Was Man Created Before Satan Rebelled Against God or After? by Nobody: 6:01pm On Oct 26, 2012
Job 38:4-7

4 Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? declare, if thou hast understanding.

5 Who hath laid the measures thereof, if thou knowest? or who hath stretched the line upon it?

6 Whereupon are the foundations thereof fastened? or who laid the corner stone thereof;

7 When the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy?

Gen 1:26-27

26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

27 So God created man in his [own] image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

The scriptures above clearly shows that the morning stars (Sons of God or Angels - Satan was one of them) were present & shouting for joy when God created the earth & man. My question now is, did Satan rebelled against God after He (God) has created man or before?

If the answer to the above question is before He created man; then, why did He (God) not completely destroy Satan before creating man knowing fully well that he (Satan) would try to tempt man to bring sin into the world?

Infact, sin wouldn't have existed without Satan. In my opinion, I think satan rebelled against God after man was created.

I need your contributions on this topic, please backup with scriptures. Thanks

There are many versions. But i believe most of them agree that "Satan rebelled from the start" before man was created. I selected my words very carefully.
In fact some believe that Adam was the second-generation man, the modified or improved version. Sorry i cant look for references at the moment,

No way, God does not seem to like to destroy things like Satan or Us. Even the angels that sinned by marrying our women are not yet in hell.

Your belief must be based on something. Do you wish to believe that heaven and earth were created on the same day? Do you not think that angels existed before man?

what was the caused of satan rebellious act against God? I believed he rebelled against God when God said He wants to create man in His own image who will have dominion over all creatures including him"satan".
If my belief is true that's means satan rebelled against God before our creation, because he never wanted us to have dominion over him. And also, that's why he always deceive man(like what happened in the garden of Eden) to make God regrets creating us. Shekinah!

Sure, I do believe that angels existed before man was created, the scriptures I quoted suggested the same. Heaven existed before earth. What I don't seem to understand is the time Satan led a rebellion against God; was it before or after man was created?

And my opinion is that satan actually rebelled against God after man was created, because if it were before man was created, God would have destroyed or lock him up somewhere first so that he won't be able to mislead man into committing sin.

However, if it's the other round, then, I believe God's purpose for creating man has something to do with why Satan is allowed to prove his point before being destroyed and condemned for eternity.

Satan was proud and wanted rulership too. Check the scriptures below;

Ezekiel 28:15-18

15 Thou [wast] perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee.

16 By the multitude of thy merchandise they have filled the midst of thee with violence, and thou hast sinned: therefore I will cast thee as profane out of the mountain of God: and I will destroy thee, O covering cherub, from the midst of the stones of fire.

17 Thine heart was lifted up because of thy beauty, thou hast corrupted thy wisdom by reason of thy brightness: I will cast thee to the ground, I will lay thee before kings, that they may behold thee.

18 Thou hast defiled thy sanctuaries by the multitude of thine iniquities, by the iniquity of thy traffick; therefore will I bring forth a fire from the midst of thee, it shall devour thee, and I will bring thee to ashes upon the earth in the sight of all them that behold thee.

In his arrogance, Yaldabaoth boasted to the other archons that:
"I am God and there is no other God beside me!"

Yaldabaoth was weak and ignorant, because he didn't realise that were any power greater than him. He thought he was the First. Yaldabaoth had sinned for saying these words, which was why he was called Samael – "the blind god". He has another name – Saklas, a name usually assigned to Satan.

You meant Yaldabaoth who was really devil in disguise - he is the god of this world. Different from the loving Father Jesus described. Just search nairaland for Yahweh.

Who created Satan?
Most Christians believe the answer to that question is obvious: “God created Satan.” But that is not really true. God created Lucifer. That may seem like a small distinction at first glance, but once you understand who really made Satan, it will change your perspective of him forever.

You will never again doubt your authority over the devil. You will realize that he is an inferior being, unable to do anything without the cooperation of a human being. And any fear you have of him will disappear as you realize he is nothing but a big zero with the rim knocked off.

I believe that God created everything, including Lucifer. He created Lucifer as a powerful anointed angel. However, Lucifer wasn’t satisfied with that, and he didn’t remain the anointed cherub that God created him to be.

Ezekiel 28:13-14 describe him as he originally was in the Garden of Eden:

“Thou hast been in Eden the garden of God; every precious stone was thy covering, the sardius, topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold: the workmanship of thy tabrets and of thy pipes was prepared in thee in the day that thou wast created. Thou art the anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee so: thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire.”

Most people believe that Lucifer took one-third of the angels and rebelled against God in heaven, where he was defeated and then cast to earth. This is all taken from one scripture, in Revelation 12:4, and was popularized by Finis Dake in the Dake’s Bible commentary. I don’t believe that is what actually happened.

I believe that Satan was originally on this earth in the Garden of Eden as Lucifer. He was God’s number one angel sent to earth to be a blessing to Adam and Eve.

Hebrews 1:14 says this about angels:

“Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?”

Lucifer wasn’t sent to the earth to tempt Adam and Eve but to bless them. He was an angelic being sent to be their protector, to minister to them, and to serve them. He was there on a divine mission, still in his perfect state. It was in the Garden that his transgression against God was conceived and carried out.

Ezekiel 28:15 goes on to say,

“Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee.”

I have never been able to follow the logic that God sent Satan to earth to tempt man and see how he would respond. As a father, would you take your two-year-old child and put him or her in a cage with a lion just to see how he or she would respond? That would obviously be irresponsible; the child would be no match for the lion. God wouldn’t do that to us, and he didn’t do that to Adam and Eve.

