We move we just need to improve but osimhen was really poor he like people day fear to talk true

He was cancelled out easily and resorted to aimless fouls. No good link-up play, no chance created, no attempt at goal. In ninety minutes plus.

Not even one.

Personally I think this team should be disbanded, except for only Osimhen, Nwabali, Ekong, Onyeka and maybe Aina...time to bed in the likes of Orban, Akinsanmiro, Eletu, Igoh Ogbu etc into the team ASAP...we pretty much lucked our way into the final so it is what it is...also time to phase out the likes of Iwobi, Chukwueze, Simon, Musa- thanks for your services but it's time for fresh ideas

Congrats to CIV, it was always written in the stars for them to be champions so I'm not pained. We go again next year.

Thank God say no be you be coach or NFF chairman.

We get World Cup qualifiers in a few months, if you like, scatter the entire team for untested players. You people will lose woefully again.

and you want to win trophies or excel at tournaments like the World Cup, don't be petty na? no be fight? grin

We lost today because of an exceptional play by Haller, is it a crime to ask more from our so-called big players haba

Nwabali should have done better perhaps for that ball but he flapped at it. Zaidu also should have gotten to Kessie quicker.

Meanwhile... You see what decisions do. Kessie should have been carded in the first half for that elbow on Zaidu and probably should not be on the pitch but here he is scoring for CIV.

Decisions.

We play on

Kessie's red card. I see why Pesiero got frustrated earlier and got carded for it. He knew they were sabotaging his plans. He wanted to score and have such decisive moment for his team. But his outburst was rather too early, he would have played that card when Zaidu was down. Got carded. Delayed the match and force the VAR team to look at it.

This sort of craveness na wa. Here you go again. I ask: did we lost this match because of our lack of humility? So if we'd been humble, we would have won? Point out one single instance of boastfulness on the part of the players and the coach?

Did you not read Ivorians boasting they'd win because it's written in the stars? Omo your way of judging things is baffling.
I dont think we had any Ivorien on this thread. I wouldn't know what they said or didn't say, my point was that the bandwagonism and lack of depth to proper analysis by champions of this thread was baffling.
A little point I raised about the SA striker having a field day was met with stoic push back, even with video evidence.
The insatiable point everyone wanted to hear was how we will wipe the floor with Ivory coast. People were just farming likes without any form of substance or analysis.

Onyeka was the Spine of our midfield at this tournament. And remember, even I didn't rate Onyeka enough to start in my first 11 for a 433. But Onyeka shone in this 343 and won my heart.

Iwobi's best match came vs Equatorial Guinea in a 433. He was out of his depths in this 343. He was covered up for plenty times.

forgiveness:

Iwobi played him part till the knockout stage where he fizzled out.

How does Super Eagles losing or winning affect your life? You see how stupid your analogy is. Super Eagles are not controlling economy, they are not the ones making dollar 1,500 Naira. Nothing a football team does can affect my life the way policies from government can.

Once again, if you no fit wear boot go replace Nwabali, find another thing to talk. "We must keep looking..." who be the we? Who sabi you? Go wear gloves enter pitch.

Nwabali is good enough for us for now, better than what we have had in 5 years, but you can keep trekking in search of Casillas.

My verdict, we have done well, we have exceeded the expectations we had going to the tournament, no one gave that squad a chance to get to the final, the problems we had in the final today was a problem that was obvious for over 6 months or even our world cup qualification. We had a patched midfield that did well getting to the finals but was badly exposed today. No point feeling bad , I can only praise them.

Now my reaction to this, enough of huge ego of we have too many talents and any player that doesn't want to play for us should not come, it's time to build our TEAM, qualifying for semi finals and Finals in Afcon and loosing should not continue to be a habit, it was obvious we needed ball carriers and runners to help Onyeka's hardwork in that midfield but lacked it soon much. Now we need to go find them. We need 2 technical teams from the nff that should go round and convince players to play for Nigeria, we have to many diaspora talents that we can't just relax and say we can't beg them infact from the English league, Italian league, German league we can build a squad from them, while watching that final today I could just imagine having a runner like Ogbene of Luton town and a ball carrier like Eze along with Onyeka we would counter that ivory coast team like demons. We gave our attackers especially Osihmen little chance., It's time to go and reach out and convince the diaspora talents more

The second technical team should focus on the local league and African league and find talents there too. We should not be patching up a squad with few weeks/ months to the to tournament, there is another Afcon next year we have work to do. Thanks very much.

Did we not win AFCON in 2013 with a team that was not quite exceptional?

Do you think it is Super Teams that win tournaments?

It was Haller that stood out for CIV, but it is not because the entire team was exceptional. They too has weak links, so, like I said, you will always have a weak link.

If you like tweak and tweak, you will always have a weak link.

Good run from our players , we saw determination ,unity ,love and sense of purpose which has been lacking in our football for a while.
We were not perfect, yet got to the final.
That is the beauty of this beautiful run which we should not deprive ourselves of enjoying.
Even when we had great footballing legs in africa , we got used to bronze.
With proper player upgrade , we will enjoy our football as a nation again.
I am not happy about the outcome ,but many football pundits , analysts ,fans , fanatics , home base lovers , foreign based player converter lovers, never saw us in the finals including my novice me.
LOUDLY SPEAKING,THIS HAS BEEN OUR BEST RUN ,AFTER 2013 AFCON.

The problem is we can't manage success, this has been good for our Eagles but why can't we fully assess where we need to improve so we can get better?

CIV are wining every second ball

We are not positioned to be offensive just defensive.

Ademola is being over worked and Iwobi is too far bsck to infkuence the game. We have no midfield because of the formation .

Iwobi is gassed out snd making poor decisions.

I quite agree, we forgot how to be offensive. And what did the coach do, he brought in his offensive arsenal and reverted from five at the back to four there, adding another striker.

To be honest, we didn't deserve to be in the finals. This team has plenty of work to do. The coach has been riding his luck so far but everyday no be Christmas.

1. Peseiro's strategy is poor. Just score one and defend for your lives. Very lazy way to coach. No backup plan in case you concede, nothing.

2. Osimhen has been below par. I dare anybody to point at a single good thing that he did throughout today. Just causing fouls and limping around aimlessly. Ighalo was a FAR better and more impactful striker for us than Osimhen. Full stop.

osimhen was below par in the afcon agreed but has achieved more than ighalo in the team so far. He has 21 goals and an afcon silver medal; did your ighalo reach those heights? His campaign was below expectation but he pulled his weight. 3 cancelled goals 2 penalties won and 1 assist. Ighalo is in the set of martins. Osimhen is above that set.

African cerebral midfielders aren't trusted enough for top clubs when their white counterparts simply can do the cerebral jobs. They always look to African midfielders who are brawny and highly physical to come do the dirty work. This is why you have most of such MFs in good clubs in Europe.

In the group stages, he shone in the first match in a 433 majorly.

In the second game, he was slightly above average vs CIV in a 343.

Vs Guinea Bissau in the third game, he was just there off the bench in a 343.

He was truly out of his depths in a 343. More subdued in a 343 than he was in a 433.

The knockouts only proved it further and strongly deeper.

Today we didn't deserve to win.

The referee was incompetent, but I don't think he decided the game.

Not much to analyse here, CIV dominated every facet of the game. Our outlet long balls to Osimhen was frustrated by the referee.

Aina wasn't great but one on one against a relatively fresh Simon Adingra for 90mins is not an easy gig, he will definitely be successful with a couple of deliveries.

Ekong has matured into a proper leader. We have missed this for some time now. Musa can now be thanked for his services through the years.

We will be back.
