People that has signed a life long contract with suffering and pains will wake up to reality?

If Tinubu still comes to the podium to lick microphone again at the next election, they'll still vote for him.

This is the absolute truth. Many Nigerians have very short memories and would soon get used to this new wave of suffering.

Come 2026, the government would make things abit easy, the killing would reduce and they would start sharing a few cups to rice to improvised voters who would gladly sell their votes

But asides that, the real elephant in the room is inec and the judiciary. Voters do not determine winners in elections. Inec and judiciary does. As long as there is no punishment for rigging elections, nothing would change

Voters apathy would be premium which is what elections riggers want. So all these lamentations is music to the ears of these politicians because they know that they are still coming back to power

Not Jonathan but Musa the messiah Yardadua who pave the way for the drunken sailor who could not hold his own and all the region in ss ,se and Sw could not support his second bid because of poor governance caused by stealing and corruption
Thereby using the statement such as "CORRUPTION IS NOT THE SAME AS STEALING "mantra
In conclusion Yaradua raised a bar and left a big shoe non of them could fit into
Rest Well Dr Musa yaradua. The best president Naija ever had
Anybody still re-echoing this nonsense at this time is not a serious person and don't want to learn.

Jonathan was only giving context in that interview and not whether stealing is not corruption...if he meant it literally then what is stealing then that he said from the interview?

Corruption is a bogus term that covers all forms of dishonest behavior, and not just taking money that does not belong to you. Jonathan was saying that Nigerians resonates more with the term "thief" that when a politician or anyone is caught in the act, they should be called a "thief" instead of the generic corruption.
That it is the reason some people even with corruption trials hanging over their heads, still stand for elective positions and win. If they are called "thieves" the Nigerian population would know better.

For instance,

John is corrupt,
John is a thief,

What does a common Nigerian know about "John being a corrupt person". "John being a thief" resonates with everyone.

The gravity of those two statements in the Nigerian experience, weigh more on the second, that is the context Jonathan was making but some people are still neck deep into the nonsense APC said then during election cause they know most Nigerians refuse to read and are very impulsive.
Since stealing is corruption now under APC and the party has been in power for 9 years, where are the corrupt people in government the APC administration has apprehended?

These people come to social media to lament because there is a govt so used to selling crude oil to pay them salaries. What's their productivity like if I may ask?
How many of their trained graduates are producing what will in turn be their salary via taxes? You cannot mock God.
We need to start demanding accountability at so many levels of the society. As an educator or academician, you are engaged in training people to help them become productive in the future. The average Nigerians only cares about what he or she goes home with and never what is contributed.

Why is the currency CFA Francs used by all the wAfrican & C.African countries surrounding Nigeria not declining/depreciating? grin grin grin is their economy not similar to ours? We even produce more than them.

I will try to be as short and simple as possible, avoiding the dark side of France in the African economy;

All CFA countries have their economies literally tied to France, so basically the CFA is directly pegged to the Euro, which makes it a very stable currency.

Yes that's the simple truth...

The moment the Naira was floated, this self destruction journey began.

Because the fact Nigeria had oil and oil prices were high back then, masked alot of issues with the economy.

Had it been oil prices were still high and global crude oil demand was still high, the Naira would not have tumbled this way even if the currency value was floated... however 99 days is for the thief and one day is for the owner.

The true state of Nigeria's Economy is just revealing itself finally since the oil party is over.

The country has been on a steady decline as the Sunny Okosun song 'which way Nigeria' released in 1984 quoted by the writer attested to. Nigeria's problem remains the same "Poor leadership and followership". We have been watching our nation spiral out of control for decades and all we do is build more churches and mosques, fight each other over whose turn it is to loot our common wealth and throw insults. Until we understand that we do not have another nation and that we must pass on a worthy legacy to the generations yet to come nothing will change.

How is that insult?
That is our end of term report card. Reality
We do not produce anything in significant quantities that the world is interested in buying other than crude oil
What percentage of our population is engaged in th oil industry
Yet we feel.entitled to all the good things that other nations produce?
Why what is the basis for our sense of entitlement or arrogance
What products is it that carries the words

Made in Nigeria?

It is not by arrogance or misplaced sense of insult
First we must tell.ourselves the bitter truth
We are not productive and do
NOT DESERVE TO EAT IMPORTED RICE,BREAD,NOODLES,SPAGHETTI
We should be satisfied with cocoyams,Yam,plantain and palm oil ,Snake meat,Bush meat, coconuts, banana and snails. No more imported chicken and turkey
NOT imported vegetable oils
We should as a people start thinking of how to be productive and stop expecting government to look after us like little children.
Let us figure out how to grow our own food and stop making babies like rabbits

If he had stocked to yaradua blue prints no one will vote Buhari or APC. During yaradua regime all the regions in Nigeria were at peace ,food prices crashed, dangote dominance in our economy was broken which gave room for d cement company called IBETO , security was minimal, petrol included ( d man was for the poor masses) elections were won at the supreme court aftr yrs of long battle due to electoral corruption which gave oshiomole is. So are the economic indices the same with Jonathan regime?

Okonjo iweala openly said that Jonathan lacks the political will to save for rainy day. If he had saved, Nigeria would have had cushion at this time there's weak inflow of dollars. The Jonathan you referenced was part of the problem.

I also wonder why a so-called professor writes like an illiterate. Was it tribal or she was genuinely confused?

Most Nigerian professors are only subject matter experts in their fields, take them out of it and they sound unintelligible. She studies law but obviously deficient in economics

But still had so much money in the reserve up leaving. But Buhari finished the reverse and borrowed so much more and stole it.

So blaming Jonathan a man who did well while in office makes you efficient in economics and politics.

So tell me, what exactly are you selling apart from crude oil that is bringing in dollars for Nigeria?
We need dollars because we use it for trade, to order imports... imagine we do currency swap agreement with China, and buy 50% of all our imports from china, this will reduce our need for dollars drastically, and bring down the value. The reason dollar keeps getting high over naira is because of the demand for dollars, mainly to pay for imports...plus of course, this hoarding of dollars by Nigerians hoping it increases so they sell higher.

The key is looking for alternative to dollar, in paying for imports. It is not by force that we buy from all the nations of the world, we must buy from where pays us.

Hello! Ladies and Gentlemen of Nairaland.

One thing that gave me joy as I was going through Prof writing; after the rigging they call election, they credited most of these so called Professors' account to read out the falsified figures are results, mostly VCs of Federal Universities.

Now, why are you crying Prof?

Wait a minute, is it not the same Prof that was lamenting the high cost of freight ticket during AFCON final?

One thing that gives me joy is that, the so called man on the Streets knows how to adapt, survive on the Streets until the day Baba God picks his call.

Let's just assimilate this news with one bottle of ice cold Budweiser.
