The owner of the money should be arrested and prosecuted for hoarding foreign currency .

His source(s) of income should be thoroughly investigated too.

The Nigerian government should prosecute anyone keeping large amounts of naira in the house talk more of foreign scare currency.

Proper implementation of cashless policy is needed ASAP!

This is just a fraction of Nigerian problem. There is an interior motive of hoarding such huge cash in this economy. Imagine if the amount has been thrown back into the economy.

They even have mind to report and police did not quiz them? Naija my country

Whwt do you mean by hoarding? Is this money in anyway related to the relief fund that the government needs to ease the scarcity of dollar in nogeria? Going by your logic, if you have 10k dollars at home, as a private citizen its a problem because you are hoarding it from circulation? What if i dont want to use my money now? Whwt if i have plans for it in the future and not now? Why should i convert the money and keep it in the bank till when i want to use it when the value of naira keeps depreciating daily? So i convert 51k dollars, to naira, which is somewhere in the range of 100m, keep it in the bank for 2months until when i want to use it, then its purchasing power shrinks and i have to pay more money to achieve my goals because i love nigeria so much and i want what is best for it by keeping my money in naira so that nigeria can be good? These pockets of individuals are not the problem, nigeria is sinking from the top and you all are attacking private people.. i can tell you are yoruba from this reasoning. continue. Furcking continie!!!!

They should also investigate the employer. What is he doing with that kind of money at home? He could be one of the people sabotaging the naira and rendering it useless while they make a kill

The government should probe the man. This country self. The man has questions to answer. What's the source of the dollars? Why did he keep such a big amount at home? What goods and services does he buys with the dollar notes?; then, arrest the service providers.

This man and his kind are part of the people destroying the value of naira. You are in Nigeria, why are you keeping dollar notes in bulk? And I won't be surprised if he's one of those abusing Tinubu and Cardoso online.

May God help us. The rot and corruption in this country is mind-blowing. It has found its way into every fiber of the fabrics of our society.
That's the funniest part. Sometimes I encounter people abusing the presidents or governor's, when they are done and switch from politics to work related issues, they start discussing how to do some runs on the book in their organization, I just shake head and let them be

You are not allowed to keep a certain amount of money at home if one is living in a country that works. There are domiciliary accounts he could have opened for that purpose. Naira is sinking because of acts like this. Even in Kenya I heard they sold their Eurobond and they have so much dollars that the Kenyan shilling is rising making people that hoarded the dollar to bring it out and sell.

You fulls have been brainwashed to think that there are people who are hiding money and dont want to release it. What do you mean by sabotaging the naira? How? 51k na him go sabotage naira? If I were the authorities, I would arrest both the employee and the employer. $51k is about N84,000,000 today and anyone who will carelessly misplace such an amount where it can be stolen is highly likely a financial culprit - either stolen money or simply hoarding the dollars, denoting such as a crime in both ramifications.

Riddle me this, i should keep my dollars in the bank that the nieria govt is about to convert all usd holding to naira? The same naira that is falling like a pack of cards thrown out the window? You guys know nothing about economics. There is an aspect of it that is emotional, psychological. This is what determines investors confidence (that is why that is a word). Your government has done a very good job at killing confidence of everyone (citizens and investors alike) as to why they should have things done the way it should be done.

Too many stark idi*ts in this country. Asking why someone will keep such money at home. Is it your business if he decides to keep $1 million in his/her home?

Somebody worked hard and had some luck, he employed assistance, gave that criminal family an opportunity to do mutual help with him, then they came and stole his hard work.

What if his money was kept for a project or to pay bills, since the banking industry is unstable. He probably didn't want to owe any worker or partner. The victim probably has other families that might depend on that money. But the greedy criminals came in, and thought they were entitled to the victim's money. They think he doesn't need the money because he is doing better than them, from their pont of view. But the people that the victim might owe, will be thinking he is playing games with them as to why he can't pay them, thereby putting his life in danger.

Many Nigerians do not deserve kindness, and is crazy, because many politicians know this fact. Wicked idi*ts. They think other people's hardwork is their entitlement. This is why many politicians like to systematically send their families away, so that they can treasury looting and unleash brutality on anyone that want to try them.

Am sorry to say, but many Nigerians will keep being entangled in suffrage, because the general mindset is evil. And that evil will consume them.

I only pray that umu igbos rise above that kind of mentality. We need good successful and trying to be successful thriving people. We need the wealthy and upcoming to all have respect for all, to be able to walk and/or work together. We need respectful igbos. Not criminals and spoilt entitled people. And we need to deal with criminal politicians or criminal others.

Why keeping such amount of money at home?
Those are the currency speculators you hear much about.
They will keep it waiting and hoping the dollar hits 3000 before deciding to sell and even at that those types only sell when they see a steady appreciation of the naira, otherwise they continue holding till they have an urgent need for raw cash

From the typing I can deduce a little. Now let me make my point clearer. First, I am not a Yoruba man, I did not marry a Yoruba lady, so do not go the tribal route. This is simple economics.
1. What is the man's source of income? Do you even go the route of a business man. And even if he is one, What kind of business is he into?
2. Why do you think in advance countries and currently even in some African countries you cannot stack huge cash at home? Why
3. Why do you think money is called currency? and not any other name?
4. Who keeps money in the bank, when there are lost of investments he can embark on such as mutual funds, treasury bills, foreign share purchase etc. The funny thing is that he can even withdraw his money at anytime.

Do you think if he was in an advance country or even in some countries here in Africa, he will stack such cash at home?

Your last statement made me laugh. The scenario is like saying a convoy of government parastatals evaded traffic by taking one way and call them the problem. But at a traffic light junction, You saw RED light and decided to beat traffic because their is no official to impound your vehicle. Till Nigeria become disciple and start asking fundamental questions both from government and individuals the country will never change.

If you want to know little about this, read up about:

I’d rather keep my money at home then these useless banks that only allow you to withdraw 10k usd per day of your own money.
& these staffs, when you employ them, they need to be watched and micromanaged. They need to KNOW that you or someone you trust already is watching them closely. And never have them live in. Ever.
Even people I meet on the street are scheming on how to get near to get a piece, I can only imagine what a live in staff would do. That was his own fault being careless.
