We made it to the finals and it's arrogant to think we're the only country that deserved to win. Let's celebrate that small win. Super Eagles did well

Coach with Zero modern football tactics
He used 3-4-3 formation (3 defenders) in an overall team defensive strategy.

The Ivorians found out and capitalized on it using their very effective and powerful flanks/wingers.

Mourinho advised his friend Poseiro to pack the box.....
Poseiro no tell am say, Nigeria no Sabi that kind style, say if we try am, na we gangan go help the opponent score.
He go dey listen to nonsense.
If we play our normal attacking game, who be Cote d'ivoire especially in this tournament...

The ivorien best game in this tournament was against Nigeria
On the other hand
Nigeria worst outing in this tournament was against the ivorien...

We just make the ivorien look world class
Ordinary Cote d'ivoire.
E no kukuma pain me sha
I no even expect the Nigerian side to go this far.

Our coach and Ola Aina cost us the game, Coach made wrong changes. Ola Aina was tired and progressively couldn’t keep up with the pace of the Ivorians once we loose the ball.

This guy dey yarn dust because to me all the matches they won are all by luck and in the finals the luck ran away..

because the highest goal they scored in all matches is just 1 goal 🥅

So luck is all around u
Na you dey obviously yarn dust, so na only 1 goal they score against Cameroon abi?

Learn to appreciate a person's effort, yes they lost and made everyone sad, but to be honest; they tried.
Even though they didn't score as much goals as you felt they should, they also didn't concede as much goals as other teams...

Give them their flowers and move on!!

The best form of defense is attack

No wonder Pep has more titles than Mourinho

Critically looking, it's our goalkeeper
that got us into the final, because South Africa
also outplayed us..

How come we always find it difficult to score
more on goal❓❓❓

Abeg forget tactics. You guys tried but Ivory Coast was simply better in that Final - either because of their home advantage or the extra motivation they had by the miraculous way they qualified from the Group.
Ivory Coast was better because they played better tactics which was attacking play. Nigeria under Peseiro played defensively. a team that scored just 3 goals in the group stage and didnt fancy scoring goals, how was it going to win the competition?

it has nothing to do with home advantage. if it was home advantage and extra motivation, every country that has hosted competitions should naturally win

Omeruo said it all. because the coach was not interested in goals. his tactics was to sit deep and defend. the clown had the best player in Africa in his team who was able to manage just one goal. instead of unleashing him on opponents defences, he caged the guys ability by making him defend for almost 80% of games.

Thanks for saying the truth. 5-2-3 useless formation. How do you expect 2 midfielders to be creative enough for the strikers. Never iwobi’s fault.plenty people don’t understand football
Re: AFCON: Our Tactics Cost Us The Final, We Played Too Deep - Omeruo by ogbumosquito1(m): 8:08am On Feb 13, 2024
Exactly the point here. We have serious offensive players and we should have matched Ivory Coast skill for skill and power for power but rather, our coach's pattern on that day was very wrong. We were tactically deficient.

apart from the Cameroon game, Nigeria played poorly thru out. the team was not scoring goals but because we were progressing, Nigerians were blind to it refusing to face reality. you will hear people say, "goals dont matter as long as we are winning" or "Ghana scored goals. where are they?". eventually, reality dawned against Ivory Coast na there we come know say it is important to score goals

Rubbish!!
It is understandable to play well and still loose, but to play very poor and loose a final is miserable.
The super eagles played poorly in my general assessment.
How can a team play a FINAL like that? They should play better that this even if the whole world was against us.
Going forward, I think the NFF should better use homegrown players for tournaments like this. They have better hunger to win and infact they would play even better to sell their talent to the football world.
Was it only in the Final that they played poorly, or they have been playing poorly & still progressed to the Final?

Hiss!! Tell that to Sir Paseiro who watch the whole match few metres away from the pitch and didn't see anything bad in sitting deep for the most part of the game... undecided
does the fact he didnt see anything wrong in sitting deep mean that he was right?

if he saw nothing wrong in sitting deep, why did his team not win Ivory Coast?

True that is the way it was on the night. The Ivorians were extra charged and motivated. Our boys tried as tournament football is not easy especially against the host nation with everything at stake.

God please u for this comment, I keep telling people if this was not the home team playing in the final..... Nigeria would have won, the used there second chance and home advantage to the fullest....the ran faster than us, pressed harder and the fans gave them triple energy.....Omo forget o, home advantage is real mehn

They were generally NOT impressive in the tournament. They got to the final by luck. Their performance cannot be matched by teams that were unlucky to exit earlier.

Every team plays to its strength. You can't play attacking football if you don't have a good squad else you get trashed. No kind of tactics would have made us win that night. Ivory Coast was simply the better team.

If you watched Ivory Coast vs Senegal & vs Mali, you will agree that their crowd of supporters became like the 12th man on the pitch.

Stop saying rubbish Omeruo.

Nigeria has been winning almost all the matches with that same tactics.

Once we score, with support from the 12th player(fans) to penetrate us will be difficult but e nor dae.

Everybody dae blame Iwobi and Aina.
