Who's stockpiling such foreign currency at home? I can now see wisdom is some of Tinubu's policies relating to foreign currencies.

I wonder whether some rich people have common sense at all. You cannot buy a safe of about 1m naira to protect m76 naira

Why would someone have such an amount in his or her house in the first place

I wish they didn't catch the househelp and her husband. He seemed to invest part of the money well
They put the money into good use, unlike the owner that dumped it at home.

You can deduce when people are poor and have lack of opportunities in their life because of the way they think and voice certain opinions. So you do not see anything wrong with what the hpusehelp did, you believe that two wrongs should be right. Men, you guys are furckn sick.
Why will they hoard and keep 51,000 dollars at home, why?
Nothing to do with it just keep it there sp that when 1 dollar becomes 10k they smile and catch out abi
At least the househelp husband was wise to have invested it properly into his businesses and grow our economy not greedy rich fools.

Yorubas should stop employing these obidients as housemaids.

They are just too covetous.

They've all started attacking the employer and rationalizing the criminal act in their usual fashion.

If you must hire them, let them work only when you are at home. Don't take them as Live-in maids.

I employ them a lot but can never let them stay close to my money.

What makes me a bigot? Are Obidients an ethnic group?

I detest the Obidients and their ideology but I strongly condemn this your statement. This is an insult to many hardworking people out there.
No political school of thought has monopoly on crime, they are APC and PDP members who are into this kind of labor, mind you these people you disrespect constitute a large part of the labor that is driving the economy. The driver I employed for my baby-mama and my sons is a die-hard Obidient but his work ethic is impeccable, and I put my political affiliation aside and respect him for that, because at the end we were humans before the idea of politics.

The man should be arrested for tempting the poor maid with such a huge amount of Dollars.

This is my position as well. The owner of the money should be equally arrested for economic sabotage. Why is he saving dollars at home? That's economic crime.

I just don't understand this agent thing. For house help you need an agent? ... someone you know nothing about who will send someone he knows nothing about and you allow that person to enter ... live and have freedom of movement in your home. Doesn't the wife or husband have relatives?... if both orphans don't they have close friends who can do the work or recommend someone? ... or is it they had to look outside because they wanted a slave? They should consider themselves lucky these two were simply thieves and not murderers.

The owner of the money should be arrested and prosecuted for hoarding foreign currency .

His source(s) of income should be thoroughly investigated too.

The Nigerian government should prosecute anyone keeping large amounts of naira in the house talk more of foreign scare currency.

Proper implementation of cashless policy is needed ASAP!

But, who dey keep that kind big money at home?? That’s over N76M in today’s dollar to Naira exchange

And even carelessly kept where a hungry, eagle-eyed and economically messed-up househelp can see and touch. lol, not funny

A lesser thief stole from a bigger thief. Can't you see how the identity of the owner was not exposed?

Oga relax 51k Usd is nothing to most folks. They earn in dollars and many of them have large investments that pay in dollars. Abi u think say lekki or ikoyi residence dey play

They should take it to the bank.
Simple!

Deposit your dollars in the bank and receive the equivalent amount in naira.
We don't spend dollars in Nigeria and no body has the right to hoard a currency that is not tenable in Nigeria.

The Nigerian government is not serious and are equally corrupt, that is why they are treating this issue of currency racketeering with kid glove.

A government that is slave to dollars can not implement laws to end dollar scarcity.

From the typing I can deduce a little. Now let me make my point clearer. First, I am not a Yoruba man, I did not marry a Yoruba lady, so do not go the tribal route. This is simple economics.
1. What is the man's source of income? Do you even go the route of a business man. And even if he is one, What kind of business is he into?
2. Why do you think in advance countries and currently even in some African countries you cannot stack huge cash at home? Why
3. Why do you think money is called currency? and not any other name?
4. Who keeps money in the bank, when there are lost of investments he can embark on such as mutual funds, treasury bills, foreign share purchase etc. The funny thing is that he can even withdraw his money at anytime.

Do you think if he was in an advance country or even in some countries here in Africa, he will stack such cash at home?

Your last statement made me laugh. The scenario is like saying a convoy of government parastatals evaded traffic by taking one way and call them the problem. But at a traffic light junction, You saw RED light and decided to beat traffic because their is no official to impound your vehicle. Till Nigeria become disciple and start asking fundamental questions both from government and individuals the country will never change.

If you want to know little about this, read up about:
1. Elite theory & Masses theory
2. Iron law of Oligarchy by Abraham Maslow
3. Animal farm by George Orwell

When someone is stating facts commend them..

PepeXKermit is right..

Floyd Mayweather has stacks of dollars in his house so that means in advanced countries anyone can have huge amount of cash with them...

Keeping cash at home means the money is easily accessible and you don't have to fill forms to withdraw your own money and you don't want to hear story when you want to withdraw your money.

Last year when they introduced new naira notes and didn't print enough for circulation the banks stopped people from withdrawing their own naira and put a limit of 10,000 naira withdrawal per day. Imagine you need to pay someone cash of 70k naira but you can only withdraw 10k..

If the guy puts $51k in the bank he would only be allowed to withdraw $10k per day and that's if the bank has up to $10k because the bank can tell him there's no dollars meanwhile he deposited $51k the previous day.