So, what made Lucifer turn against God? Lucifer watched as God did something for man that He had never done with any other of His creation. When God created man, not only was he made in the very image of God, but he was then given unconditional authority over this earth.

Genesis 1:26 says,

“And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.”

He didn’t say to them, “Now as long as you follow my leading and as long as you do what I want you to do, I will let you have dominion over the earth.” There was zero qualification for this power and authority. God spoke it and that was it.

God says in Psalm 89:34,

“My covenant will I not break, nor alter the thing that is gone out of my lips.”

In Hebrews 1:3 it says,

“Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high” (emphasis mine).

What this is saying is that God cannot lie; it’s the integrity of His Word that holds the entire universe together. Unlike human beings who reserve the right to change their minds, God will not violate His Word. When He told Adam and Eve they had dominion, authority, and power to subdue and rule, it was done.

Lucifer understood the integrity of God’s words, and when he heard this, I believe his antenna went up. He saw that Adam and Eve had something he wanted but didn’t have: They had unconditional authority. In a way, they had been made the gods of this world; it was theirs to rule and subdue.

We read in Psalm 115:16,

“The heaven, even the heavens, are the LORD’S: but the earth hath he given to the children of men.”

Even though Lucifer may have been God’s number one angel, he still wanted more. He was jealous and envious; he actually wanted to take God’s place.

In Isaiah 14:13 it says,

“For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north.”

The next verse says,

“I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.”

Lucifer understood that if he could deceive Adam and Eve into willingly relinquishing their authority to him that he could become the god of this world. He could take the authority that was given to mankind, use it to thwart the kingdom of God, and receive the praise and adoration and glory he wanted.

Romans 6:16 says this,

“Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?”

So, who made Satan? We did! The moment Adam and Eve yielded to Lucifer, he became Satan, the god of this world. You might be thinking, But Satan deceived them. Shouldn’t God have stopped him?

Read 1 Timothy 2:14:

“And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression.”

Adam knew what he was doing.

I believe the moment Lucifer transgressed against God, he lost his angelic power. Satan now has no power or authority of his own; he only has what he has been able to deceive people into giving him. Now, that is a powerful statement.

Think about what that means to you as a believer. When we are resisting the devil and fighting against him, Satan does not have a superior power or authority. He is absolutely dependent upon the cooperation of a human being who will empower him with the authority God gave them.

Satan is going about like a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour. He is looking for people who will open the door through things like lust, rebellion, strife, unforgiveness, fear, and more. When we yield to those things, we are empowering him to destroy us, and I guarantee you, given the opportunity, he will eat your lunch and pop the bag.

Where and when did Lucifer become satan (the adversary)?
Obviously in Eden. Lucifer had been placed (not cast down) in Eden.
Eden was Adam's home. His work place you may say.

Scripture explains that lucifer was still perfect when he was in Eden (the home of Adam).
So his disobedience occurred when he was still in duty in Eden. He saw the chance to deceive Adam through Eve and he took it.

Only God was above man, and if lucifer could become above man, it means he has become like God.

Most people believe (although scripture doesn't say so) that something occurred between Gen 1:1 and Gen 1:2.
But could that be true? Should we seriously believe such theory without scriptural backing?

The truth is, nothing really happened there.
Think about this... What makes the earth beautiful and full of life? If you know the answer, now imagine taking away all of that, and you have a formless and lifeless earth.

When God created the earth, I believe all He first created was the land mass and the waters.
There were no trees, grasses, animals, nothing. Just darkness. The sun had not been commanded to come forth and bring light upon the earth. The flowers did not provide any beauty cos they didn't exist yet.

Before God brought forth every life form, there was nothing here to give form or life to the earth.
God began to transform the formless void into a beautiful place for man to exist.
Of course He divided the waters, brought light, provided the right amount of oxygen, put deposits of hydrocarbon (crude oil), gold, diamond etc.

And of course God began to create the plants, the animals and every life form. Now the earth was a good home for God's children.

Think about how expectant Parents prepare their babies room before the baby is born. An unused storage room can be transformed into a beautiful crib. And we know God is more loving than every man. Our love nature comes from Him.

Joagbaje self, didn't you understand or see anything from staggerman's post. Read Eze 28:13-15. Stop at v15. Didn't you see he was in Eden and was perfect until iniquity was found in him. At that point he became satan.

@ staggerman.
Lucifer became satan in v15. When sin was found in him. We did not make him satan.

Your article made me see more loop holes in trinity doctrine. Of course Christ did not make a mistake when He said 'our God is one.'

There are inhabitable parts of the earth. Even the deserts and underground caves were created by God.
Prior to making the earth habitable, there was nothing but land mass and water over the earth.

According to Gen 1:3, God created the earth even before He created light. So the earth was in darkness at this time.
Just shut your eyes tight and imagine how it was. No light. No green grass. No Ozone layer. No perfect atmosphere. No seasons. Nothing. The whole earth was inhabitable at that time. It was formless and void.

But God began to make it a home. Not just a planet but a home for man.
Think about how you buy a piece of undeveloped land.
It's full of trees and bush. There are wild animals everywhere, including snakes.
You get people to clear the land. You start the foundation. You complete the structure and develop it. Then you furnish your house.
What you have done is to transform that inhabitable bush into a home.
That is what God did on earth.
