Let's pray Gift Orban resolves his issues with FIFA then you will see what an AM supposed to be like!
Very agile, controls the game, strong on his feet and even scores.

Dude you at gassing it.

He had not done anything yet and you are giving accolades.

Our boys gave their all!

Out of 32 nations we came 2nd. That is 99.9 percentile performance.

How many here got that on a GRE/GMATH scores?

Please let the boys breathe!

It's football, if you don't win today you will tomorrow.

England with all its investment has won nothing in 4 decades.

Morocco has won nothing in 3 decades.

In the last three AFCONS, we have won Bronze and Silver.

Next AFCON, I promise you we will win the Cup.

Only few of us believe, the boys would even get to the finals.

Please, let the boys breathe.

We go again in June!

Long live Super Eagles.

God bless Nigeria!
they didn’t do well because they lack midfielders like xavi, iniesta, nwakali, jay jay, Scholes and zizou

Not that I support bullying but I think we've sensationalized this Iwobi thing enough. Footballers being yabbed comes with the perks of the job. It's one of the occupational hazards of being a player and they are well compensated for it. Same can be said of politicians. You can't in one breathe defend Iwobi and same time insult Tinubu Balablu. That's hypocritical.

Harry Maguire has been hounded over the years so much that a Ghanaian parliamentarian made jest of him on the parliament.

Onana's at 50 memes are everywhere.
Messi was bullied to a point that he quit the national team because he couldn't win the world cup or the South American copa.

Nobody even threatened Iwobi to start with. Back in 2006, Pierre Wome had his family house burnt in Cameron after he missed a last minute penalty which denied Cameron from qualifying for the world cup. Let's move on abeg

Lol at Maguire.

I don't support those who go to the players' media comment page to insult them but there's no harm saying they could do better. That's no insult. The truth is the midfield was completely dominated by Civ thus putting a lot of pressure on the team. Point is they have to do even more better if they want to get a shot at trophy. Even we hardly talked about Iwobi last afcon even though he was also poor in the last afcon tournament.

I recall when Onana made mistakes with two consecutive free kicks in one game which he should have saved, I even felt he could have done better, considering how he's been average for manutd so far. Well, he's improved with free kicks at least.

I even recall Aribo being called several names in his first match against Bissau because he wasn't creating a lot in his first start, even though he controlled the midfield against Bissau who hardly had a sniff before he left the pitch. Most of the players that played were called out.

Categories of people insulting Iwobi:

1) People who know absolutely nothing about football.

2) Bloody tribalists.

3) Those frustrated because their tickets cut.

4) Depressed cowards looking for who to cast their frustrations on. Iwobi is not responsible for electing you people's Balablu Bulaba.

5) Fools who think that he must play exactly like Okocha just because Okocha is his uncle. How many of una dey as wealthy as your uncles? How many of una dey as successful as your uncles? Be realistic and stop expecting someone else to live a life that y'all can't even dream of living.

Leave Iwobi alone. He's not the reason for your sorry lives.

but aside from peseiro's mistakes the Nigerian players became very over confidence in the second half especially when all the ivoirien shots were not entering the net, your nigerian players begun to let all those prophecies get into their heads
Overconfidence caused them too, just cut peseiro some slack
Haaa, overconfidence? You see that at last this talk about over confidence has flown from over the camp of the fans and is now firmly planted in the camp of the players.

It is totally incorrect to say our players were over confident. If there was one match in which out players were out of place, unsure of themselves and fretful it was the match against CIV. Aina was not himself. Bassey unusually misplaced passes. Osimhen was flustered. How you can say they were over confident beats me.

The point is this: the team lost the final. So it's all fair game to ascribe the loss to just about any reason no matter how far-fetched or outlandish it may be.

Bro, this loss pained me. Not for myself I swear cos like many long standing fans of the SE, I have experienced many losses none more painful than Afcon 2000.

This loss pained me for the players. I wanted them to win something. To taste what it feels like to play football and win. It pained me for the country cos people really needed that joy.

Personality all I can say to the players is thank you, thank you very much. It was one hell of a good ride.

Anyways, Nigeria team tried by reaching the final because I wasn't expecting anything after they lost agaisnt Guinea just before the tournament, so they tried in the tournament but if they really want to have a good shot at the trophy, the team have to even do more. Take Senegal for example. Senegal got to the final 3 years ago and then regrouped and made necessary improvement to win it in the following afcon.

I’ve been reading a lot about Nwakali on this forum. I watched him in age group football. I’ve also watched him play a few matches for the Super Eagles.

Pls what’s so special about him? I’m just curious. I wish to see him live his dreams, play in a bigger club and contribute to Super Eagles success but watching him, sometimes I wonder what’s special about his game. Maybe it’s me, I rated him high but I don’t think he has developed and improved as a footballer.

That’s what I’m saying. That is the beauty of AFCON being biennial. You can have a 3-4 tournaments in an 8 yr cycle. If you keep a competitive team, you can get a run at 2-3 finals/SFs

Cameroon - 2000, 2002 winners
Egypt - 2006, 2008, 2010 winners
CIV - 2012 finalist, 2015 winners
Senegal - 2019 finalist, 2021 winners

We have the attackers, GK, defenders (but will want to add one more CB), wingers and full backs. It’s just the midfield we need to improve

At this point, if the government can bid to host the AFCON it is long overdue. But too many internal problems like economic challenges, insecurity, etc. These can be managed though. If we have to borrow money from IMF let us do it. We need to host and win, if we are not winning we are bullying our way to the finals. I don't care what other African countries think, but one way or the other we must prove to them that we are the real giants here.
