words of a fool or a lazy one.

Tenant be king in your own house you built with your sweat. And you believed all the Tenant said?

Sounds like a very entitled tenant from the tone of all this shalaye. You can't decide to include money you owe in the new rent you paying without approval from your landlord.
Any time you default on payment, you are at the mercy of the landlord and must be very humble and give constant update on how you intend paying when called upon.

Ogbeni for your landlady to do such means she is tired of you. Why not just jejely pack out?

It is an illegal act,the landlady should be arrested and brought to book. We don't know the consequences of our actions in this country, most don't even know the basic law governing landlords and tenants, they just act any how and believe nothing will happen.

Waiting to hear from madam landlady so I can say what's in my mind.

Re: Lagos Tenant Hospitalised As Landlady Breaks Into Apartment by fatboyslym007: 7:52am On Jan 29
Most likely the landlady has sold/rented or has the intention of selling/renting the apartment. But maybe the contract's term of notice has elapse.

The Tenant sounding all nice, may also be very troublesome. I wondered how a landlady would destroy her own property with thugs?

You said it's a two storey building, how come you are the only one harassed?
For how long have you rented the apartment "peacefully"?
Did you make modifications to the apartment?

The landlady and the representatives may have been misguided. But there's more to this story...

For him to have offered to pay the rent which will be due by May and she has refused to collect it. That could mean she must have given him quit notice earlier or is a troublesome kind of person which he has not mentioned.
Only a landlady from hell will just bring thugs to harrass his tenant unnecessary.
exactly, when she rejected the money,he should have look for another apartment simple.

Oga read what is up there well, he said he is due for another rent payment by May this year meaning he is not owing her and his rentaancy has not expired. So why cant she do the right thing by issuing him and quit notice against this running rent and wait for the right time with assistance from relevant bodies to quit the tenent.
so u just blivd him without hearing from the landlady side?

Hmmm, definitely it must have been traumatic for his wife.

But he didn't tell us all that happened before she came with thugs. It's just too abnormal for the landlady to do so without a prior misunderstanding between both of you, and she did so during the day for all to see exactly what happened.

Is it that she has given you 6 months quit notice from May last year and expected you to have left her house cos you said she refused to collect money from you.
It's common for tenants to say I have money to pay after they must have been issued quit notice.
Exactly

I thought yoruba landlord and Yoruba tenant never live in harmony?

Tribalism is a horrible thing, stop the generalisation already
Re: Lagos Tenant Hospitalised As Landlady Breaks Into Apartment by Krucifax(m): 9:23am On Jan 29
The tenant is a liar. He has not given the full or real account of what happened.
Too many Nigerians are in the habit of wanting to occupy another's property without paying what they owe when required.
While the landlord's behaviour is not nice it's due to the frustration of the tenants.
You know very well that the landlord would have called several times before taking the law into their hands.
To Nigerian tenants know that landlords are also human beings who worked hard to make money to build houses. They need the rent to survive too because the house is an investment.
If you can't afford the rent carry your wahala and go somewhere else. Cut your cut coat according to your size instead of constituting nuisance and then coming to complain online.

You are the ignorant dummy. Am a veteran real estate consultant and I have over 20 years experience. Once proven that the tenant is within his right, she is in hot soup. There are legal ways to manage a tenant and forcing your way into their apartment while their rent is still running is definitely not one of them

So someone that paid for a year should now pack out when he still has every legal right over the apartment due to the fact that his rent is still running. The landlady is meant to to dialogue with him and offer him some refund if she wants him to leave. Based on this the landlady deserves to be in Jail

pls wait and hear the other side of the story before judging. This is jus one side story for now. Their is more to the man story. He may have out leave his quit notice " Refused to collect" house rent expires this year May. May last yr to Dec last yr 7month already. I'm not supporting the landlady, but hear her too.
Re: Lagos Tenant Hospitalised As Landlady Breaks Into Apartment by Awesome01(m): 9:54am On Jan 29
I still find it difficult to believe that a landlady who knows how much it takes to repair or replace the doors and windows of her own house will deliberately destroy them just to spite the tenant.

If she truly did that. It shows that she has exhausted all peaceful means of ejecting this tenant and is ready to use extreme ways to remove him.

He must have been a serial problematic tenant to the landlady ab initio

I'm not disputing the fact that's legal agreements between a tenant and a landlord.

What I'm saying is that you spoke like a lazy individual.

No matter what a landlord does to me, I wouldn't have the mind to stay on a property for rent free on another mans sweat.

You clearly do not have a landed property. Ingnorant lazy entitled foul like you.

So you believe this crappy one-sided story.

This guy is obviously a terrible tenant which is what prompted the landlady to take this type of action! undecided
