It can be gathered of course but you know how some of our law enforcement agents behave if you don't lobby/bribe them to do their work they will not take you serious. Recently my phone was stolen I reported to the nearby station providing them with my phone details the officer I met asked me to give him something which I refused to do he promised to get back to me we exchanged contacts. After several weeks of not hearing from I called him he to get an update he flatly replied me with no update.

That’s why I said in my initial post that the bulk stops with the security agents . If government declares state of emergency on kidnapping and put pressure on security agencies and telecos we will have reduction in the cases of kidnapping .

Sorry about ur phone. Me personally when a phone is lost , the only thing I think is necessary is to report to a police station so it will be on record in case someone drops ur phone or sim at a crime scene and they later want to link u to the crime. I don’t believe police can help to track a stolen phone without settling them , so I don’t usually put my hope in them. I just report the case, retrieve my sim and buy another phone .

You know anything that happens in Rivers is always blown out of proportion. Rivers is a lot safer than most states. This includes Abuja where I hear they now enter houses to kidnap people. shocked

I agree. In retrospect, my constant barrage of Rivers State's gang culture mostly fueled the (exaggerated ?) notion of Rivers being a seeming warzone on this thread over the course of the last 9 months. That I take responsibility for.

But that safety/security comparison has always been in relation to what is obtainable in Akwa Ibom so maybe I am a tad biased.

It goes without saying that Port Harcourt is multiple times safer than many parts of the country, including Abuja, Benin, Warri, Kaduna, Lokoja, e.t.c. I'd take Port Harcourt over any of the aforelisted for this singular reason. I've stated safety/security is a relative term, even in the past.

Still, when it comes to the issue of gang culture - this being the onerous premise for my seeming castigation of Rivers State at intervals as anyone viewing this can attest to, it still holds true, relative to many other parts of the country or as a singular examination.

This news is painful to read, how heartless can these people be
Killed one of the girls and still increase the ransom fee
These people don't deserve direct death but slow and painful one

Looks like Abuja is becoming a no go

May God keep the father strong, I can't imagine being in his predicament

It's somehow honestly
Can't even imagine
It's obvious if they pay the ransom the kidnappers will kill all of them

Large portion of Vietnamese use Nguyen as surname. I have 3 colleagues answering that surname

It is more prevalent than English answering Smith

Correct. Nearly every Vietnamese i have met has been named Nguyen or Tran. About a third of the population uses Nguyen as surname, and they pronounce it "Win". I fumbled that pronunciation a few times before being corrected.

I suspect that it is the most common non-Chinese surname in the world.

Fair enough.

What I have always resisted is the notion that Rivers State is not safe. More than 99% of people do not go out thinking they won't return safely to their houses or go to bed with thoughts they may be attacked while sleeping.

It is not Switzerland level of crime rate but it's very far from the Kadunas, Plateau and Benues of this world.

Let those immigrants go back to their respective countries to play, and come back and tell me how many you will still see at the top.

France dey help them. No be dem dey help France

Fantastically well indeed.

The ones that are terrorising France are also immigrants. Why did you skip that part, knowing fully well that the Ronu group has that on their agenda?

Well, I am not standing with them. I believe if i have the right as a Nigerian, or Igbo, or Yoruba to determine who stays in my place, another person has that right too.

I am totally with you on this

Immigration is a privilege given by the original owners of the land to outsider and not a right

As an immigrant I am forever grateful to those who gave me the opportunity and will never take it for granted nor call their land a no man's land nor disrespect their culture

It is also out of control immigrants (esp middle eastern ones) who are responsible for this. Since they think they can come to liberal societies and then force their values

Exactly

As an immigrant you have to respect your host and their culture to avoid strife

Some immigrant want to dish what they can't take in their home country

Elrufai will never support his kidnapped family member being bombed with kidnappers . Elrufai lost a child back then and I watched on TV how emotionally wrecked he looked when people paid him condolence visits .

All these extreme solutions are easy to proffer when u and ur loved ones are not involved .

We need to go to the root cause of kidnapping to be able to solve kidnapping challenge

Kidnapping is a very delicate crime to combat because they have you by the balls and are holding your family members

An overwhelming majority of victims will prefer not to involve police and first negotiate with the kidnappers to ensure safety first na when that fail police dey hear

Absolutely. That's why I even said asking people not to pay ransom is easier said than done. God forbid my wife was kidnapped, I will sell everything I have to pay them.

Kidnapping in many cases involves an insider and involves a loved one in danger of harm

It's one of the worst crime to combat

Don't they have to get close enough to them to administer those gases? How will they pull it off.

I agree with you that they definitely have inside help from the military.

And while they are getting close there is a risk of hurting the victims

Imagine dropping Gas on them and finding that some victims have been killed because the kidnappers got wind of the attack

LOL. The Mongols were not able to really penetrate into Vietnam. I know the Nguyen name was used by multiple Vietnamese dynasties over the centuries sha. Ditto the Tran name.

People that recharge 100 naira is who you want to impose verification charge on?

Are you even aware that in the core villages, there is no address; No street or number...
Umuaku autonomous community, opposite Ichie Dike's compound. How is this address beneficial?

And lastly, you have been to the North. You know how many hours it takes within a state to move from point A to point B. How will Telcos fund that process?

Make dem spend 10k to verify house. Who go come pay the money?

No bank will accept that address from you.

And if you say Telcos should have that same standard, people won't have phones.

There are villages in Nigeria where Nepa pole never reach. How can you ask for a documentation when it doesn't exist?

They should send them back to their countries with immediate effect if they are not ready to live by French laws. Bunch of hypocrites.

Alright. I also thought it was an African name until I saw 10 names out of 22 having that name hence my curiosity.
