Anyways Bay FC needed a Star Player and an experience hand upfront and Asisat Oshoala falls into that Category… They still need to bring in at least 2 to 3 top players at Oshoala’s level to compete… 26 League game and the Challenge Cup..

If you know how American sports work, you'll know it's a big ask for them to make the playoffs. They way American team build is to tank and get the best young players via draft. Except a miracle happens or they go big in the market (salary cap is also an issue), Bay FC isn't making the playoffs.

A big task but very much possible, but right now as a new team their major task is to Gel together and get a good position on the Log, but again they do need the experience legs like Asisat and Co to help in the building process… They did made a good pick from the NWSL College Draft, if they finally unveil Asisat Oshoala she would be their biggest player and one of the top 10 stars in the NWSL

Bay FC announces the signing of Asisat Oshoala from Barcelona femeni.

Forward departs Barcelona, signs contract through 2026 with option for 2027 season.

San Francisco (Feb. 1, 2024) – Bay FC, the Bay Area’s new women’s professional soccer franchise in the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL), have acquired the rights to Nigerian international Asisat Oshoala through a transfer with FC Barcelona Femení of Liga F in Spain in exchange for a transfer fee, the club announced today. Following the transfer, the forward was signed to a contract through the 2026 season with an option for the 2027 campaign. She will join the team and be added to the roster pending the receipt of her P-1 visa and International Transfer Certificate (ITC). Oshoala will occupy an international roster spot.

“To have the opportunity to add a player of Asisat’s quality, experience and winning pedigree to our roster is an exciting and important day for the club and the NWSL,” said Bay FC General Manager Lucy Rushton. “She brings a top-class mentality to the field combined with pace and technical ability that allows her to lead the line, while also giving those players around her the license to be creative and thrive in space. Asisat is a proven goal scorer at the most elite levels of World football, and she comes here to continue that with Bay FC.”

At Barcelona across five seasons (2019-23), Oshoala scored 107 goals in 149 appearances, including a record-setting season in 2022, when she was the joint top scorer in the league with 19 goals. The two-time Ballon D’or nominee led the team in scoring three times, helping the club win the UEFA Women’s Champions League twice (2020-21, 2022-23), earn four league titles, three Spanish Super Cups and the Copa de la Reina three times. She became the first African woman to the win the UEFA Champions League final in 2021 and the first African woman to score in the Champions League final in 2019.

Professionally, she began her career in Nigeria with Rivers Angels FC before making the move to Europe and signing with Liverpool on Jan. 23, 2015. Oshoala spent time with Liverpool and Arsenal, winning the 2016 FA Cup with Arsenal before signing with Chinese club Dalian in Feb. 2017. She won two league titles in China (2017, 2018) and went on loan to Barcelona on Jan. 31, 2019, before making the permanent move in May 2019.

A six-time African Women’s Footballer of the Year, Oshoala has appeared in three FIFA Women’s World Cups (2015, 2019, 2023) with Nigeria, helping the team advance to the Round of 16 in both the 2019 and 2023 tournaments. As a youth international, she was the Golden Ball and Golden Boot winner at the 2014 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup, scoring seven goals in the tournament.

For me it’s a good move…. Having Played in Europe ( 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 for Liverpool and Arsenal Ladies, 🇨🇳 for Dalian Quajian and 🇪🇸 for Barcelona) .. Going to play in the NWSL was the best choice right now as they’re a strong league side which fit her game so well especially her Pace which have reduced though, She can as well work on that again….

My hope is that the Super Falcons, Falconets, and Flamingoes would all appear at their respective global tournaments this year.

Remarkably, the last time that the SF, Falconets and Flamingoes played at the Olympics, U-20 WC, and U-17 WC, respectively, in the same year was back in 2008…

I suspect that Bay FC is about to announce that they've signed Leah Williamson.

Yesterday they used Gary Payton and Flavour's music to announce Asisat Oshoala. We all know that Asisat Oshoala loves basketball and is Nigerian.

Now they've used Michelle Wie to announce someone amd they specifically mentioned a "A new weapon in our Arsenal".

Michelle Wie was the breakout young golf star of the 2000s. Leah Williamson loves golf and plays for Arsenal. I think Leah Williamson and Asisat Oshoala are about to reunite at Bay FC.

Let’s wait till they unveil her at least they have drawn the World attention by Signing Asisat Oshoala.. They already have one of the League best right back in the team Caprice Dydasco, veteran CB Emily Menges, Midfielder Deyne and Asisat… if Leah comes then is a blast.. They’re quite a rich side to be able to get ZEE and if Leah comes then it’s all good..

Lucy isn't leaving Barcelona to join an expansion team in the NWSL. If she does leave as the rumour suggest it's to a title vying team.

Nigerian Goalkeeper Ruth Sunday Joins Saudi Arabian Club Golden Eagles

Experienced Nigerian/ E Guinea Goalkeeper Ruth Sunday has sealed a move to Saudi Arabian Club, Golden Eagles, Riyadh, for the remainder of the season.

Golden Eagles, a club in the first division of the Saudi's Women League acquired the services of the former Pelican Stars and Confluence Queens safe hands for a short term, with the option of extending. The Equatorial Guinea National team Goalkeeper is expected to bring her wealth of talents to play in the Asian team, having gathered enough experience, playing in the NWFL Premiership and Equatorial Guinea side, Malabo King, where she kept in the CAF Women Champions League for two consecutive seasons..

Lol 😂
As if an expansion team isn’t worth it, what else does she want to win apart from the World Cup and Olympic?? She’s 32yrs already, the cash will definitely spur her there as the NWSL is still rated the No.1 in the World especially the Americans who wouldn’t want their league rated 2nd to anyone!
