Pls I need to book appointments with VFS this February, I have been waiting for it to open, pls who has any idea of when dates will be available?
Re: Portugal Job Seekers Visa by Raregem9000(m): 6:48pm On Feb 01
It was opened on Jan 30th and all the available dates got filled up within a couple of minutes. You just have to keep checking from time to time.

Is it an offer for vocational training or employment-placement contract?

If it's the latter then it's an invitation (apply for a tourist/business visa) if not, congratulations, you got yourself a job contract (apply for a job "grin" visa)
MrCuteking:

I just received offer letter from IEFP . Is it the same as invitation letter?

I know how it works, so that's why I was wondering what you said in your last response. You painted it as if it was the increase in the exchange rate that made your ticket expensive whereas it wasn't.
Okay.

“Application for work search visa declaration of expression of interest for registration in the IEFP.”
That was what I saw as the title of the letter. Written in Portuguese.
Re: Portugal Job Seekers Visa by YeyeBoyfriend: 9:23pm On Feb 02
It's just a letter of DECLARATION OF EXPRESSION OF INTEREST FOR IEFP REGISTRATION which should've been done after you've entered Portugal, however, it could be a plus if you attach it to the documents you'll be submitting for your job seeker application

Be warned, the jobs available are hotel and restaurant waiters (in summer) , labourers in construction site (all-round the year), farm/garden/fruit pickup (seasonal), but gardening can be all-year round.

Wages are low, €5.20 to €6 per hour in that category. You can make up to €860-€900/month if you work for about 20 days in a month. If you have extra days to work, and you are a labourer in construction, you can earn up to €1,100 or €1,200/month, mostly in summer when you have longer day, and if you work 9 hours/day.

Portugal is not an industrialized country or a warehouse/logistic hub like Germany, and so, don't expect much. Their own children also go to central Europe in search of greener pasture.

Accommodation is scarce but available in location where there's no job. In places where you can find jobs, it's always difficult to find accommodation and it's between €250-€350/room. And this is why Indians, Pakistanis, Bangla, Afghans can be up to 4 people in a room and pay €150/bedspace.

But the good news is, in 5 years, you will obtain your permanent residence card, which would allow you to stay and work in any part of EU, and if your proficiency is high in Portuguese, you can apply for a Portuguese passport immediately after your Permanent Resident card. Your passport is visa-free to Canada, America, UK and almost everywhere. Weigh the options and know that you are not coming to a place where life is that easy.

How is that possible? €860-€900/month for 20hrs work?

On the day of your appointment, they'll write out what you'll need to pay in naira using the rate of that day, it's not something that's pegged at a particular rate

Thank you but please I have more questions
1. Do you think it will be as high as black market rate?
2. The *consent form for SEF to do back ground check* where will I get it?
3. The *Natioanl visia application form* where will I get it?

Thank you
Re: Portugal Job Seekers Visa by YeyeBoyfriend: 7:51pm On Feb 04
1, The difference between black market and official rate aren't too far apart, however, it won't be as high as the black market rate

2, All you need to do is give approval, the embassy will take care of that

3, Go to vfs portal or Google "VFS Nigeria Portugal national visa form"

I think that is the documents they send to everyone who fill the form nothing different and I don't know if anyone has been able to get this visa from Nigeria, I still can't see any success story here.

I have a friend who has gone via this route. I met him on nairaland I would have loved to tag his moniker but he wouldn't like that. He is there now. We started the journey together then but I didn't believe it would work out so I faced another country. I'm back now o . I'm going with full force. No more doubting Thomas.
