he capped them for the SE... so it was not a foolish thing to do..

they did not falter against Ghana. Uzoho messed up against Ghana and Osimhen failed to score so it was Uzoho and Osimhen that faltered against Ghana.

Same way Osimhem is faltering in this AFCON but people are too sentimental to see it..

If Osimhen was not the main striker and definitely NOT Onuachu as main striker then SE would have been winning matches by at least 3 to 4 goals.

I am 80% sure Eguavoen would have called Nathan Tella or Orban Or Adams for this tournament. he might say Tella is too young same way he said Amoo was too young.
what kind of analysis is this? Do you really know th impact of osihmen in that position? Do you know the power of pressing? Remove osihmen and you See the essence of that formation crumble abi your eye blind seeing the way that guy press and defend? Or you think everything is scoring? Osihmen is doing fantastically well and very unselfish. Thank God you ain't ehe coach. We for Don come back since.

Why We Lost To Super Eagles – Coach Of Angola Explains

OwngoalnigeriaFeb 2, 2024Read original

The head coach of the senior national team of Angola Pedro Gonçalves has explained why his team were beaten 1-0 by the senior national team of Nigeria in the quarter final of the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.

Ademola Lookman got the only goal of the game off a fantastic assist from Moses Simon to hand Nigeria a spot in the semi final in a game that saw both teams go all out in search of a win.

Explaining why his team fell short, the coach lamented the fact that his team has travelled around Ivory Coast for the tournament, hence suffering from fatigue unlike the Super Eagles who have been in the capital city of Abidjan since the start of the tournament.

“Nigeria have never left Abidjan since the start of the tournament, but we (Angola) have played in about three cities. Truthfully, fatigue also played a path in our performance but it still no excuse. Let’s just commend ourselves for getting this far”, he said at the post match conference.

“I would like to congratulate the Nigerian team. They have a very strong squad. It was a demanding game Trying to mourn about this defeat is not a good attitude to have. Our strikers didn’t perform. Nigeria were more efficient.”

He went further to praise the quality in the Nigerian side saying their quality played a huge role in determining the outcome of the game.

“It’s not like my players were scared or star struck at the Nigerian players. But when you’re faced with reality, you must accept it.”

“Which players are you playing against? What are their qualities? Nigeria has quality, and it showed.”

I could not believe my eyes when I saw that lineup, and then the view got bleaker when I realised he had no plans to field Iheanacho.

One of the most mind-boggling coaching I have ever seen from a SE gaffer, and to do that against Ghana was simply unforgivable. Ghana wasn't even decent, they were ass! We had a team that deserved a World Cup berth and he threw it away with idiotic decisions.
He fell to the allure of social media soccer pundits. He was too malleable

Onyeka did well but Iwobi was more effective with his passing and control of the game.

Onyeka is playing a different role from Iwobi. Iwobi's job is to control the game which comes with being efficient with passes. Onyeka is playing defensive midfield and back to back midfield. Iwobi was removed because after the first half he was spent and became a liability to the team. Onyeka held that midfield and controlled it after Iwobi was removed.

In case, you haven't noticed, Onyeka has stamped his influence and authority in that team. He is very key and almost irreplaceable in that team. Perhaps, his quiet nature isn't helping him.

I watched him deliver long and short accurate passes. He bossed that midfield yesterday. I think you guys have a preference for Iwobi for some reasons.

Onyeka is the spine of this squad!

Some people need to understand that tiki taka & beautiful football is the worst tactics to employ in a cup tournament especially in the knock out phase because all what the opposition needs to do is to sit back and play you on the counter and score and after scoring they will park the bus and continue playing you on the counter untill they score again or untill the 90 minutes elapses while the tiki taka team will be passing and passing untill the final whistle

No wonder Jose Mourinho sabi win cup tournament in all the football clubs he managed cheesy
Case study inter milan vs Barcelona in 2009 uefa champions league semi final cheesy
Barcelona pass tire but na inter milan play bayern for final cool
Tiki taka should be banned. It's anti - football

I kept screaming "Osimhen don tire" at my viewing center sotey people come dey look me somehow. Lol.

Osimhen himself knew he gassed out around the 70-75th minutes and could barely carry himself around the pitch and yet he insisted on staying on and jeopardizing the team's attacking chances.

Even after he was stretchered off and the coach wanted to substitute him, Osimhen used his "big star power" to force the coach to let him back on.

This is very terrible behavior from Osimhen. He probably thinks of himself as the Messiah and main character of the team while in actual fact, he is the most easily replaceable player there. It's not like he has been banging in the goals anyways.

I feel very bad for Moffi and Iheanacho.
This is an awkward thing to say. Some of una go don commit suicide if you were judged the way you judge undecided

Lol for matching their AfCON trophy and not surpassing it. An AFCON trophy that they have last won in 1982. And we are just about equalling. Give the little country the flowers it deserve, I mean how could the likes of segun Odegbami, Christian Chukuwu, Steven Keshi, and JJ Okocha play so many years and still deliver only 3 AFCON for us. I feel we should easily be on 9 AFCON trophies by now.
Between 94 and 2000 when we were at our prime, we missed two Afcons and we would have at least won one or two and with VAR, the dodgy decisions that made Cameroun edge us out in 88 and 2000 would not have happened. Ghanaians are seriously praying that we don't win this Afcon, they literally dread us winning it.

Osimhen should be replaced when he is tired but he needs to do more. He loses the ball so easily and he needs to be more clinical in front of the goal

I must admit, these players have been awesome and proven most people wrong. But let's look at it closely, it's a new trend we are seeing in Afcon, with Cape Verde, Mauritania, Guinea, E-Guinea, Mali, and DRC, including the north Africans and other traditional big soccer-playing countries all parading foreign-borns, the reason the Afcon has been of a very high standard and bridging the gap between the perceived smaller and bigger soccer playing nations in Africa. This trend has come to stay and we will see more foreign-borns opting to play for their countries of origin. Good for the game.
In the future, one super talent will choose naija other than England. This I have seen.

How is it funny

If SE was relying on Osimhen for goals then SE would have drawn all their group matches.

SE only scored 1 goal which Osimhen scored in the group games and the SE did not score from open play in the other group matches.

1 was penalty and the other was own goal. How to get the best out of Osimhen should be the coaches priority and changing his position and role should be considered because SE needs someone that presses and defends from the front like Osimhen.
You're very funny, osihmen is not scoring but what he bring to the team i don't think we have any player who can do such.

Take the game against Cameroon for example you see how he bully that defender to get the assist which led to lookman goal that goal alone disorganized the Cameroonian team, we need that X factor in our team you can't be thinking about Nigeria team and don't have osihmen in mind. The attention is on him why the other players do the dirty job.

Why was Jpes shouting at Onyeka after substituting him?

Speaking to reporters at the post-match press conference, Peseiro said: "Before the break I called Iwobi and Onyeka, asked them who is more tired so I can bring in one substitute. No one said I'm tired.

"After five minutes Ekong came to tell me Onyeka cannot continue. Ekong informed me you must change Onyeka.

"From my bench, it's better I keep Iwobi, put Yusuf, and Onyeka goes out but I know all the players want to complete the game.

"I was angry in that moment. Two times Ekong said Onyeka is tired due to the pain in the shoulder. But I asked him five minutes before, not 10, 15 or 20 minutes, said he was okay, it's happening in football.

"The captain on the pitch can inform me about some situations - some players tired, some players feeling some pain."
