet its eligibility criteria.

Good afternoon everyone,

I did a visiting visa application for my Parent on Dec 19th, 2023. Biometrics letter came the same day, they did their biometrics on the 2nd of January and it was updated Jan 3rd on the portal.

I heard there's a trend that if the applicants have a US visa either valid or expired, the application get processed faster? I want to confirm this pls.

thank you

Probably one of the most repeated questions here since the pandemic.

Canada announced during the pandemic that visitors could apply for work permits inside Canada and this policy expires in Feb 2025.

But the reality on ground suggests that this is harder to achieve than what agents & scam travel agencies advertise. Many have shared on this platform the difficulties of this process & I am yet to see someone from Nairaland confirm they successfully switched; it's mostly been the story of what happened to a friend or a family member. This suggests that this is quite tough to do.

I see you asked another question about long visit visa and I must ask that you exercise caution with that agent. He/she can not give you a job or accomodation and can not assure you of switching a visa.

Tons of folks have been scammed because of this.

Be careful.

I don't understand your agent's claim, but the truth is that IRCC normally issues visitor visa that is valid for up to 10 years.

To get the 10-year visa, both your passport and biometrics must be valid for 10 years when your visa is approved; otherwise, the visa will be issued up to the validity of your biometric or passport. Note that the biometric takes precedence over the passport.

For instance, if an applicant's passport is valid for ten years and the biometric is valid for six months, then the applicant will only be granted a visa for a maximum of 6 months, not a visa good for 10 years.

Hi Gurus in the house, Firstly I wanna say a big thank you to everyone genuinely contributing positively to this platform, you guy’s are heroes. I have been a beneficiary of the tangible information on this platform several times & I’m glad it has saved me a lot of stress and money having lost a fortune to agents in the past. Secondly, I wanna ask if anyone that did biometrics in London is facing the same fate as me. I and my partner were invited by my elder brother who is a permanent resident in Canada for Christmas Holiday but we haven’t heard back from Ircc since July 2023 till now. Several webform has been sent but application still stuck at ‘we are checking your background information’ stage. What could be the cause of the delay? Could it be because I didn’t use an ircc representative? For the record, I have traveled to Benin, Togo, Ghana, UAE, Germany, France, and United Kingdom.

Good morning family, please i need urgent help. An agent has promised to give a business class visa of up to 5 years for 4.5m or a visitor's visit for up to a year with a job and accommodation for 5m.
my questions are :
1. is this agent genuine?
2. is there anything like all the types of visas he is proposing?

please I need urgent response so I can make an informed decision. thank you so much!

Good morning people , thanks for always responding to my questions I really appreciate it so much... Please I want to ask a question, is it advisable or legal to travel with a visit visa to Canada and then seek asylum in canada?
Re: Canada Visit/tourist Visa Discussion. by Emanwel: 8:13am On Jan 05
Honestly I think you know your answers already. Asking us if your agent is genuine is funny 🤣
Unless your agent is a visa officer, I don’t know why you’ll believe anyone who says this to you.

Go on the IRCC official website and find types of visas for yourself!

If you can read, write and navigate your way on this platform, I’m sure you can do same on IRCC website. If you have issues filling a form, people here will help.

And oh…if you have enough money and faith to spare, go ahead with your agent for your business class visa

It’s not black and white. It may or may not be possible. It’s all about you and your documentations. Seeking asylum isn’t illegal.

Personally, I’ll take visitor’s visa only to visit

Same question those who have visitor visas, but planning to look for jobs have been asking.

Yes, it's very possible, but it's like a camel trying to pass through the eye of a needle.

Have you checked the processing period for people applying from UK? Certainly not , if you have then you will know is too early to be expecting Visa from them.
Re: Canada Visit/tourist Visa Discussion. by Deering1008: 10:08am On Jan 05
As at the time I checked the processing time, it says over 508 days. The reason I’m bothered is because I know someone that did around the same time as me that got a response within 3 weeks.

You should wait for your application to exceed the normal processing time before you start to worry or contact IRCC, because inquiries relating to your application will not be responded to if your application is still within the normal processing timeframe.

The current processing time for applications submitted in the United Kingdom is 535 days.

You may enjoy faster processing time if you have traveled to Canada in the last 10 years or if you currently have a valid US visa; other than that, you have to wait in the queue.

Some of the applicants are lucky, and their applications are processed within a short period of time.

Some of these applicants who benefited from the faster processing times are those whose applications fall under the CAN+ program.

To enjoy the CAN+ program, you must have traveled to Canada in the last 10 years or hold a valid visa when you submitted your visa application.

For those applicants whose application has exceeded the normal processing time of 115 days for applications submitted in Nigeria, this might be because of the holiday season.

Decision notices might start to drop in mid-January.

Hello house, please i have a question about my Canadian visa application that has been bothering me for quite a while now.
I recently applied for Canadian tourist visa and six days later, i went for my American visa interview which was denied. My question now is, hope the Canadian visa officer will be able to see the i was denied the US visa after i already applied for the Canadian visa and not assume that i lied on my visa application form as i understand they share the same database.
Kindly note that i had never been denied an American visa before submission of my Canadian visa application. The only visa i was denied was UK which i stated on my form. The US visa denial was only days after my Canadian visa application.

It can't be used against you since the US visa refusal happened after your application had been submitted.

You’re right, I don’t know the IRCC, but I know the visa officers are not out there to witch-hunt anyone.

I know they will refuse a visa if the applicant lies about past visa refusals, but this OP never did because this incident happened after he had submitted his application.

The dates will show that he didn’t lie about his past US visa refusal.
